This WEC season is going to be amazing with all the hypercars. I finally get to see more manufactures besides Toyota all alone since 2018
It’s gonna be even better 2024&2025 you got Lamborghini, De Tomaso, Honda, BMW, Alpine, Isotta Fraschini and Alfa Romeo and McLaren incoming
We have a new golden age ✨️ 😀 💛
Only if the new teams are able to get the speed and reliability of the Toyota’s. Hopefully, it’ll only take two races plus BoP to make it happen
@@kpl4174 Only Lamborghini, BMW, Alpine and Isotta Fraschini are confirmed. Let's wait and see if any other manufacturer will join WEC.
@@wolfmancool i think 2 races is a little bit optimistic tbh but hopefully you're right
Dear Lanky, i don't know who you are, but i love your videos. Especially with this crappy coverage by the WEC, it is amazing to wake up in Germany and have this quality content in one of the most hotly antecipated events of the Motorsport year. Many, many thanks!!
Exactly You ROCK. Nothing on formal channel and all we have is from You. Thanks @!!!
Thank you Nuno I appreciate it!
Best production of getting content out for us motorheads. The academy award goes out to "LANKY TURTLE"🐢 🐢🐢🐢 . What a highlight of the day. Three postings so far. And I know it's more to come
Haha thanks! I'll have more starting with Practice 1 on wednesday!
After all the years the 911 rsr still has the best sound 😍
08:40 that slide by Ferrari 😍
4 wheel drift !
The Vanwall car sounds amazing!!
Im not a fan of the Ferrari v6 thought. Have you heard the Cadillac when the engine kicks in ? Just wow the v8 sound so aggresive.
@@nathanasselin9179 the Cadillac engine screams "USA" everytime it passes by
@@Nicks62999 yesss baby whats better than an american v8? Just look at NASCAR and the time they are on full pedal. (Lol im french canadian i didnt know the word to use, I hope u understood) :)
Is it just me or does the vanwall sound quieter in this footage vs early testing? That thing freaking SCREAMED in the footage I was watching a few months ago, in this it sounds like they muffled it or something like for track regulations or something. Which is weird because the caddy is still roaring at full volume.
@@johnsullivan937 you're right, maybe it has to do with the camera microphone (?) Idk, either way still is louder than some of the others Hypercars
I hope Peugeot wins something this year. I want their design risk to be rewarded with on-track success.
I guess they can always buff and nerf vehicles and call it a “balance of performance”
@@hornetguy9063that would be a really lame move
@@aaronbryan5095 I mean the goal is getting all of these cars operating in the same performance window, right? And AFAIK it’s all manual, so they can easily just get it wrong and hand a manufacturer a massive advantage. Like in Monza where they basically OP’d SCG (who managed to DNF, good job guys)
A pillar of the motorsports community! Thanks LT
Thanks man!
The front of the Glickenhaus is very of the 70's , 80 I like it !!. The Peugeot is spectacular futuristic , different, hopefully to work , he deserves by innovative.
The front of the Glickenhaus reminds me of the Lola T70
I think that's the advantage of LMH ruleset as it allows more freedom in the car's design since it's built from scratch. Unlike LMDh which uses an already existing LMP2 as a basis. That's why we have a GT-ish look from the GR010, the wingless design from the 9X8, and the retro-ish look from SCG 007
11 cars in the Hypercar class for WEC, 8 GT-P class cars for IMSA, 16 cars projected for Le Mans and MORE coming next season. Folks. If you've ever said "I wish I knew I was in the middle of seeing history" before, this is one of those times, realize it, and enjoy the hell out of it... It's rare.
The abundance of Hypercars next season along with a projected huge entry when LMGT3 comes in next year is the reason why WEC scraps LMP2 for the next season leaving P2s exclusive to regional series and probably IMSA
Excellent video as always, Lanky Turtle. This 2023 WEC season with a boatload of Hypercars on track at the same time is going to be unreal!
The Glickenhaus is amazing (all of them are)
I agree, it's got a fascinating retro look.
Lanky is back at it, with better coverage than IMSA
Love the look of the Peugeot.
Not even F1 has such a squad of manufacturers!
Wait until the run with the American Hyper cars too! So many manufactures! Great competition is finally back!
@@Jason-gt2kx they are running with the american hypercars (gtp (lmdh rules) cars), porsche and cadillac are gtp cars
Man I’m so exited for this season, seeing all the hypercars together on track just made me more hyped, and I gotta say that Cadi and the Vanwall sounds are just the best, nice camera work tho.
Cadillac livery is very nice, Toyota looks fantastic this year, and those sticky uppy bits on the rear wing of the Glickenhaus are something else!
I've always found those sticky uppy bits interesting too!
BIG thanks man for this video👍
Hyperсаги awesome, I really like Toyota GR010 Evo, Ferrari 499P, Peugeot 9x8 and Glickenhaus SCG 007🤩🔥💪
Thank you so much for posting this. Excellent work and much appreciated.
Thanks for checking out the video Paul!
Thank you Lanky for always coming through with these videos. Can’t wait to see your Sebring 12 hour video
Thank you as always Jared!
Thank you for this great video! All the hypercars looks amazing and are so different. I hope ACO gives Glickenhaus and Vanwall a BoP Boost, because they are privateers. Cant wait to see them all racing next week. 11-13 hypercars are great. And next season we will maybe have additionally:
- 1 963 Proton & 1 963 Hertz
- 2 9x8 Pescarolo
- 1 Isotta Fraschini
- 2 Lamborghini
- 2 Alpines
- 2 BMW
- 2 Honda
So potentially up to 26 (13+13) Hypercars in the WEC.
I believe it will only be one Alpine and Lambo next year (apart from Le Mans where Lambo may bring the 2nd car which would be running in IMSA).
bop from last year for the glick was fine, they got the pole in monza, but reliability is a problem still for them, vanwall we will see, but bop from last year across all 4 cars was very good imo
Lamborghini confirmed 1 car for WEC and IMSA Michelin cup, but for Le Mans they will add one car
I know it was all political when the manufacturer was bought but watching the Valkyrie videos in the last few days really did make me wonder what the Aston would’ve done against this field. Amazing looking and sounding race car. I’m hoping for a repeat of the McLaren F1 GTR and some rich billionaire will want to take it racing. Lol.
Thanks so much for posting this LT! Am SO stoked for this year's WEC!! Bring it on!!!
It's going to be amazing to hear those 3 Cadillacs screaming at nearly 9 thousand rpms down them straights at LeMans, oh and the cup car. Everyone that is going is lucky they get to experience all these amazing cars this year
Excellent work, thanks for posting! Great to see these cars on track all together finally.
Thanks for sharing these shots of new cars.
Thanks Lanky! Always the best coverage.
Thanks!
Thanks again LT for the great coverage!!
Thanks for watching the vid!
They all look different, they all sound different..... This is the start of something amazing
So cool to see so many new prototypes and set up phylosophies. The Peugeot with NO rear wing to cause drag won't do well on shorter tracks but on the long straights at Le Man it should shine. I cant wait to see the American Hybrid cars run against these Euro Hyper cars at the 24!
gonna go nerd mode here, but the peugeot is actually much slower in the straights bc the front of the car is very draggy
@@MrtnStrk based on my eyes, and a straight line speed from fuji, but i cant find a link to that anymore so maybe iam wrong
@@MrtnStrk Based on all previous races it took part in. The Peugeot has less top speed than the Toyotas despite having more power available. This year however looks like they finally adressed it by updating the aero. All hypercars are topping 290km/h in Sebring.
Watching Sports Cars @ Sebring NEVER gets old !😆
RSR still the best sounding car out there....though Cadillac does give it a run for its money
Awesome footage mate, glorious audio!
Thanks LT!
Thanks Dave!
✌ Great footage, we'll look out for you trackside!
Thank you! I hope you guys have a great race!
8:36 That drift on the exit! I can feel that...
This 2023 season with the hypercars is going to give me nostalgia, especially when we see them roll at le mans.
I remember when they announced the hypercar class back in Le Mans 2018. Well now time's come to see it on track properly.
absolutely depressing BoP cars compared to the pinnacle of lmp1 we had in '18. and it isn't even closer on times
@@PHHE1 LMP1 was a Zombie class by then, overly expensive, only real competitor was Toyota and the rest just aiming at 3rd place at best. Hypercar was needed, and also, BoP has provided excellent racing in the classes where it exists.
I don't tire of listening to that Corvette and the Porsches doing fly-bys. All sound good in different ways, but those two stand out more in my ears.
The best looking car is still the light blue Glickenhaus with the radical Peugeot a close second.
My parents live 2 hours from Sebring, but I am stuck up here in Wyoming. I did go to the Roar when I visited my parents in January, so I shouldn't complain.
Oh, that Porsche GTE acceleration sounds... Thanks LT, this is awesome stuff!
Yeah they sound great, I'm really going to miss that sound next year
I like that the WEC cars have more variety in the bodies.
They have very low downforce targets in the formula so the car designers can prioritize styling. This makes a design like the Peugeot with no rear wing viable
Slow and boring baby LMP1's
@@fingerprints2983 I’d rather have competitive racing than F1 prototypes.
It’s just a different set of regulations. WEC “hypercar" requires a car bespoke from the ground up. IMSA “hypercar" has to use a spec chassis underneath (although heavily developed) However the cost savings are huge so in my view I prefer IMSA’s route because it allows smaller companies to race in the top class. So the IMSA cars tend to have the same proportions I guess.
Was looking forward to this video all day. Thanks as always LT. Will be at Sebring in 4 days!
Thanks for watching the video! Have fun at the races!
At 1:00 you can see how the track gets more and more rubber layed down because of the wheelspinn they do out of this chicane.
Nice to see on a light track like these.
Amazing field this season. Thanks Lanky.
Merci pour les images👍 , ça fait plaisir ,
Cette saison s'annonce palpitante
I cant wait to hear that Cadillac at Le Mans
I can't wait for the season to start! And I especially can't wait to see these cars irl at monza!
Thanks again Mr Turtle!! I was at Sebring in 1963, but I am in Washington state now so I depend upon you for these highlights -- Thanks a lot!!
Thanks I'm glad you enjoy the videos! I wish I'd been around to see them race back then. There's quite a bit of video of Sebring from the 60's and even 50's on youtube that I watch a lot.
Awesome Brian, incredible work as always! Can’t wait…just a few more days 🏁Looking forward to seeing ya!
Thanks Mike! I'll see ya thursday!
It’s really silly that they don’t show us this stuff, thanks!
The Giz needs to be in one of these. Any team who had him behind the wheel will lose absolutely nothing. His baseline will be very near to required race pace. Real life race experience and team data is all that is needed for him to figure it out in his style of trial and error. Once that's figured out everybody will be thinking how do you get up to speed so quickly?
His track record is already at a very high calibre for his achievements to date. But more impressively is how he has gone about doing it. If anything has a working engine in it and you can race it SVG take every last drop of speed out of the car needed not only for a race win, but to win everything still continuing to prove he is fast in or on everything that drives or rides.
He will go good in these, l love the idea of a race seat for he campaigner. l would not be mad about it at all ⛳
He's a great driver, I've seen him race a few times over here in the GT class at the Rolex 24
Great job Lanky! Thank you for bringing this content to us!
Thanks!
Glickenhaus looks so fkn badass
Thank you Lanky Turtle for sharing this footage of the WEC Prologue from Sebring!

Great work on T7!! Hey Peugeot! I am in love.
Can't get enough of the micro bounces in the chicane
Thanks for this upload, great!
I plan on going for a 2nd time to the Spa 24h, but now I might go to the 6 hours as well, they all look and sound spectacular !!!
Let's get it started!!!
Great stuff. Thank you for this.
I love how the different brands of cars each have their own unique sound.
All of these new cars and gorgeous, but zip really love the Peugeot, it's so different, sleek and mean. Reminds me of the old Mercedes.
Excellent, excellent shots. Beautiful video
Thank you Ken!
Great camera work. I subscribed.
Thanks Chas!
F#@king awesome! slides, dust, engines noise. GREAT!
That's what it's all about! Gotta get down by the fence at a race and take it all in, so much better than sitting at the top of a 150 foot grandstand or watching on tv!

That Caddy is just.. wow.
Good sound bites!thank you for posting.

1. Ferrari definitely going for the loose is fast approach
2. Man how I wish Acura and BMW were competing in the WEC race

With Porsche and Peugeot, we have two Audi-beaters now vying to become Toyota-beaters too. If only Bentley would come back to complete the Audi-beater trio...
Thank you Lanky Turtle

Been waiting for this one. Happy to see it
Dear Lanky, I'll be at the race for the first time this week. Can you suggest the best spots on the track for photos? Thanks Damien.
Yeah the whole thing! The fences are real low everywhere except the front straight and outside the turns. Turns 3-5 are great for photos, you can stand on the big mound or go down by the fence. Turn 7 hairpin is great on either side.
As Porsche guy, I still love the Puegot. Would love to that thing do well. Such a unique car.

On another front, its interesting to see how silenced the Top Class has become with its turbos. Only Cadillac, Porsche and SCG make some noise - in one instant it seems the Ferrari 499's sound was covered by the 488 in front of it - and its not like the 488 is very loud at all. Lanky, what is your take on this? (the Vanwall car to me does'nt really count, it has an old Alpine engine in it if i'm correct).
i agree tbf, sounds are not the loudest.
all the cars engines:
Vanwall: Gibson GL458 4.5 litre V8 naturally-aspirated
Cadillac: Cadillac LMC55R 5.5 L V8 naturally-aspirated Hybrid
Porsche Porsche 9RD 4,593 cc V8 twin-turbocharged Hybrid
Toyota: Toyota H8909 3.5 L V6 Twin-turbo Hybrid
Ferrari: Ferrari 2,992 cc 120° V6 twin-turbocharged Hybrid
Peugeot: Peugeot single-speed reducer 2.6 litre V6 twin-turbo Hybrid
Glickenhaus: PIPO P21 3.5 litre V8 twin-turbo
Sauce: wikipedia
I hate it, the cars have so much more personality when they have unique and loud exhausts. A quiet one here and there is ok, but when the whole field is muffled it loses some excitement. If the Porsche 963 had something like the RSR engine in it people would be going crazy for that car. The Vanwall has the Gibson LMP1 engine and I think it's the best sounding LMH and the Cadillacs are the best sounding LMDh
@@LankyTurtle the peugeot sounds so bad, and the toyota aswell
@@LankyTurtle Thanks for the reply, thats very sad to hear....VERY SAD..because a large part of motorsport experience comes through the ears. An easy fix would be to change the exaust layout over time just like some GTLM cars have done in the past. How can we as fans reach out to IMSA/WEC to ask for this? Maybe a mini digital protest?
LT... Thanks! 👏🙌🏁
