The only downside to 600s in my opinion is they don’t have the same cool tech as 1000s but still have a hefty price tag and insurance rates just as high as 1000s
Had Yamaha produced a R6M or Kawasaki produced a ZX6RR I would agree with you 100%.
To be fair, from what I can tell looking at the stats of bike accidents it kinda makes sense. Deaths are way up, even with all that tech. Here in the EU, Netherlands to be specific deads are also up, but way less then the USA. Tech is a double edged sword. Doesnt teach you grip, and gives you way to much confidence. But can also save you in a pinch. Roads are safer, bikes are safer yet deaths are the highest they have ever been. My guess thats because of tech, and busy streets and social media. Most 600 from 2016 and up come with all the tech. Maybe not launch control but abs etc. 600s, shit even 250s are fast enough for most riders skills.
Insurance wise the price kinda makes sense looking at the stats and how most people buy shit with credit in the USA. I know location and age plays a huge role. 600 or 1000 doesnt really matter if the rider crashes.
The stats and price say bikes go down alot, or get stolen obviously.
To compare; a R6 full coverage is about 60Euro a month. (66dollar) Basic is 12. And thats an avarage taking area, age, location and crash free years into acccount.
We crash less, we pay less. Maybe its because the average new rider has to take 25 to 40 hours of training on a bike with a trainer with 3 exams. The writen, the special moves, and the practical exam. 70% fails the first time. Most of that training has been used in western EU countries for the last 40 years. For cars too. That way driving in general is safer here.
Diffrence between 1000 and 600 is mostly ego/pride. Obviously if you want a 1000 because you just love a model you should just get one. Fuck I love my R1 and R6. But im scared of the R1. My dad was a R1 rider. He was the kinda guy that switched oil, and springs on his front shocks to go faster in specific turns. Rode for 40 plus years. Everyone that knew him said he was a god on the bike. Oil spill on a highway exit took him and my mom out when I was 19.
No tech or skill can save you sometimes...
i agree i do wish more tech was part of the r6 but the rawness also makes it more fun in some areas.
Depends what you mean by tech, if you want the cool features then that’s fair enough.
But if we’re talking safety features, all you really need is ABS, there’s way too many videos online of people relying on traction control in the twisties, heck even relying on abs.
They’re useful and definitely save you in situations but they’re honestly making people “rely” them over just having them as a safety feature. Part of riding is throttle control, brake control etc etc…
Only reason I say abs is acceptable is because even with good techniques in the wrong situation you’ll slip up and jam that front brake.
But yeah traction control and all that, every rider should be comfortable with their rear sliding here and there or at the very least have the throttle control to avoid it.
The new zx6r and cbr600rr, Aprilia rs660, panigale V2 have plenty of tech.
I think I was misunderstood it’s more of the cost. You’re not saving much if any money at all riding a 600.
Buying an old used r6 for 14k is crazy.
I mean I guess but it’s the newest gen I think it’s a 2018 they don’t make them anymore and it’s honestly just preference someone wants that exact bike they’ll pay the money for it
old? lol you have no idea what people pay for r6's in europe lmao. Sold my 2012 R6 last week for 9k usd with 35k miles on it and that was a steal compared to market around here
Old.....my bike is old ....2 years means nothing to a bike
@@upsidedown_r1we’re not in Europe bro….
@@GixxaManethey still make them as track bikes. You just need to find conversion kits to make them road legal
I've rented an R1 for a week. It was an absolute blast and I enjoyed the shit out of it, but after getting pulled over twice in a couple days [verbal warnings] I toned it down and the bike transformed into any other bike I could ride. It was almost miserable having all of that potential under me and not using it. I thought "well damn, I could do the same thing on my bike back home."
I'm grateful for the money I spent on the rental that week because that's all a liter bike will ever be for me, an occasional rental bike, not a bike I'd ever buy.
🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ I can’t believe you stopped. It was a rental and a 999cc ? I’m not stopping. It depends what state you’re in aswell
@@ChapoRR oh yeah, great idea man. Go on vacation and run from the police on an unfamiliar bike that's plated, in a place I don't live, on roads I don't know. You've really got it all figured out. All of that instead of a verbal warning.
@@wenisinvietnam how I’m
Supposed to know you was on vacay.
But true. I’m not speaking for myself, but here in south Florida 600-999cc don’t stop lol.
i often feel the same about my mt10, i got a ticket on it within the first 3 weeks of owning it and realized tapping into the full potential of the bike will be exceedingly rare. i end up taking my ninja 650 alot of the time for that exact reason, its incredibly slow compared to the mt10 but its fun being able to actually use all the power the bike has to offer without risking a reckless driving charge. that being said for longer rides with more highway miles i always hop on the mt10 as the cruise control is such a blessing, but then again i could have gotten a cruiser to do that and been more comfortable for longer......may end up on a cruiser some day
@@ChapoRRsaying “I’m not speaking for myself” after your previous reply said “I’m not stopping” is wild
I've been riding for 16 years and have owned a handful of motorcycles in those years. Started out on a 04 ZX6R 636. Went through a Dirt Bike phase, then on to a Dual Sport phase, on to a Mini Bike phase and back to Sport Bikes. Currently on a CBR1000RR. Out of ALL the motorcycles I've ever owned in 16 years the Honda Grom is the most fun to ride. 600 vs 1000 they are honestly both fun. You can wrap out the gears on a 600 and throw them around a lot easier because of less weight. With the 1000 I honestly rarely even shift out of 6th gear on the highway and they are noticeably heavier than a 600. Riding a liter bike in a smaller town with only 2 lane highways and back roads would get boring pretty fast so I would also say it depends on where you live.
And even though I'm not a fan of Suzuki let's not forget about the 750. Although I've never owned one, my old roommate did and I had access to it all the time as we let each other ride each other's motorcycles. I was able to get some decent seat time on the 750 and IF you don't mind Suzuki the 750 is the most fun to ride out of the 600 and 1000 in my opinion the 750 is the perfect street bike. I wish Honda would release a 750 since Kawasaki already has the 636 and Yamaha already has the R7. That would be awesome 🔥 it'll never happen but we can dream.
I currently have a Suzuki sfv650 in Nashville TN. The power is good for in and around town especially in the twisties which there is a lot of here however it is incredibly slow on the highway. I can barely keep up with V6 cars when they’re on it. I think having a liter bike would be real good on the highway when you need that extra power.
my scooter with 5 kW is sooooo fun to ride. i mean 600 is fun, but man this scooter. such a nice scooter
@@keltecdan liter bike is heavy and you can get it to 90Mph in 1st gear. Heavier bikes require different riding style "fast in, fast out" which is boring on the twisties. Even the 600 pushes that limit, they're all track bikes. 600 is ridiculously fast on highway and you can change sprocket to cut off some high end power and add low end torque.
Dude it’s so crazy recognizing every road you’re on since you’ve moved back to ga I’m gonna have so many new ride spots I never thought of 😂😂
IM SO LOST
I have had a couple liter bikes. Doesn’t make sense to have all that power if you can use it to its full potential on the road. Now I ride a 24 ninja 500. Couldn’t be happier. I can wind this machine out and still have fun.
Hear this all the time big W’s brother
The only reason I'm looking to get a faster bike than my KTM 390 is to get used to the power so I won't shit myself later on when I get a 600 as a track bike. Once I've got that I'm probably going back to a slower street bike. I find talking about buying a faster bike with friends and coworkers funny because almost all of them instantly go "oh you need to get over 100hp because everything under that is boring and sluggish" meanwhile I'm still enjoying my massive 43hp on a daily basis and genuinely don't look forward to getting a 100+hp street bike
I started on a 2024 ZX10R for my first bike. I have been riding for about 90 days at this point. I would not trade it for any other bike. That's a sick R6 bro!!!! Great video!!!!
Dude please be careful 😮
YEAH holy moly dude. be geared up. please respect that power i had a hard enough time on my cbr600

haha thanks man much love
600 is where it's at , I'll pay for less weight or better handling, but no need for more power
Plus gas I think
I’m
The only one that hates stoping at gas stations
I've got a Triumph Daytona 675. I've got the curb weight down to 399 lb. It would be really hard to get a liter bike that light at a normal price.
@@mrstatictuneshow much my aprilia weighs as well
I got a gsxr750 because the value, the maintenance was the same as the 600 but with 30 more horsepower. And i can switch it into b mode and feels like a 600
I definitely can agree with you. I have an R6 and just in love with it. I ride with a bunch of liter bikes also and in SoCal the sport bike scene is huge riding liter bikes if ur not stunting.
I enjoy how nimble and light the bike is. Either way I think as sport bike riders we all gotta support each other tbh we cut from the same cloth.
Yep yep
youre leaking issue in the garage typically is from a sweating water line or potentially your HVAC copper lines could be sweating and dripping down onto things below. look for exposed copper lime in the ceiling area. they should be wrapped in a black foam. if you see copper, add insultation to it to stop the dripping.
quite frankly older bikes are for me. no technology, no quickshifter, no abs, no nothing. Full raw is where I like my bikes but unfortunately as time goes on these bikes are getting really really old. Got an 07 r6 right now. I do all my mechanical work myself and it in pristine mechanical condition. My more recent valve adjustment really brought this bike back alive. Ill prolly keep this bike until it blows. I put a shit ton of miles on my bike anyways, atleast 15k a year, 20k for good seasons, thank god for CA and all year riding. So I will get getting up there in mileage pretty quickly lol
Right there with you. I genuinely do not have a single interest in electronics. I learned on a 2015 R3 with nothing. Fancied my dad's 1999 Katana while he had it...
Just now got a 2006 R1 and it's a blast. There's just something about early 2000s sport bikes.
I only wish I lived down south where I could ride all year long. Unfortunately riding season will be over by the end of this month.
But hey, worth every second. Godspeed
@@Soliye. haha must be because we both started on same bike. I also started on 15 r3 and even that bike was a blast simply because it had nothing. Absolutely fun playing with the gears in the twisties. I still get that fun aspect with my r6 only more disposable power. These types of bikes are a blast to ride. Im sure when I do get a bike with technology in the future I will still enjoy it but I just know a part of me will miss the raw aspect. So i am in no rush to depart from the raw bikes that are still around that we can fix up for cheap
if price is a concern i'd recommend looking at the nakeds. i just picked up a 2022 mt10 with 5700 miles on it totally modded out dyno tuned re mapped flashed ecu and a bunch of aesthetic and comfort mods like tank grips, radiator guards, tail tidy, brake and clutch levers, chain adjusters, a touring windscreen, frame sliders and brand new battle axe tires for $11.5k and it came with front and rear pitbull stands, 6 quarts of yamalube and a filter. different gearing with more access to the power at lower rpm's the thing is an absolute blast. i still lean towards my ninja 650 alot of the time though as it keeps me out of trouble and its more fun on the back roads of which i have many close to home. the mt10 comes with the same electronics package the r1 has at much lower cost and its cheaper to insure. the cruise control and quick shifter are a blessing as well. i think the nakeds are slept on alot of the time because fully faired bikes are much better looking but after being on a few different 600's and 1000's i really prefer the gearing, seating position and ease of maintenance of the mt10. after owning it i dont believe i'll be purchasing another fully faired bike. just my two cents 🤙
Naked bikes are absolutely great value, if I had extra cash laying around it would prob be the route I go
I was deciding between a 600cc or a used liter bike and i found a great deal on a premium 2015 s1krr. So I went for it. $11,700 OTD with 5,600 miles. That bike is perfect for the price. Comes with heated grips, cruise control, quick shifter, auto-blip down, electronic suspension. Deals are out there if you are patient, the newer S1krr aren't worth it, from what I have heard
Jeez you guys are so lucky. In the Netherlands a used 2016 R6 with 20k miles is 15k...
@@indospartanhere too man.

Just got a 2006 R1 for 5.8 (cad) tho and I ain't complaining. Age doesn't show one bit.
@@Soliye. facts. I got a 09 R6 for 6,5k not to long ago. Looks and rides like new, so I totally get you. Enjoy the bike and be safe!
I completely agree, Previously owned a 22 MT09 SP (sadly got wrecked because a driver not paying attention hit me) but upgraded to an MT10 SP not even a month ago and I regret it, I should have patiently waited for the 24 MT09 SP because for me that bike was perfect, it was the ultimate balance of a MT07 and an MT10
MT09’s are actually SOOOO GOOD. I feel for you brother
As a heavier guy I’m getting a 1k. Pretty much the only reason
SUP SUP brother. Love your content and i have to agree with you on the sound of a 600. Very different sound from liter bikes. Im also 6”5 and my weight makes it so much more fun and easy to handle. I dont race because it wont make sense to because im heavier but my bike is plenty fast and very fun and comfortable for my height. Trust me. If i ever get a liter bike it has to be a RRR-R🔥 Blade. Good to see you out brother ride safe
i love the zx6R(13-18 mostly) because of its looks, power and many other features but also how Kawi never gave up on the 600cc market especially with the liter bikes now being more expensive than in the past. i wish they’d make a 750 like suzuki for that “perfect” bike appeal and i mean this in:
the price would be closer to the 600cc market as well as the weight but still has enough power to compete with the liter bikes without fully committing to one. i just wanted to put my input from what i’ve seen an experienced as a new rider but as a car guy who’s loved bikes since middle school and i seen my dad’s ninja 2010 zx6r and he let me rev it
man that paint job is clean af
Ride an MT09. Way better than an R6 for daily street riding. I sold my 2019 R6 for a 2024 MT-09 SP and realised most of what I loved about the R6 was pointless. The looks, the sound, the clout. MT-09 is far superior for street riding, more comfortable, way more fun, feels an order of magnitude faster too due to the 50% increase in torque over the R6.
These new gen R6s are the only 600s worth keeping. Holds value, sounds insane and just handles so well.
Even last gen R6s. Legendary bikes. Same engine, more power, and no abs etc.
@@indospartan yes definitely!!! I meant all generations of R6
The zx6r is an amazing bike. Plus new one has all the tech.

I totaled my 18 r6 a couple years ago. Now I have a 16 s1k. I love the bike and cruise control. But that r6 will find its way to my garage again. I’ll pay 14k I don’t care. The 1k power is great but it’s too much for the street honestly and the r6 is just a special bike. It’s light and sounds amazing. The line up will be s1k, r6, v4s.
Chin mounts are trash mine fell off 1st ride.. ride tech stuck for over a year now no issues there from Canada or something but comes fast and worth it
never say never. i wouldnt get rid of the r6 either but youll end up with a bigger bike
Yeah like I said I most likely will get a liter but not to keep and will most likely be with my r6
Tell Isle of Man riders that a liter bike is not good on back roads lol😅
It's a skill thing...Smaller bikes are simply easier to handle for the average rider.
That R6 is definitely fire though!🔥
I think liter bikes are more then enough to fully rip on a back road but little more annoying with daily traffic

I’ve been riding 600cc for 15 years I haven’t owned a 1000 I have no need for it it. I still have my gsxr 2008 600 got it new still got it but I will be getting an 1000 gsxr I just love the styling and the upgrades if they made the 600 like that I would get that instead but unfortunately they don’t.
i picked up a 08 as well 3 months ago worth every penny shes got a lot of miles but she still runs healthy
Absolutely love my gsx s1000 but to each their own lol

I’m planning a switch off my FZ8 to a MT10, but ultimately want to decide between a MT07 for maneuverability or that 10 for 2up n further distances
I hear ya man. I just bought a 24 GSX R1000R and to be honest, unless you’re racing on a track (I don’t get crazy on the streets), there’s no need for all that power. 600 is just fine. By the way, what cell phone mount are you running? You like it?
R6 sounds amazing. Started watching tucks videos because of the r6 sounds, then found your channel. But then he got rid of it and got the Aprilia, and it doesn't sound good all at least for me . Keep r6 4 eva.
I have a SFV4s in grey/nero. Best bike I’ve ever owned. So much power for overtakes etc. no need to ring its neck to get the power.
Don’t regret buying at all.
After driving a litre bike everything under will feel very underpowered. Not a brag, just a fact.
Anything over 500cc is ‘too much’ for the road if you think logically. A bike only goes as fast as you make it go. No self control?? Don’t get any bike.
Put a 180 on ya later big and it will be just as nimble as 600s

But can you have fun in the city? That 1st gear is so long... Those rockets are good to brag that one have the biggest cc bike on the block and specific highway stretches, to have fun on the curves, accelerating a bit on the street on most places 600 take the win, to most it's an ego choice in my opinion

Agree, the debate about liter bikes v 600 is nonsense. I have been riding since 2021, my first bike was a KTM 1050 adventure & a BMW R NINET Pure, both restricted for the A2 license for 2 years. Sold the KTM and then bought a M1000R in 2023 as my licence was unrestricted A license. Then in 2024 bought the Ducati Diavel V4. I live in the mountains and all three bikes are great on the twisty roads. Ordering the Streetfighter & M1000RR for 2025 and probably the new GSA 1300 as an off-road thing. Why do I have these? Well, why not? They are great, and EU regulations will kill the fun in the next round or two of regs. Torque, speed, noise, and emissions are all going to be restricted (the latter two already are). US will not be too far behind.

Anyone who says 600 is better than a liter bike is coping. There ARE valid reasons to buy a 600 over 1000, but there is no comparison to the feeling you get riding the liter bike.
Interesting take
There's no valid reason to own a litre bike unless you're going to the track every weekend. You can't use the bike's full potential on public roads. And if you are, you're just putting yourself and everyone around you at risk.
@@derek96720 Is it necessary? No. But that argument is silly. Nobodys using a 600 to its full potential either. Ive owned both and while the 600 is more practical for the street, I promise the 1000 is far superior.
Bikes only go as fast as you make them go!
yoooo first
A 1000cc that has a is built with weight reduction and bst wheels is better than a 600cc any day! Ya just can’t handle the power! I ride both stock 636 and a built Zx10r same years! 636 is funnier to rode around sitting putting around like you are in this video, but ya can’t compare that to pushing a built Zx10r knee dragging the canyons and valleys! Ya not pushing that 600cc either!
