This is a Brazilian baby. The Ford EcoSport was invented in here back in 2003 and it was responsible of opening a segment on our market of small SUVs and crossovers. Since then, the EcoSport became a very popular and reliable vehicle on the Brazilian market. It's curious that Ford of USA chose the Indian assembly line to build the vehicle for them, since they have an fully loaded assembly line right here, that serves the entire latin american market as well. And no, Mexico has no involvement with the EcoSport whatsoever
Indian Assembly line builds to the same standards too as far as I know. And to the best of my knowledge, India is the centre hub for Asia and Europe for distribution of exports, so just like a lot of other brands, for Ford making it there is a viable and wise option with vendors being reasonable in costs.
No, its expensive and pretty big compared to hatchbacks. I would get a hatchback if I were you, and maybe a manual one so you know how to drive a manual early on.
Test drove one of these today. Fell in love with it. Looking to trade my 2016 Toyota Corolla on one! That Corolla is my 2nd Toyota ever and it's just as much of a money pit as the first one I had (2005 Camry). It's so cheap and the suspension makes all kinds of noises that 4 different Toyota dealerships can't replicate. So ready to dump it for the Ecosport.
Loved the video! Keep up the fantastic work. Average at best car though, literally no reason to buy it over other competitors unless you get $4000+ off of MSRP.
When i first heard that Ford was discontinuing its passenger cars starting 2020, Two things stood out. 1) This isn't just a Ford issue. Ford is a big part of it, but there is more of an underlying issue. It's more of a segment issue. Passenger cars (i.e. sedans) sales have been going downhill for years. (Some of them falling faster than others) Crossovers, Trucks, and SUV'S are the hot sellers.(Especially the subcompact SUV/CUV segment) They are the ones that are making the most money. They are ones that are selling the most. Even the top sellers like the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Honda Civic and few other top selling sedans have slipped through the years. The difference is the other automakers will not discontinue the passenger cars. (Not yet at least) if you think Ford's car sales are bad, Chrysler is WORSE!! Chrysler only has three passenger cars left. (Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and the sports car Dodge Challenger) That's it. This has been going on at Chrysler for a couple of years. With that being said, Ford isn't blameless either. Ford has neglected its passenger cars to concentrate on their trucks, SUV, and Crossover markets. Ford's passenger cars are in badly need of a redesign. (Especially the Focus) How bad do you think Ford sales for its sedans if it is discontinuing the whole segment. If this can happen to auto makers like Ford and Chrysler, It can happen to the other auto makers.
Lyn, thanks for the video about the Eco Sport... Fords move away from cars, was a smart move and good fit for them, as their highest volume sales are Trucks and SUVs... so it only made sense for them to walk away from the car market.... What this means however is there is no longer a econobox in their lineup to boost their overall CAFE ratings. However it also means they don't need to compete in the CAFE requirements for cars... Light Truck CAFE is hovering at 18 mpg average, where the average for cars is 28.4 mpg .. The ecoboost Mustangs are in the 31 and the GT in the 25 highway range so they are solid if that winds up being the only car ford builds. The Eco Sport was no doubt constructed to replace small cars, and its fuel economy easily allows Ford to meet the light truck CAFE across the board.... Most people don't consider the regulatory end of the spectrum when reviewing vehicles, they only determine whats acceptable from a purely consumer perspective... However with more and more government intervention (TOO much) and the Socialists wanting only electric vehicles, the use of regulatory bodies to move Vehicle manufacturers toward those ends has become extreme... That is a primary reason Ford walked away from the car business as will many other manufacturers in the future..... As for electric cars ... anyone in their right mind should be aware that humans and high voltage (electromagnetic radiation) .... are a toxic cocktail...
This was a horrible move getting rid of their economy cars mostly due to the fact that their economy lines offered something from the enthusiast to the green party.
All modern car seats are way too stiff and uncomfortable as hell to me, with the exception being the Nissan Armada. Besides that, give me the seats in a 1985 Cadillac Sedan Deville anytime over the new stuff they offer.
Try 21.5k usd equivalent in php for the top of the line Titanium here in the Philippines. For that much you won't even be able to buy the base variants of HRV and CX 3. Kona and Trax only offer one variant here and they're both more expensive. I fully understand the condescending tone of this review because this was done in the US. And this unit won't sit well, pun intended, with the American market. One thing that those 4 competitors I mentioned have in common - they feel like oversized hatches; drive like sedan with their low ground clearances. We wanted an undersized suv (read: not as pricey but drives like one) with high ground clearance which is what this model is all about for us. The nearest competitor here is a Subaru xv (dunno what you call them there, crosstek is it?) With 220mm ground clearance. But that one costs 28k usd equivalent. Had Ford here priced it like so (or like there) Subaru would have been a no brainer. But not those 4.
Zaheed Chapman no that I think of it when you drive it it’s comfortable and it may not have the most cargo room in its class the majority of its buyers are young so it makes sense
First, let me say I'm not a Ford guy. In my youth, I was a Chevy guy. Later in life, I became a Honda guy. I'm not saying this review is full of lies, it is not. However, most of her complaints are very subjective. Yes, you will not win many races from a stoplight. If that is what you want, why in the hell would you buy a sub compact SUV. I have had cars with plenty of horsepowers, but guess what, I didn't need it. Other than getting a thrill now then, it was worthless, in cost, insurance premiums, gas mileage, and getting a ticket for no good reason. Even with average power, this car is fun to drive. I have owned everything from a 67 GTO, Camaro, to Honda Preludes and Accords. I loved all those cars but none of them did I like as quickly as I did this one. Maybe I'm getting old, but this car is perfect for me. Perhaps the best advice I can give....test drive the dam thing. It's a very solid feeling car with absolutely no squeaks or rattles.
Good. Don’t listen to ecosport haters. People don’t seem to understand that this car was made to be cheap and for people who want a small car which doesn’t look small. This car has done a lot for developing countries
I really like my ecosport.not as fast as a kona, but? Its got alot more clearance, and it can tow a couple thousand pounds too.and its not a rocket but its not painfully slow like an hrv.one thing about fords too is that in 25 years itll still be intact,no rust holes lime in a honda or a hyundai.its unstoppable in the snow too.
1:26 I like how absurd Lyn looks with her hair blowing in the wind while scratching the dashboard. In any other situation, she would look like a crazy lady.
Another nail in the coffin of the American car market from so-called American reviewers. A rather condescending and lacklustre reviewer. She referenced the Honda a few times during what was supposed to be a Ford review. It's a budget SUV, not a luxury one.
Budget price wise, but even if you get the Titanium model that has a boatload of standard up to date features and luxuries, it'll be under $30,000 easy. I have an Escape that goes back in January, and I'm thinking of one of these. My Titanium Escape was around $35,000 on Z plan. One of these could be $10,000 less than that and still have a nicely outfitted car.
Here in the Philippines, the Ecosport is underpowered, cramped, heavy and sluggish. This is based on the Fiesta platform if I am not mistaken. Bet your money on HRV or Kona. Ford should introduce the Everest in the US instead.
I'm sure they will since they killed off all the cars and they only make sports cars, trucks, suvs and supercars for the American market now. I think they will still make the Taurus though cause the Ford Police Interceptor is based on the Taurus and it sells a lot better then all the other cars Ford makes here for the American market. The EcoSport we get isn't half bad though
Depends on the vehicle. I wouldn't want one of these, but the new Fiesta ST with the 1.5 3cylinder with 197hp/210lb-ft looks lovely (well I prefer the old backend, but that's not my point).
@@twistedinnocence8617 lol how does the fuel economy suck on the EcoSport lol my gf just bought one sure my Cruze RS Diesel hatch back gets over double the gas mileage with a 1.4 turbo diesel but I guess Ford could add a hybrid system to the 3 cylinder EcoSport not only for more power but a longer driving range and better fuel economy. It hasn't been in America that long if they make the 3 cylinder a hybrid I probably will get it but I do love my gf's EcoSport though it's comfortable to drive tbh but that's my opinion though
Slow, uncomfortable, and bad on fuel. Dunno why you’d get this over something like a Kona, or just grow a pair and get an impreza, which is smaller and lower, but also more comfortable and better on gas and faster.
It was uncomfortable to her, and how fast do you need to go in a subcompact? If you want to go fast then you would get worse mileage. She should've driven the top of the line Ecosprt 2.0 awd to compare!😎
@@1biggun712 that was the top of the line. The SES and Titanium are the same thing but the ses goes for sportier appearance while the Titanium goes for pseudo luxury. The SES only comes with AWD so it cost more than the titanium fwd
Eric Lathouse There are bigger, more efficient engines, though, which get better gas mileage. The CX-3 is more efficient and better to drive, though admittedly not much faster. It doesn’t matter how fast it is, just that it doesn’t feel gutless going from 10 to 40 or 30 to 60. And, all that notwithstanding, this is a ridiculous class of vehicle and it would be more cost-effective to get something like an Impreza or even a slightly used Escape over something like this, and you could get even more cost-effective if you don’t need AWD.
Rented this car from enterprise for a day. Drove it up the 101 N for 2hrs felt nauseous and sore after drive. I thought the ride was loud. And car sounded like it was going to blow up going faster 70mph. I overall enjoyed the experience it was comical never again.
I love the Kona better. And I’m Ford guy, but this seems like they hastily put this together just to have a competitor in this segment here. Hopefully the next gen Ecosport will be better equipped for the US market. Good review!
I've never seen someone complain about the console and door elbow rest not being at the exact same height. Who cares? You're driving - not at the movies. I also beg to differ about the seat comfort. I have a 2019 EcoSport, and one of the first things that I noticed about it was the seat comfort. However, I am very small framed. Taller or wider people may struggle in this car.
I just got a used 2019 and it already has issues with the display screen. Fortunately it's still under a bumper to bumper warranty and will be repaired for free. I just hope I can get a good 10 years out of this car before I trade it in.
I have a 2018 2.0 4 wheel drive an I really like it an don’t know why everyone knocks it. It drives good I have no problem getting onto an interstate or keeping up with traffic, as far as gas mileage it’s not bad ( I don’t really look at those EPA estimates) as they are only estimates . I like the door opens sideways makes it easier to load an you don’t hit your head on the hatch. I have enough options on it, I have the sync 3, sun roof , heated seats an steering wheel, auto headlights, power driver seat, remote start pretty much what I need. Ford kinda screwed up on marking it, there was very little in the way of things to dress it up, I have 17 in wheels an 205 50 / 17 tires, but with 4lug wheels which makes it hard to change wheels to aftermarket. I would like to go to a little more aggressive tires since it’s 4 wheel drive. An the biggest disappointment is they did not put or make an option to put the 2.0 Ec o Boost 2.0 in it that in my opinion was a mistake. But it is what it is an I can live with that. One more thing I think It looks just as good or better than the other vehicles she mentioned.
My last ford went 160,000 miles without issue and that is when the manual clutch was replaced, cant ask for more than that. Although afterwards I did trade it for a Honda, just the be sure.
Man... Fords homecountry gets an older model than countries like Brazil and India. Just look up the indian model, its a bestseller due to its efficiency and price. Although the interiors arethe same as updated one, the extirior is slightly different. We get led DRLS
@Bulldozer OMG Man! You really need to change your perception about us Indians 🇮🇳! Hahaha😄 We appreciate food regardless with no stigma attached and that has nothing to do with the way we build cars! Hahaha!!
I'd rather have a Ford station wagon over this thing, but it's too bad that Americans are too superficial to buy wagons, stuffing themselves in tiny tin cans like the EcoSport instead to maintain their image, part of America's age-old image problem.
A tiny engine and it only gets that much MPG? I think it's like they are trying to get good mileage but the engine is too small in that it's working over time to get it moving.
I'm looking for a car with easy enter access. Living in the UK these days where a full size SUV, while getting popular here, isn't the smart choice considering the size of the roads and parking. If they made a few tweaks to this car it's something I would look at. Volkswagen is coming out with a T-Cross this Spring (UK) I think might fit the requirements for me. I test drove a Honda Jazz (I used to own one and liked it) that is getting a new engine as well (and the HR-V).....although that engine has had some issues on the CR-V.
I love all Kelly blue book reviews and now that you guys added this amazing lady is just perfect. She's very knowledgeable and accurate, I saw the first Eco Sport in Mexico back in 2005-7 and it was awful, the riding experience was horrible, gas milage poor and overall ownership experience a total joke however ppl kept buying it and it became very popular. Ford got this great idea of a tiny SUV crossover that only worked out because it looked cute even when it drove like crap.
I'm looking for a better Car/Truck/SUV. I drive Uber part time. I'm looking for something better than my 2013 Honda Fit. Dont get me wrong, this Hatchback Honda has done a great job for me the last 3 years. Only the usual wear and tear. BUT before I drive this car to the ground cause that's what I usually do to the point of only getting $500 for a trade in. I have been researching what are my best options for a vehicle that can handle my workload a day. I wanted to go electric at first but I have to go with my budget. But definitely some type of hybrid. That's Great on miles, handles good, Safety, Power, Room. And affordable. The only thing is the back hatch how it opens sideways instead of up. That right there probably will be the final decision on why I won't buy this car. Now this vehicle is great for other people obviously for their workload or everyday stuff they do but the hatch is what will stop me from buying it. Cause I like it alot.
I just bought a new 2019 Ecosport about a month and a half ago, but I gotta say, this review is unfairly and overly negative. I drive 4,000 miles a month for work and I’m 6’4” @ 260 lbs (yeah, I’m a pretty big dude) and the seat comfort is totally fine and very much adjustable, even for my SE model (and YES, there is a lumbar adjustment, KBB. Unfortunate that they missed that.). Plus, with careful driving, I get well over 33 mpg combined. The rear swing gate isn’t a problem at all! They barely show it before they hastily cut away, but the rear swing gate has a mid-way hydraulic stop which still gives you full access to the back of the car. With all the cities and towns that I travel in and around, I’ve yet to come across any issue with opening it. As a matter of fact, the small size of the car enables me to fully open the swing gate almost every time! And, I LOVE the side-opening swing gate, especially as a tall guy! One thing I will say - the only drawback I have so far is the power. I have the inline 3 cylinder turbo, and while it’s feisty and I can still pass with mostly relative ease, if I really want to get on the gas for an emergency, the power’s just not there. I believe it’s mostly due to throttle response and gearing; both seem haphazard and somewhat lazy. But hey, dat TOW CAPACITY doe! And come ON, for 20 grand brand NEW?? Gotta say, I LOVE this thing!
Seems like bullying to slam this poor excuse for a cute ute too much. Obviously, Ford had invested nothing in designing for this emerging market segment and simply looked around for something they could use as a placeholder until they can design a proper Fiesta replacement. Its peculiarities suggest that in non-North American markets it may fill some niches that don't exist here. For example, the cargo space, though smaller than its competition, is tall and square. As such the car can be used for light commercial purposes in urban environments in Asia and South America. Yes, its base engine is ridiculously under-powered, but in environments where going over 30 mph on a backroad is potentially hazardous, that may not matter so much. And though the larger engine is also low on performance and not very efficient, it has been around a while and is probably relatively simple to maintain. All in all, the review gets it right. If you must have a Ford product, the local dealer will be happy to take your money and will probably give you a decent discount in appreciation for your patronage.
why am I watching this? I dont' need someone to tell me if my car is good or not. I love it!!

And to the best of my knowledge, India is the centre hub for Asia and Europe for distribution of exports, so just like a lot of other brands, for Ford making it there is a viable and wise option with vendors being reasonable in costs.
Ive never owned a Ford but I would buy this ! I Love Its looks
Would Ford Ecosport be a good first car?
Yes just mine 4 days ago about to trick it out with Blue lights under the seat and cup holders
no and hell no big pos just rented one just because it was the last car to rent its trash!!
Brad Downes oh man wish I got something else like a car
No, its expensive and pretty big compared to hatchbacks. I would get a hatchback if I were you, and maybe a manual one so you know how to drive a manual early on.
@@gracejackson5161 I smell a "ricer" in the making!
I’m really hoping to get one!!! I love the eco-sport
So ready to dump it for the Ecosport.
about 1500 miles no weird noises.
had mine 3 years and still love it
Just picked up the 2020 titanium. I'm pretty happy with it so far
Journalists complain about cars not having lumbar support and when they review one with lumbar support they complain about it being uncomfortable 😂
I don’t know why but I really like the eco sport for some reason. It’s shit, but I kinda want one. 😂
It's not that "shit". This video is just dumb. Try one out yourself and see how you like it.
Not sh#t its a fun reliable efficient small SUV an sell tons of em! Buy one & enjoy .😉

Come to India and drive the 1.5 L Turbo Diesel Ecosport that churns out 215 NM of torque. You'll just love driving it at 1750 to 2250 rpm band.
She is clearly a Ford hater..... I begin to notice that when she introduced the ranger just recently.
Her review is pure negative! Didn’t feel like she reviews fairly
I drove one to Louisville and I really liked it.
I LOVE it no matter what anyone else says!

She's gorgeous. I'd marry her in an instant.
Great review as always! The Ecosport is one of Ford’s best selling model here in the Philippines apart from the Ranger and Everest
KBB, I think for your reviews from now on, you should give the folks a lav mic. It's kinda hard to hear the Micah and Lyn sometimes.
Here in india this is a gem
Manish Nandish why
@@I2Elharrif It's a tiny little ute! Great for city commuters and parking duties!
A 3 cylinder in a $21k+ vehicle? That's just being cheap, Ford
Shane Nelson ya, and its fuel economy still sucks too. This is going to be a failure quick I think. Just get the bigger and much better Escape
Depends on the vehicle. I wouldn't want one of these, but the new Fiesta ST with the 1.5 3cylinder with 197hp/210lb-ft looks lovely (well I prefer the old backend, but that's not my point).
@@twistedinnocence8617 why just not buy a Ford? Only good vehicles they make are F150s
@@lostbetrayed youre definitely in the UK, the us gets very different drive train options. ford cares less about mpg here
Lmfao. Was not expecting a marshmellow moment.
@@1biggun712 The EcoSport is literally almost at the bottom of its class, I agree with William, you'd be insane to not buy the Kona.
Impreza is bigger
Wife just picked one up today. They are lease-friendly
Just purchased mine. Gotta say I love all of the features. The only concern I have is the car doesn’t have a gas cap to it.

In the Netherlands it sells pretty good. I don’t know how it is in the rest of Europe.
It's a solid very well built small SUV! It will sell well in US an prob Europe too. We love our loaded '19 Titanium AWD.
fuel economy 27 in the city and 29 in the highway??? Is it possible? It is almost the same.
Rented this car from enterprise for a day. Drove it up the 101 N for 2hrs felt nauseous and sore after drive. I thought the ride was loud. And car sounded like it was going to blow up going faster 70mph. I overall enjoyed the experience it was comical never again.
Its a lovely SUV!
Wonder why the don’t criticize the Jeep Wrangler tail gate that opens sideway? Not knocking the wrangler as I have a 94 an love it.
Its the second lowest horse power. The Mitsubishi Mirage has 78 hp
Was the Fusion doing that bad? Doubt it
They got rid of the Fiesta for this?
Ford is more improvement now here innthe philippines, ilove this one style.
The top of the trim gets heated seats and steering wheels. Why isn't she mentioning all of that. Also it is equipped with paddle shifters.
It's like the fiesta tried to get buff, but quit halfway through because ford didn't want to pay for the rest of the gym membership
Monthly sales are keeping up to the hrv in 2018. Good job Ford
The marshmello thing makes me sold on this car
How’s the transmission?
One more thing I think
It looks just as good or better than the other vehicles she mentioned.

I'd rather have a Ford station wagon over this thing, but it's too bad that Americans are too superficial to buy wagons, stuffing themselves in tiny tin cans like the EcoSport instead to maintain their image, part of America's age-old image problem.
And if I was buying an SUV, I'd much rather have a 2001 Honda CRV over thing thing.
Love it!!
If you think that A pillar is big, you ain’t seen nothin yet, Hon.
Nice review. Love the sense of humor- marshmallows. Lol
Plain white and black line, police type is very beautiful The open blue and black line of the police are very beautiful Puntland and Jubaland
Plus, with careful driving, I get well over 33
mpg combined.
Great review! Thank you!!
Great review...Nice to see a no frills honest opinion.
Do y’all have a review on the Nissan Kicks?
