If no difference, put back I at 200°F for 1/2 hour, then raise to 275 for 1/2 hour, then raise to 325 for 4 hours.

    Great job, I know how snappy these flakes can be. You handled it well. this point would kill a deer or a bear placed properly. Enjoyed the video.

    Went on a creek hunt yesterday. Had some decent luck. Found some points and 4 peices of glass and bottle bottoms to knap. 😎

    Everyone knows that grinding and flaking is way harder than plain old knapping.

    In one of your videos you commented on the airplane noise going overhead and mentioned that you were near an airfield that has vintage aircraft or something like that. Well, yesterday, I kid you not, I hear this distinct sound - oh my gosh - I look up and see a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. I couldn't believe it. What a thrill :)

      Nice! Yeah, we have an international air & space port in our city, and the WWII museum in Sweetwater, TX, flies their planes back and forth occasionally.

    You should probably add some lithium to your minerals... 😁

    I just found a piece of fire obsidian laying around (scoundrels renamed it fire magnatite so they could steal the claim ) I know where stuff is 😉 where are you located ?

    The reason why the steel gets blunted so quickly is that steel and glass have the same hardness (at least on the Mohs scale) and what you're working with is probably just a bit harder than glass, so it's scratching the steel they time you slide them along each other.

    And I've been meaning to ask ya, you used to work with copper but not anymore. What was the reason and should I follow and switch to steel and aluminum?

    • @KnapperJackCrafty
      @KnapperJackCrafty  Рік тому +1

      I still work with copper sometimes, just not on video. I use other metals because some people have said they don't work. They are clearly wrong.

      Copper needs a lot of upkeep which Jack dislikes a lot.😁
      Aluminum is close to antler in the way it peels off flakes without the antler cost. I use everything all the time, copper iron, aluminum, bone, rock, antler, wood. If one thing doesn't work I try another until it works or breaks. Use what works for you.
      Sorry Mr. Crafty you left a few things out😁

      @KnapperJackCrafty I have used aluminum and I can agree that it works. I find it to be like antler the way it wears down with usage also.
