Cattle look great! Finding that balance and seeing the diversity of wildlife that come across is awesome! 👍👍

Been having same issue here, was warm and dry early on the year, then started raining again, but instantly went cold, and so wet that growth waa very slow. Has only just started growing enough so can stop feeding hay, been expensive and at same time beef prices jave fallen by 30%, that's farming 😢. Good to see a video Rob.

That sounds like some stressful times to me. What was the cause of the 30% drop?

We added 25 cedar tree swallow houses down a fence line. Within a week they were all occupied. I know they are eating thousands of flies daily. Planning on adding 25 more spring 25.

I am so jealous! I can not keep invasive sparrows out of my boxes. In fact I have almost taken them down multiple times already this year because I can’t keep up and would rather not help them have places to nest. Got any secrets? Were they on fence posts not too far off the ground?

@@WR_Ranch I’ll see if I can send a photo. They are approx 8-9’ high and 75-100’ ft. Apart.

Weed consumption is all about timing. Unfortunately it's hard to get them where you need them. Cattle look great. Good days are coming. You might want to feed hay for a week to allow the home pasture to grow.

When will you preg check you cows?

I stopped preg checking a few years ago. With such a small herd and with dexters being so fertile it’s pretty easy to figure out who is open. Just have to keep track of the cycles so you know when you should start seeing behavior that will help you decide if they are pregnant or not. Unfortunately I fear I only got 50% bred this year. 👎🏼 but I need to wait for another 21 day cycle to be sure.
Nothing wrong with preg checking, but I just felt like it was a waste of a trip to the vet when I already knew who was bred

I've seen some bulls for lease in Texas, I realize you live too far away to use these, I guess I wonder if there are any folks leasing bulls in your area. Best wishes 😊
