    Could I use homemade chicken broth in place of the water?

    Those look amazing ... From what I see, this is the preferred method for canning dry beans by most people now days. Easy & no mushing beans. Thanks for sharing.

    This video is the first ‘pressure canning cooking’ video I’ve ever viewed. Neighbor gave me a brand-new 16-quart Presto Pressure canner. I’ve been using a Fagor 6-quart pressure cooker for over 10 years. Thank you for this simple, thorough presentation. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    My FAVORITE way to can beans. I've got to replenish my kidney beans and I've got some dried black beans I need to can. :)

    Nice!
    Quick question, how do you ready your jars and lids before placing your dry beans in them? Just basic hot water and soap? Or do you boil them?

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  5 років тому +1

      It is not recommended to boil them any more cause it can ruin the seal but I do wash and rinse them. If I am adding hot food to the jars then I heat up the lids but not to boiling. But as a rule of thumb, Cold food, cold jars, cold lids, cold canner... Hot foods, hot jars, hot lids, Hot canner. Thank you AD.

      @@AD-xe9pn clean jars in hot soapy water, rinse...let cool before packing.
      They will sterilize while pressure canning.
      I think the only time you need to sterilize jars anymore, is when waterbath canning.

    Looks great!what is "siphoning"?mean..thx...when you add water to the canner does it evaporate?

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  5 років тому +2

      Siphoning is liquid being drawn out of the jars during processing. A lot of times it happens when removing jars from the canner and they start to bubble up and spew out liquid from change in temp... The water turns to steam which creates the pressure inside a canner and yes it can evaporate. That is why it is important to add the recommended amount of water. you run out of steam and you lose pressure. Does this help? Thank you Mystique Rose.

    So, these beans are cooked? And how long shelf life? Is it a long time like the dry method?

      What is this ‘dry method’; a canning technique or something else?

    How did you make your pie crust ???

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  5 років тому +1

      1 1/4 C. Flour
      1 stick frozen butter cut into very small pieces
      dash salt
      Ice water.
      Then I made it in the food processor.

    No salt? Why?

    • @LittleVillageHomestead
      @LittleVillageHomestead  5 років тому +4

      I very seldom use salt. Salt is not necessary for canning it is simply added for flavor. the processing is what preserves the food not the salt, therefore you are safe if you need to avoid sodium....Great isn't it?
