Have you considered freeze drying? I love having freeze dried chicken chunks, onion, ground beef, vegetables, etc. so easy, less fridge space needed, etc. purchased freeze dried foods usually have preservatives but I freeze dry my own fruits, vegetables and meats. No added ingredients. Chicken (cooked) rehydrates in minutes and tastes freshly cooked.
Well Done..Sorry above your health issues.. I am from South Africa.. I came to know u from Marrys Nest..love your videos..God bless u n Mike for taking Care of the kids..❤ u are so sweet..Tee Clarke..
We are moving more and more to that as our kids have grown. It was always 3 gifts a want, a need and something for a hobby or craft. And then if I got extra bonuses (I used to own a housekeeping company) then other surprises that were mostly winter clothes.
Amy, I’m trying not to overwhelm you with questions but I’m grateful for everything that I’m learning from you. Can I ask, what do you wipe your floor messes up with if you don’t use paper towels? I use them because I wash dishes with a sponge, and I don’t wanna wipe the floor with the same sponge I do the dishes with. What are your thoughts? Good bless and protect your family. 💝
I owned a housekeeping company for 15 years. I use microfiber clothes to wipe up spills on the floor and to mop. I have a rule ones something touches the floor it goes to the laundry so I never wipe a spill and lift the towel back up to the counter. I use washcloth size microfiber clothes to wash dishes. and use a new one every day.
I’ve started to switch everything into glass. It’s only my husband and I and we eat a giant salad everyday. I divided a large box of spring mix along with romaine hearts into silicon bags. That way , I just pull out the portioned bag. Would the lettuce keep even better in the glass jars? Thanks for all of your help
Hello, congrats on making the switch to all glass. I do like the silicone bags for the freezer, but I do think it would last longer in glass. I found that when I switched from plastic to glass, even though I was washing things the same way, they lasted longer. If you have extra jars you could give it a try and see. I keep romaine in a flat glass container and it stays fresh for almost a month.
@@TheCrossLegacy Wow! A month! That’s great. I’m not sure I have the space to store a months produce. I have a side by side in the kitchen and a small extra in the garage. We are fighting my husband’s cancer with nutrition so I juice carrots and other veggies. Those carrots take a lot of space-36 lbs every week. Thanks so much for your wonderful videos
@@OnlineTeacherConnie I couldn't imagine storing 100lbs of carrots that is for sure a special circumstance and you are going through the produce. Best of luck with the journey you are on.
General rule for flour is 18 months. I store it in glass. For long term storage I store wheat berries which will last decades and have a wheat grinder. Nuts that we will be eating in the next year I also store in glass. If I want to store nuts 2-3 yrs I put them in the freezer. I don't have a video for that on youtube but I go into detail on how to store and rotate food in our course. www.thecrosslegacy.com/thegrocerysolution
I am trying to pay attention and maybe I missed it. How did you come up with $135 per person? The USDA budget is almost twice that. Obviously you don't need more in your budget. Just curious how you came to settle on that dollar amount. Is it the average amount a person would receive in SNAP benefits? Also, where do you shop because I love, love, love all of your outfits?
We used $100 budget for most of our marriage and in the last couple of years we have raised it to $135 per person to account for inflation and our allergies. The budget was set because that was what we could afford and we have just stuck with it.
I have watched some of your videos on storing in glass. Do you know where I can get the very old fashioned glass containers that have glass tops that just sit on top. they look like the flat containers you have used for storage but yours have a plastic lid. I am trying to find glass without plastic lids. Any idea?
I put them in the crisper or in a bowl on the shelf, just depends what all I have in the fridge at the time. They are in the summer edition of I Bought It, Now What? www.thecrosslegacy.com/book
3 hours not 30, but you can use a clean fan also. Since I only go grocery shopping once every 3 weeks its not a big deal to spend 45 mins prepping produce that wont go to waste.
My pantry is a spare bedroom too. We don’t have a basement, so I do what I can.
The most important thing is that you have one, no matter where it is. :)
May Yasuha Bless you and your family for sharing with us.
Thank you for all you do and sharing your health journey. I'm so grateful to have been introduced to you through Organizing HQ.
Thank you for following ❤
Ma’am you are so organized! Wow.
I really need to be with a small house and limited budget. This isn't for show this is real life.
Good evening from Ontario Canada

Absolutely have been dreaming about it and maybe someday a freeze dryer will be in the budget

Thank you! I am glad you came over and found me
For Christmas we have always done one main gift, but I might pick up a couple of small items when I see them on sale.

Oh this was filmed a while back

@@TheCrossLegacy I love microfiber, especially Norwex
I never even paid attention to the vinegar percentage. And I never washed fruit with it. I always soak the fruit in water. That’s it.

Hi, do you have a video on storing nuts and how long different varieties of flour last? Tia💕

@@TheCrossLegacy nuts for a year in glass, and outside the fridge right?

They are called weck jars and are available www.thecrosslegacy.com/starthere on Amazon
Do you wash the potatoes in vinegar
With mangoes do you put them in a glass jar and put them in the crisper?
I put them in the crisper or in a bowl on the shelf, just depends what all I have in the fridge at the time. They are in the summer edition of I Bought It, Now What? www.thecrosslegacy.com/book
On the organic Hana’s do you remove one below the wrap at top? And keep the top totally intact
Bananas. Not Hana’s
I try to leave the wrap on as long as possible and away from apples.
Hi do you wash the skins of the bannanas first before you peel them?
no
What if you run out of vinegar? Can you use dosh soap and rinse thoroughly?
No
Hi if I want my bananas to ripen quickly I put a apple in with them and they ripen quickly is this ok to do?
Yes if you want them to ripen then store together it will also make the apple get soft quicker
Hi i don't have 30 hours for my produce to dry is there another way to dry it faster?
3 hours not 30, but you can use a clean fan also. Since I only go grocery shopping once every 3 weeks its not a big deal to spend 45 mins prepping produce that wont go to waste.
I love watching you ❤
Hi can I just use mason jars? I have the small ones, the medium ones the large ones
Yup
Courgette is zucchini
How about the 2024 budget?
Yes $135/person per month in 2024.
You are so precious ❤❤
My onions don't last that long start getting soft.
Most likely you have old onions that are from last years harvest.
I wonder if she has that budget still two years later?
Yes $135 per person and only 2 of us now here so it's $270 per month. Same budget same standards of what I buy.
I don't have Instagram. I have Facebook, and that is all I can handle.
I am on Facebook also as The Cross Legacy
