  • Introducing the Orangatang Caguama: voluptuous urethane (proportionate in all the right places) for high speed with grip, comfort, and momentum.
    Available now in select shops and at loadedboards.c...
    Fast, Comfortable, & Functional - At 85mm tall, the Caguama provides maximum roll speed for commuting, carving, long-distance pushing, pumping, and electric longboards. The 56mm contact patch with its surface skin provides confident grip, while the subtly rounded edges help the wheels pass smoothly across pavement cracks. Also features a 3-dimensionally faceted outer wheel face.
    Large, Supportive Core - A fully exposed 46mm core with a deep “valley”-shaped cross section (same as in the Kegel) reduces weight while providing good acceleration and lots of momentum. This core is compatible with any electric skateboard that can accommodate Orangatang Kegels, allowing for an even faster and smoother ride.
    Happy Thane Formula - The Caguama is poured in our proprietary Happy Thane formula for high roll speed, excellent traction, and smooth, predictable slides.
    Hatching the Caguama took many years of testing and fine tuning. You’d think we’d be quicker at it by now, but as they say: the devil is in the details.
    Diameter: 85mm
    Width: 58.5mm
    Contact Patch: 56mm
    Durometer: 80a, 83a
    Bearing Seat: Offset
    Formula: Happy Thane
    Core: high-strength, high-stiffness, heat-resistant urethane

    I am a 39 year old man, my body is broken from years of snowboarding and skating. But these wheels are like riding on a Cadillac. They are fast and there is no need for an electric skateboard when the wheels just do all the work. I almost killed myself testing them out on a country down hill road. Highly recommend them

    Hi, will they fit a Dervish Sama, Paris trucks 180 50 with Purple Nipples. Loving you guys, I'm in the UK and wanted a board from the home of surf, boards and wheels. Not to mention very cool vids and great advise. (of course at 53 starting skating again last week after a gap of 35 years, if I fall and break my neck I'll sue for making it look so appealing!, only kidding I hope.)

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому +1

      yes they will fit! It's a close fit though, but with Orangatang Nipples it should work fine! Worst case scenario, you might need a cup washer to make sure wheelbite isn't an issue, mainly depends on how loose you like your trucks overall. Happy shredding and skate safe!

      The Kegels are still our main/performance downhill wheel! The Caguama is fun for going fast, but when it comes to sliding at high speeds, the 80mm Kegel is more balanced, so you've still got gold in your hands!

      Loaded Boards in the review the Icarus board is said to take up to 80mm wheels but I’ve seen posts saying they are using icarus with caguamas? How is this done , when I ordered my Icarus the shop said they couldn’t built it with caguamas without extremely tight trucks or risers because of wheel bite , can you clear this up , is it possible to use caguamas on my Icarus ?

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому +1

      Adler Rene Yes you do! The Kegel will accelerate quicker when you start pushing or pumping, but the Caguama really hits a higher speed because of the larger diameter and momentum from it's more robust nature.

    Guys, are you serious?) They get into trouble with only 2 of your models)
    And the question is, can you write in support of what to start a long discussion of the suitable deck for me? I've been riding for 3 years, I know exactly what I need. But I can not decide.

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому

      We know this is a very LARGE wheel, but our inner carvers and long distance pushers felt the NEED for something even bigger than the 80mm Kegels!
      What kind of decks do you have on your mind? Maybe we can help narrow it down for you!

    • @АрсенийРозенберг-э2л
      @АрсенийРозенберг-э2л 6 років тому

      It will be very long reasoning) (I apologize for Google translator, I am from russia).
      I skate in style: a lot of dancing, a little freestyle, I often use pamping and love the manual) My weight is 75 kg.
      The second of my deck was Tan Tien (flex 1), it had excellent tails, it was perfectly dumb (power screw), pumping on flex was not convenient due to flex 1. But there was not enough space for the dance. After that, I fell in love with these decks. I was impressed by their design, softness, very energetic flex and the ability to put larger wheels.
      So I traded it for a dervish (flex 2). I have dervish so far, it's perfect for dancing, it's very long, it's cool. But, the pumple on it is obtained only at high speed and only at the expense of flex. But he has very small tails. It is long and heavy, and such short tails are not enough to ride comfortably on the manual. In addition, I formed 4 cracks in the hole for the tracks. (photo under the link photos.app.goo.gl/FxMP9kNwr2M3C55TA ).
      I pasted them with a syringe and epoxy glue, but it burst out loud :( And again these large cracks are visible. (The deck does not withstand the load on longitudinal twisting).
      For a long time the deck will not last, and sometimes clicks are heard.
      I'm thinking about buying a new deck. Maybe I should try Icarus?
      His dance is a bit larger than on the dance floor, but much less than on the dervish, but the tails are small (perhaps they will be enough for its small length and weight).
      But my friend has changed the warranty is already 4 decks Ikarus, because of the same cracks in the hole for the tracks. (the deck is correctly matched for its weight).
      I'm afraid that I may have the same thing, but the store may refuse to replace me under warranty. (X3M Bordshop Or Trajectory, I'm going to buy a deck in one of these stores, are they your official dealers?)
      Or again try tan tien, since the difference with the Icarus is small, and the ones are much larger. Or I will later regret that Ikarus has not tried ...)

    Did you have issues getting the back sprocket on enough so you could put the rear nut on? There’s very little room enough for the back nut to screw on all the way, even though it looks like I have the drive sprocket on all the way?? Any suggestions? Please help! Thank you!! Lou

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  5 років тому

      We haven't ever really had an issue with that. Of course, it depends on the trucks you have. Most longboard wheels (and all of ours) use standard skate bearings with an 8mm space in between, which most longboard truck companies design their axle length around. If you feel like you don't have enough threading on your truck for your axle nut to lock on properly, make sure you don't have too many washers on your hangar (the little metal rings).
      Do you know what trucks you are using? And do you know what bearings you are using as well?

    I own the Loaded Icarus, I liked the Fattail with 85 wheels, but I would like to know how it is carving with it,, I am a great passionate about carving, by the city, by parks, indoors, in dreams, the icarus is amazing. What about the Fattail, could help me with this doubt?
    Thank you for making my happiness, hugs from Brazil!

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому +2

      The Fattail differs greatly in flex compared to the Icarus. Since the Fattail is top-mount, you have tons of leverage to get as much tuning out of your trucks as possible.
      We like riding the Fattail Flex 2 or 3 with Paris 150mm Trucks and the Orange Orangatang Caguamas. Thanks to the top mounting and deep wheel cut outs, there is 0.01% of wheelbite with this setup! We even use the stock bushings on the Paris Trucks and have no problems at all!
      With the Fattail, you get an incredibly powerful flex pattern that springs you back hard and fast. When equipped with narrow trucks (e.g. 150mm Paris) you get maximum responsiveness and even more grip!
      To dial in the flex, you also have two wheelbase options for your back truck! Shorter wheelbase gives tighter turning and a stronger flex, longer wheelbase give wider turning with softer flex!
      Get more info about the Fattail here! loadedboards.com/fattail-longboard-skateboard

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому +4

      You are correct, these wheels are designed for speed and grip, but also comfort!
      During the prototyping phase, we decided to focus more on these aspects than try and have another wheel that does what the Kegel already does so well. It's going to take a very long time to wear through the urethane until you start seeing the faceted pattern start to make contact with the pavement.
      Our recommendation is, if you want to kick out big pre drift slides, stick with the Orangatang Kegels, because thats what they were designed for an perform best at!

      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому +2

      Oddly enough, wider doesn't necessarily mean grippier!
      It is a factor in terms of how much speed you shave off when sliding and slowing down, but lip profiles and edge support from large cores are what really determine grippiness.

      Yeah that's what I'm saying, kegels have good edge hold but are wayyyyy slidier than most competitive race wheels, a kegel with a 70mm contact would have a grippier slide and the huge core would still support the lip enough to grip I would think. Basically I want an orangatang Magnum because I don't chug enough liquor or wear enough flannel to skate Venom shit

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  2 роки тому

      You should be alright with most longboard wheels. Bear Trucks tend to push your wheelbase outwards slightly, helping to reduce wheelbite. If you tried using wheels larger than 75mm with really loose bushing, you might find yourself flirting with wheelbite more often than you would like. Keep it at 70mm and you'll be alright!

      I run some caguamas on my tan tien with 180mm trucks and I’ve had zero issues with wheel bite. It’s a great setup if you want something you can push on bumpy roads/sidewalks but also take down hills, and generally do a bit of everything. For cruising, the large wheels with the flex is like riding on a cloud

    Because I skate sometimes on a steely with a groove pattern, I'm thinking about mounting an Icarus with Caguamas, instead of the kegel ones. Also, I'm thinking of mounting the blue caguamas (77a) instead of the orange ones, will the 85mm and 77a combination be too much instead of the 80mm 82a of the standard icarus configuration? What about changing only one variable, the diameter or the hardness, but not both? Thank you very much!

    2nd question :), what are the best setup to really pump (like LDP) on vanguard, but not just with sneaky style but with surfy style something like carver truck with the nice flex of the vanguard like a true snowboard?
    with the standard setup (paris truck and nipple orange bushing) it's really hard to maintain speed on pumping, and the top possible speed on flat ground are not so high... I can reach better top high speed with my Yow surfskate 36" but unfortunately without the nice flex of the vanguard

    I just purchased an Icarus and use 165mm Savants, how do you think the wheel bite would be with these? I own 4Presidents and In Heats already. Just curious about potential wheel bite on my drop through with 165mm trucks! I mean all this within the parameters of hard carving aha. Thanks for the awesome products and for the response, Im loving all the money invested in my deck!

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому +3

      That sounds like such a rippin' setup already!
      Well, in all honesty, it is probably safest to stick with your current wheels of 70mm or 75mm. You can run 80mm wheels, but there is a chance for wheelbite with such narrow trucks. The main issue, it that with narrow trucks, it pulls the inner lip of the wheel closer to the center of the board, where the flares begin mellowing out so there is more bamboo and board material sitting closer to the truck. With 180mm trucks, you'll be fine on 80mm and 85mm wheels because it pushes the inner lip of the wheel away from the center of the board and towards the deepest part of the wheel flares.
      The Icarus is designed to carve and flow with you in the streets. You can probably fit 80mm or 85mm wheels on it with your 165mm trucks, but you'll be sacrificing the ability to turn and carve deep. We say stick with what you got and get wiggling!

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому +6

      You will need a skate tool, a 3mm Hexagonal allen key, and a flat head screw driver.
      First take off the axle nut on the truck, then use the 3mm hex tool to remove the two screws locking down the motor cap.
      Once you remove the motor cap, you reveal the 4 motor screws and the motor gear. Loosen (but do not remove) the 4 motor screws with your 3mm hex tool. Then slide the motor towards the tail of the board to release tension on the belt.
      When belt tension is released, you will be able to slide the wheel off the of the axle.
      Using the flat head screw driver as a wedge, you can insert it in between the gap of the wheel and the black gear. Slowly pry the gear away from the wheel while spinning the wheel in a circular motion so you can apply pressure on all side of the gear. Eventually, you will remove the gear and be ready to place it into your new wheel.
      Fit the gear into the core of the Caguama (uses the same core, so everything lines up) then press down until it feels snug. If you can pick the wheel up off the ground from the gear, then it should be good.
      Next place the belt back on the motor gear, slide the wheel and gear into place. You might need to spin the wheel to get the belt to wrap around the gear fully. Once you have the belt around the gear, screw the axle nut back on to the hangar and use your skate tool to tighten it down.
      Tightening down the axel nut, with the wheel gear and belt properly in place, will act as a press that will lock the gear snuggly and firmly into the core fo the Caguama. Tighten it all the way down until the axle nut stops, then reverse the axel nut about 1/4 turn in to loosen a little bit of the pressure to avoid choking the bearing.
      Be sure to tighten the 4 motor screws AFTER you set the motor back into the original position by pushing it AWAY from the tail of the board. This makes sure your belts have tension again and won't slip when you accelerate. Once they have some tension, tightening the screws will lock the motor into place.
      Put the Motor Cap back in place, tighten the two motor cap locking screws to make sure it is secure.
      Power up your board and make sure everything is working properly. You should be good to ride!

      Honestly, it's going to be a similar experience. Since these wheels have an even larger diameter, they have more weight and momentum to them, so they REALLY hold their speed.

    • @LoadedBoards
      @LoadedBoards  6 років тому

      The Orangatang Caguamas are poured in our special Happy Thane Formula, which is an ultra high rebound urethane designed for smooth riding and fast roll speed.
      The Caguamas are 85mm tall, which gives them the ability to roll over just about anything in the road or sidewalks while also allowing the wheel to maintain it's momentum to carry you further and longer with each push.
      The Caguamas also use a wide supportive core that keeps the edges of the urethane stiff so that the wheel can grip better to the ground and have a very slow and even wear pattern throughout their life.
      Also, being a perfectly round and cylindrical wheel, you won't feel any funny wobbles whenever you turn, which helps you keep your speed in and out of carves.

      Great question, Ju-hyeok! That recommendation was intended to highlight one possible application for the firmer of the two duros. 83a is a great choice for long-distance push races, in particular, which are generally held on sanctioned courses with relatively smooth pavement throughout. In these settings a slightly firmer urethane will generally roll faster. For truly LONG-distance applications (such as pushing your skateboard across hundreds or even thousands of miles of unpredictable and often poor-quality pavement, the softer 80a option will most definitely be optimal. :) Hope that clears things up a bit! -K
