Excellent video, Anne. The UI improvements are certainly welcome, but they feel a bit pointless when essential functionality is still missing. For years, the Query Loop has lacked basic features like 'Exclude Current Post,' 'Order by Menu Order,' and support for custom post types. Unfortunately, this update does nothing to address these ongoing limitations.
Totally hear you. I have a list of my own items I want to see the Query Loop block support for more advanced use cases. We'll get there! For now, it's been a bit since we had revisited the wide feedback around usability for the average user. This foundation for 6.7 then will make it easier in the feature to expand what's there (including what we show or hide by default).
@@AnneMcCarthyI hope your own items are added to the Query Loop soon. It's a shame to have to use a third-party query loop to achieve basic functionality. Thanks again for the video.
This is great! However, why is the custom post types option missing? It is essential and a fundamental part of WordPress, especially for many org users. Did I overlook it?
Oh! That's there. Check this out: github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/63375#issuecomment-2225297504 When there are multiple options, like custom post types, they will appear as a dropdown instead of the Posts and Pages toggle :)

This test site just didn't have that set up.
