    *I upgraded from the 8 inch to the **Newest.Technology** 10 inch. I really didn't expect it to make that much difference but it has. It is also much faster and responsive. Great Purchase.*

    I am a 57 year old Mom and Grandma - I love my Kindle Fire and take it almost everywhere. I read on it every day. I was heartbroken when I dropped it and cracked the screen. I simply watched your video, bought a new screen and fixed it by following along! I did need to buy a tool kit (made it a lot easier) and my screen didn't have the adhesive (hint: make sure you order one WITH adhesive) so I had to get that too. Your trick with the strips of paper sure is an awesome tip!!! wow - makes the re-stick problem non-existent!! I watched multiple videos - yours was the easiest and most straight forward. If I can do this - ANYONE can :)

    I just finished repairing my Kindle Fire and I want to thank you for putting this video out because I watched a few other videos and they tell you to take the whole thing apart and your video is just as you say, quick and easy. So, thank you.

    Excellent tutorial! I especially appreciated the time you took to show the latch connections. I also like the "tape" idea to secure screws but I go one extra step. I put the tape inside a small container that I can seal as I am great believer in Murphy's Law. In any case, Thank You.

    Good straight to the point video, one thing I will say when I did mine the screen was so shattered I just basically peeled the glass back about 1/4" from the edge, then was able to scrape the rest off. Made it fairly easy. Also make sure you use a soft towel to lay it on when putting new screen on. Had a minute size piece of glass on my table and put a small scratch in new screen :(

      @DIYwithdad  10 років тому

      thanks :) Yes cleanup of all the little glass pieces is probably the hardest and most important step of the whole process.

    Thank you!!! Your video made it much smipler than some of the other videos. I was thinking...that ya don't really need to undo the battery. So my screen is cracked, does this mean that it is only the outer screen? And where did you get the tool you used?

    A lot of these videos do not list which version is being worked on. Is this the hd6 or7 or what? I'm trying to find one for the HD Fire 6

    Nice job, but I highly recommend removing the battery (very carefully without bending it) as well, and BEFORE getting a heat gun anywher near that thing, the results of heating a Li-Poly battery above 150F, can be worthy of a 911 call, or two...

    Did you have to buy a new screen before you repaired it? My screen is fine. Do I have to get a new screen before repairing it?

  • @gratefulRed69

    nice tutorial but have a question. What exactly was wrong with this item you fixed? I have this model and the glass screen itself is fine...but when turned on the screen is just a bunch of very thin horizontal lines, creating bands of various colors and shades. So..so I have a "digitizer problem" ?? Is this DIY video relevant to what I am experiencing?? thanks!

      @TasteMyBlackSkittles 6 років тому

      gratefulRed69 I believe that's the LCD (inside the tablet-on the other side of the screen) that you're referring to.

      Please note! this is a screen repair!! There are 2 parts, or layers to a fully functioning display screen: the top glass digitizer, and the LCD. I'm sure you know this, but you are not 100% correct in how you said this. Simile, if your kid brother socked you in the arm it might hurt some, but if the Metalman did it would be much worse, but it is still an arm injury. As with this, the title is correct. Anybody reads this is more clear: This screen repair is the top glass not including a screen repair of the LCD image. beneath it:
      Having to repair the LCD will cost more $.

      ATTENTION: if you want to buy a brand New kindle the best prices are not at Best Buy or Costco or Sears-
      Right now Black Fridays [not a single day anymore but near 2 weeks] specials and Amazon got them for $29.99 and Ebay for $25 or so.

    I'm not sure I would use this video because he's not sure what 1/2 of these items are that he's disconnecting and also telling me that I might damage the outer part as I'm opening it.

      Sorry it was not mine so I cannot check the exact model number. I would assume the steps would be similar, as this was the first and only Kindle screen I have replaced.
