I bought the 60 and then immediately upgraded to the 200. I was a Helix guy for years so this just feels natural to me. Very reminiscent of the old Flextone series I always loved. I have tube amps and other plugin options as well as different modelers, and the Catalyst has become my fav go to solution. Well done Line 6.
Yeah this definitely reminds me of a Katana, i used to have the line 6 spider 4 Jam amp. I absolutely hated it , was way to confusing and too many buttons and knobs to figure it out. I ended up selling it and bought the Katana , way more simplified!
Dagan is an awesome Presenter (I think that's what Brits call host). He's fair, thorough, and can play his ass off. When he gives his opinion on stuff it comes across as authentic and reliable. Keep up the good work, Dagan. Love the channel!
If you're using something like a quad cortex and looking for a speaker to play through, using this with the FX loop as an input from the modeler is a great solution rather than laying down $799 for a good attenuator and a cab. Plus a great backup should the modeler hick-up during a gig. Would have preferred to see a bluetooth midi option to eliminate a midi cable though.
I bought the 100mk2 katana and absolutely love it!! Couldn't be happier.. but it was a hard decision between the 2. The catalyst is only one out there that sounds as good or maybe better depending on taste.. I'm really happy with boss . Have used there stuff for years and it's bullet proof so far.. 🤘🤘can't go wrong with either!! Cheers

I've had the Catalyst 200 for a few weeks. This thing and my strat are in love. The amp sounds so good i may just keep it. I sold my Katana Mk2 head and cab shortly after getting it.
Well sht.. I just bought Katana 100 mk2 like two days ago :D. And I'm perfectly happy with it too, but there's a change I might have waited for the Catalyst had I known it exists

I just got the new line 6 stereo amp spider V mk 2 amp and I'm happy as heck with it so far with just the few things I have figured out how to do, like using the drum loops for practice and dialing in the killer tones this thing has ! A big plus is that you can use this amp for bass and accoustic guitar and use the looper to have bass and accoustic guitar with a drum track ! It's great and full of killer tones !
I had a friend that recently purchased a hot Rod deluxe sounded beautiful as expected if you don’t mind the rattle coming from one of the power tubes sounded like a chandelier hanging loosely from the ceiling it was under warranty from GC he brought it back they gave him another brand-new HRD the same thing happened a very noticeable rattle coming from a power tube it really put a bad taste in the mouth about dealing with tube amps These newer solid-state amps are really closing the gap it might be the way to go !?!?
I usually hate solid state amps,but this one sounds good. I’m going to go tmrw to try one out. I’m normally a fender hot rod guy, but hate the weight and the drama that comes with those amps. Hot rods have quality issues as well.

This is cutting edge line 6 technology. It’s called solid tube state. It also has a hidden channel called whizzy for the fizzy because we all know line 6 is the master of fizz!
I have a Spider III, 75w x 1 12" celestion, and for my purposes, it is one bad ass amp. I record at home, and do all the music so with the Spider III I can find just the exact tone I need, from either the presets, or I can create just what I want. So when everyone poo poos on Line 6, chances are they have never played one. This Catalyst seems really a cut above, and I feel the old wallet getting warm. BTW, how much are they selling for?
Now we have both Boss katana and Line 6 Catalyst, of course i think there would be new hybrid analogic and modeling style Amps, next i think would be a new Marshall, Vox and Fender joining on competition against Boss Katana in this style of amps.

Missed opportunity. Wish they had included Helix integration. MIDI is not user friendly. Somebody who buys a Helix for its ease of programming and the Catalyst for its simplicity isn't gonna want to dive into MIDI programming to make them work together. Still interested but Line 6's left hand seems to be unaware of their right.
So many missed opportunities. Why not put the controls like the Katana Artist? It immediately makes it seem mo upscale and like it’s designed for compete with the more expensive artist. Footswitch sound be bundled. Doesn’t cost a lot to make but it makes the amp much more useful for the player.

Just got mine. Has some unique tones for sure, with the classic tube response. But for the life of me I can't dial in my Marshall tone. Have a DSL40C which I love. But too big to carry around for small impromtu sessions. So i've been searching. Have the PG Spark. Have the Blackstar HT5R. And now the L6 Catalyst. None give me the full, cabinet sound of the Marshall. Not even close. I think since these others don't have a "Resonance" boost (which I have on 8 on the DSL) everything sounds thin. Anybody know what I'm talking about and/or have suggestions? Looking for the full sound in a small footprint.

I miss that 4/12 90lb. cab sound also, but I don’t play at those sound levels anymore. Most everyone complains about modelers and small one speaker amps missing that air pressure coming from 4 speakers. So far, no one’s been able to replicate that with technology.
@@Hoagiemon On my first generation Peavey Vypyr 1-12" 75 watt combo amp I unplugged the stock speaker and installed a input jack to the stock speaker wires and now I can plug my 2-12" 0r 4-12" cab in and it sounds amazing now if you need a bigger sound..
I was about to go for the Cat because of the better and warmer sound but it’s kinda sad you can only have one effect at once. In the katana you can have up until 3 at once + delay and reverb so its sad cause the cat had way more potential
I use my spider 5 mkii alot especially when I want to use my looper because my katana mkii 50 don't take the looper in front of the amp unless u on freaking clean bs. Plus my katana don't take my iPad smh which is total bs because alot of people only have apple products like iPhone and ipads... so to use the katana tone studio I need to use my old android phone that the battery dies quickly. Plus I just bought the iPad before the katana so I could use it on both amps but I couldn't and I couldn't even use my old android phone until after I ordered an adapter online to hook it from the ethernet... cable to the adapter to the phone shit I would of bought a laptop or a android tablet if I knew all that bs and it's like a mini c or something so I have to get another adapter with a regular c and female USB smh to go to this new android phone .... so yeah boss katana isn't always as great as people say especially if u got the mferin 50 ... I'd say buy the 100 if u use a looper lol

LOL. But consider the features, versatility AND weight differential. From a weight perspective, these amps are light and won't break anyone's back. 60w 1x12: 26lbs, 100w 1x12: 32lbs; 100w 2x12: 42lbs. You find me any 2x12 all valve amp that only weighs 42lbs!! And you won't need to spend £100 plus to retube it. I've had loads of valve amps and I still have three, but at my age I just can't carry them anymore.
I had a mesa 25watt recto verb and ended up using the gt100 boss through the clean channel for low Lou me playing as mesa need cranking. So basically tune amps need opening up which is not great for the neighbours

Went through many hot rods with same issues. Changing tubes doesn’t always help. I’m done with them.

What's the Amp that models the power tubes? It's a modeling Amp but you can switch among 6l6, el84, and 2 others. Can't remember.

@@rosskrause3926 it’s almost impossible to replicate all those speakers without actually plugging into them like your doing. That’s a good workaround.

I had a mesa 25watt recto verb and ended up using the gt100 boss through the clean channel for low Lou me playing as mesa need cranking. So basically tune amps need opening up which is not great for the neighbours
I have not heard a decent metal tone out of this amp in any any video. The Catalyst is a Katana copy anp that does not have the tone of the Katana. Garbage....

Line6 is basically trash, I apologize if it offends but us my view. I have extensive gear and do not bad mouth many brands or efforts publicly
I believe the brand is poor money spent as a upgrade is enviable.. Never spend good money after bad on gear mate

I currently have a Line 6 Pod Go and it's superb through headphones, my Headrush FRFR108 and through the FX return of my amps. I've used valve amps for most of my life - everything from Fender Blackface/Silverface twin reverbs and Orange to Vox AC30 top boost (6 input) , Marshall JCM800, JTM45, Super 100. I still have 5 amps - Marshall JCM200DSL401 (with Classic Lead 80), Valvestate Mk1, Laney Cub 12R (with Vintage 30) , VC30-210 plus 1x12 extn cab, and Vox Valvetronix AD120VTX with AD212 cab. And I'd gig with the Line 6 Pod Go any day of the week!
