does Adam not realize the hypocrisy of scoffing at the idea of Matthews leaving the Leafs yet suggesting Draisitl will leave the Oilers for the Sharks despite them just going to Game 7 of the Cup final?
I scoffed at Burke saying Matthews was going to Arizona after his deal was up… cause he was full of crap and everyone ran with it anyway.

Like how often does an excellent player leave a cup contender for the worst team in the league right after being in the finals? Kopitar brown and doughty have played more games together than Crosby malkin and letang. The Pitt guys were always injured majorly. The Kings guys were never injured.

Brown is not in the same conversation as any of the other players. Crosby's head was treated like a whack-a-mole his first 10 years, Letang had 2 strokes

‘Steve is the feeling’ needs to be on a T-shirt yesterday.
Honestly, Toronto got a gift last year. After all those years, they finally got that cathartic 1st round win to end the Lightning dynasty, and they also gkt their asses kicked by the 8 seed. They both broke the 1st round losing streak _and_ were still definitively shown with no major what-ifs that this core wasn't good enough to win a cup.
It would've hurt, but that was the universe giving them a gift and telling them it was time to change-- and Shanahan took a dump on it

I don't have a horse it this race as a flames fan but the Marner section sounds like: "I rather my team be worse then find out I'm wrong" because frankly everyone here said Matthew Tkachuk wasn't a playoff guy until sudden he was a playoff guy (when it clicked not everything should be a riot - but Steve isn't ready for that convo yet)
Chucky’s second contract wasn’t $10.9m and his contract in Florida is 8 x $9.5m. Marner wants $12.5m plus on his next deal. That’s a huge difference. Also, Leaf fans want a different team - it might be worse but it might be better. Running the same core 4 back is just dumb

It's naive to think otherwise. They claimed they were going to be bold and mitch is the only move that achieves any change. No other team in the cap era has invested so much into 4 players, especially where it is only on forwards. That is a clear failed strategy. You aren't moving John...no one is paying 11 Million for that contract on a declining talent, Matthews is frankly irreplaceable, Nylander makes too much and is your best playoff performer. Who does that leave...Reilly....not going to change the culture of this team with that move. They bald faced lied and they are gutless.

Episode 2 of commenting to compare Stolarz to Woll in Nov 28th game highlights. Both goalies started and made 30+ saves with a 2-1 win in shootouts and 6 blocked shots from Matthews made by Stolarz. The guys should go over this games highlights during the summer to get a decent comparison of the 2

with regard to woll’s injury-prone-ness, as someone with suspected EDS, it sounds like he has a connective tissue disorder. the quote he gave about not needing to train for flexibility at all and instead needing to train strength to “contain his body”, the interview where he said he has a kind of goofy body, sounds very familiar to me! a connective tissue disorder would explain why he gets hurt so often but not really in the same place twice. i feel a bit like i’m overstepping my bounds by parasocially diagnosing the guy, but. if the shoe fits.

When it comes to moving Marner, the part that frustrates me is the Leaf's upper management is focused on not losing a Marner trade and not looking bad. I hate it because it's a losers mentality. There's a chasm of difference between trying to win and trying not to lose.
