    Would love to see Syd run a 49.9 400mH WR & put the event to bed but as she ran a new 50.65 WR with a 48.74 400m PB, does she just need more 400mH races for a 49.9 WR or does her 48.74 need to come down to the low 48s first for it to happen?! Would love to see Syd pull off the very rare 400m/400mH double @WC/Olympics just once, would be great for her legacy! Also want to see her & Femke commit at least 1 season like next yr to the flat 400m & compete against the likes of Paulino, Adeleke, Kaczmarek, Pryce etc. all season leading into the Tokyo WC!

    I am seeking your thoughts on a classic proposal. Let’s do a relay run off between prime Gatlin, Tyson, Yohan and Bolt vs prime Asafa, Donavon Bailey, Maurice Green and Coleman. What time are we looking at and who is going to win? 😅

    • @jkf9167
      @jkf9167 3 місяці тому

      That's not even fair. It's 1, 2, 3, and 5 of all time vs. 4, 6, 12, and 21. If Team A gets Bolt, Team B should get both Yohan and Gatlin. Team A: Bolt, Tyson, Asafa, Donovan Bailey. Team B: Yohan, Gatlin, Coleman, Maurice Green.
      I don't think either team would be that much faster than the Jamaican world record team of Carter, Frater, Yohan and Bolt or the American record team of Coleman, Gatlin, Michael Rodgers and Noah Lyles, TBH. Is Noah Lyles with a running start really slower than Maurice Green? You've still got to pass the baton, and a lot of Japanese and Italian teams have beaten teams with way better runners. I'd charitably give each team 36.75.

    Femke Bol has most likely been training to run close to that 50.68 WR, she's for sure not going to change anything a few weeks before the Olympics.
    Now Sydney has more or less equaled that WR with a 50.65 (on the same track), but she looked way less spent compared to last time and it's only fair to assume she's going to be in even better shape in Paris. That doesn't necessarily mean it will be another WR (Paris track and weather is not the same), but it should result in her being quite a bit faster than Bol.

In any case, a fair observer would agree that Sydney is more talented as an athlete and a technically gifted overall hurdler than Bol. There is not one attribute that Femke Bol has that will help her overtake Sydney-------------Comeback to reality or else you will be in a world of pain when Sydney destroys her in Paris.

    I don't think that Syd is running 49. That's still another .65 of a second in a technical discipline that she's already mastered. I think Syd runs 50 low and Bol, if she's really dialed, runs 50 high.
    At trials, Syd ran her 14-step pattern through all the hurdles instead of reverting to 15 for the last three hurdles. I think that's part of why she was so fast without really thinking she was going that fast. I hope that Bol and her coaches are also working on maintaining 14 steps for all three hurdles. Bol has more to gain than Sydney from doing this because she's taller and she's more frequently awkward over the last three hurdles. Currently, Bol runs the first 7 hurdles just about as fast as Syd does, and if she has enough time, I don't think it'll be particularly difficult to extend her 14-step pattern to the last three hurdles.
    It's still uphill for Bol because I don't think she's gonna be able to start as fast as Syd and she's not gonna be able to make up time on Syd at the end of the race, but Bol has a chance to run 50 seconds and look relevant.
