Tordsworld "All of the different types of Puyos are different shapes. That's how you can easily differentiate between them." With a screen as small as a potato, good luck.
Given that SEGA was the one that kind of made that game since it was on their arcade hardware, I would not be surprised if their systems replicate it the best. Also, the Mega Drive just sounds FAR more badass in comparison to the others. Even the Game Gear sounds better than most of them do. If the Saturn had the first game, I bet it would have sounded far superior if they aimed for simply upping the sound quality in place of remixing it and simply making a straight port of the arcade version with no altercations whatsoever aside from extra menu settings.
+Espee, Oh, original for sure. I consider what MBM did like somebody painting a bigger smile on Mona Lisa cause the original doesn't look good enough. But besides that, the drums they use feel overbearing and they made it louder so that it downplays the rest of the instrumentation altogether. It's still a good game in its own right, but I don't like comparing it to the original since it feels strange that they had to re-skin it at all to me.

Me: hehe people actually care what thing they play their funni circl game on? how peculiar. as long as it has funni brightly colored circle game I’m ok. (we don’t talk about the gameboy version)
so, rather than simply saying which version is my favorite, here are my thoughts on each version: Genesis: classic version that everyone knows. Game Gear: simple, yet charming. one of my personal favorites. NEC: literally just a compressed version of the original. Mean Bean Machine: literally just the original, just with heavier percussion and some slight changes in instrumentation. SFC: sounds pretty nice, but the sample used for the lead at the beginning is a bit lacking. PC Engine: simple like the game gear, yet somehow sounds worse. not to say i thought it was bad, just not as good as some of the others. GB: the Game Boy's limitations REALLY didn't do this song any favors. or the game itself, for that matter. FM Towns: sounds AWESOME starting off, but the pitch slides are a bit... unnecessary. other than that, this is EASILY one of my favorites! Saturn: WAY different, but not necessarily bad. i personally really like it! Ketteiban: baseline and percussion are AWESOME; but the pitch slides REALLY turn me off on this one, even more so than the FM Towns version. BOX: tries to be the original, but doesn't quite nail it. 15th: amazing, and a HUGE step in the right direction in terms of modernization! 20th: takes what 15th did and improves upon it even more! truly excellent!
11:39 is my favorite theme. It sounds like it belongs in a Hyperdimension Neptunia OST. Also, in general, they should make a Hyperdimension Neptunia version with the bean combo formula style of game. That would make me very happy. It would have every main villain from the series.
