DFW Commuter Trains: Trinity Metro's TEXRail

Opening in 2019, TEXRail is DFW's Newest commuter rail connecting Fort Worth, the suburb of N. Richland Hills, Grapevine and the DFW Airport. Service is provided by a fleet of 8 Stadler Flirt DMU's, the first of their kind in the US. Ridership was strong pre-Covid-19, and has increased in recent months, showing a promising future for rail in North Texas. Trinity Metro is already planning a 2 mile extension southwest of Fort Worth which they hope to have in service in the coming years. In addition to the southwest extension, DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) is in the construction phase of their Silver line which will connect to TEXRail at the DFW Airport and provide service to Plano. DART and Trinity Metro hope to eventually provide a one seat ride from Plano to Fort Worth on the two systems.
