Shuffle your feet. Been surfing for 25 years in heavy stingray area, no stings so far. Some times you feel when you kick them a bit and they run away but their stinger almost only hits when you step on them.

Was going to comment on the same thing other people have - the drone shots in this and a bunch of other videos you've done are so way cool. They are one of the big reasons I subbed, and the reason I call my wife over "you gotta see this!".
Trust me. I have been on fire from my waist up, I've had a heart attack that felt like an Elephant stomping on my chest... And I've had a Stingray barb me in the end of my big toe!! The pain was immense that it felt like a flat head screwdriver drove in the end of my toe and being Twisted all around! It was so bad it made me so nauseated I cannot even describe how bad the pain was! You never never ever want to get hit by a stingray oh, that's all I can say! Good luck and tight lines my friend! Wish I could come to Texas and fish with you one day!
Got hit by my first stingray this past fall.. even doing the shuffle and all. There were a lot around that week. I’ll say this: I’ve had some incredibly painful events and this one was up there at the very top. Basically like putting my foot in a fire pit for an hour straight. My advice: get your injured area in the hottest water you can tolerate immediately. It brings the pain level down significantly. Great footage as always.. fish on!
Nice video man, one thing I learned while Gigging for flounder when I was younger is slide your feet on the bottom if you’re waking slow like that, keeps you from stepping on a stingray instead you just slide into it and the will swim away.
I'm head down to PINS next friday with two other trucks to fish the big tides at Big Shell and the shipwreck at Mile 51. If you're up for the trek, the more the merrier!

Great vid'. Love the drone cuts of live action. You know what to do if you get stung by a stingray, right, Coop? Get somewhere as fast as possible where you have access to hot water. Run water as hot as you can stand it on the wound. That will denature the proteins in the poison and make it stop hurting immediately. Aaaahhh! Wonderful relief! Then get medical attention for the wound; tetanus shot; antibiotics, etc.
I heard that dragging your feet slowly will typically drive away the stingray, you just do not want to step on them is what you want to avoid since the barb is flat in the tail will stay down if you just brush them away.

You should do a video with your aerial drone footage explaining what to look for when wade fishing ex. pot holes, or a sandy bottom or other things to look out for in order to have a successful day on the water, thanks!
I was wade fishing in matagorda bay and shufling my feet welp i stepped on a sting ray, that barb into the top of my foot was the most pain ive felt. In the end recovered over 2 months with lots of swelling and draining puss, 2 foot surgeries , 2 xrays an mri and 5 rounds of antibiotics. Tetanus shot and morphine. They said most people go unconscious after being stung. Something to think about if your wade fishing solo bro. Invest in the carbon wade boots. Keep up the great content
Thresher. Great vid! What kind of line do use on your baitcasters? A friend of mine is trying to talk me out of using braid as mainline because of the potential for it to cut into your spool. Seems to be a huge debate online so wondering what your thoughts are. its hard to tell in the video what you have on there.
