  • I ordered an attack based on poor intelligence and I've now paid dearly for it. I'm sabotaging myself with these bad decisions.

Count yourself lucky he pulled that stunt with the Cruisers in Chittagong earlier instead of having them available to follow up immediately after the MTBs. The depletion of the ammunition stocks of the covering forces leaves them severely vulnerable if he commits heavy surface assets (particularly the heavy RN assets) to a night action. Now that the Vals have been shot up that limits KB's strike capacity even further should he commit his CVs. This Trincomalee grab could prove to be a reach too far if things keep going sideways like this.

At least they weren't torpedo pilots!

@@jochenheiden Lodrick said in his game that the Val pilots are a lot easier and faster to train, but the torpedo bomber pilots are the ones that need to be conserved for the big naval fights.

Ceylon is a great opportunity to destroy a lot of troops in situ if you have the resources on the ground to do it. I have always wondered about the ability of Allies to move aircraft unseen to the Japanese player, as they go second. So Japan could recon a base, see nothing there but then during their turn the Allied player moves in 100 fighters during their turn unknown to Japanese player to catch them next turn. Does it work the other way, i.e. Allied player sees nothing on their turn but actually Japan may have moved in fighters that are not detected because the recon is of what was there yesterday (if that makes sense)? I don't play Allies so have no idea of such things.

@@JoVeg1 it works both ways for both sides. I can CAP trap him just as easily as he can me.

i think you can avoid scattering TF if you set their orders to absolute. They will than follow the Order and dont do anything on their own no matter its good or bad. And for the Colombo attack....why not first sweeps as suggested? He MUST have CAP here and your sweeps would grind it fast down with nearly zero replacment Hurricane planes at this time.

@@chrissobiech2677 I don’t think I had the spare aircraft available to sweep. Lesson learned for the future.

@@jochenheiden i hate this auto deletes :D so again. You need only to send 1 Squadron. Or Split Squadrons and send parts. The point here is enemy has to fly and fight. He must have CAP here or you can bomb his airfield nonfunctional and Allies get early 1942 like 1 Hurrican per week? So after 1 Week of sweeps, even small ones he will have only few Hurricanes left due to combar losses and writting off. That you lose here Pilots dont matters so much in this one special case. If possible bring even Oscars for Sweeps, they can fly from everything with their low service rating.

@@jochenheiden ah i forgot bevore. Dive attacks against Ports, Airfields etc pretty usless. It gives only a bit more accuracy if any but huge losses to Flak. Better send the Vals outside the dive attack altitude or even better send Kates as they carry 2 Bombs and make always level attack.
