If there weren't people like Peter Santenello who do a better job at documenting the world than I ever could, I'd probably travel more, but watching these videos from the comfort of my own home is just nicer than the stress of traveling.
Great videos of people who travel in the "off-season" for real deals. You can get major deals if you are willing to put up with some possible rain or not-so-warm weather. Fewer people/tourist season = less stress to me.
Spent many years in Switzerland in the mountains and met the love of my life there. It's a beautiful country and the locals are really friendly, I would have stayed, but Visa doesn't work that long until now. That mountain air is medicine

This is like a Walt Disney Version of Switzerland which does not exist. As a swiss citizen i can tell you, it has become really hard to make ends meet. Living costs and rents have skyrocketed. Population grows way to quickly due to immigration from the European Union, which leads to much more competition on the job market and generally speaking lower wages. There is a constant shortage of living space in nearly all areas. You want to buy a small flat? Better get at least CHF 750'000 ready. A house is more tan 1.5 Mio in most areas. I would love to migrate to another country to be honest. Its safe and nice to live here for sure. But this comes at a price. You need a very good job and have to work full time to finance that. You can retire at 65 but there is pressure to increase this limit. Almost 40% of the Swiss Population have been born abroad and many of them dont have Citizenship. This leads to a growing amount of conflicts. I am not xenophobic, I love to get in touch with other cultures too. But we are in danger of losing our identity if the population growth is not slowed down.

They are disconnected, and we can't see criminal history from other countries, etc. It is 2024, and we need a faster vetting system so we can slow or stop the instant release of asylum. This will catch the criminals and deport immediately while getting people with good intentions to start working. The USA has this issue, and our government can't work together.

a bit expensive though . I am in a rich EU country, but Swiss prices really put a dent in my wallet. For Americans on a budget, I would recommend Slovakia! It's an unknown country in Eastern Europe, but it is great. It has mountains that look like the lower Alpes, so it looks a bit like parts of Switzerland or Austria. Very pretty. It's very safe and pretty cheap. And cities like Bratislava are far more modern than most people think . I had a great time there

I very nearly took an internet engineer position in Switzerland. Not being able to see my daughters is the only reason I didn't take the job. I heard that as a Native guy, I would be well treated by the Swiss. I'd love to visit with my wife some day. I’ve known a lot of expats in Switzerland and I’ve spent months there. It’s a great place but not particularly welcoming to expats for the most part, at least around Zurich. Everyone I know who lived there socialized within their expat groups and puzzled about that Swiss mentality. Almost everyone moved back to their homes even with permanent visas. It’s kind of lonely. This is maybe 50 or so people I’ve worked with. They were tired of getting tickets for speeding 1kmh over the limit or the police coming because someone flushed the toilet after 10pm (ie causing noise). Maybe south Swiss is better but Zurich can get very tiring. A friend of mine invited everyone in the building for cocktails and zero people showed up, he had to move, it was so alienating.
@@preluded yes, this is also if you‘re Swiss and moving into another area. Unfortunately. To me, I always love to have contact with expats and try to help them integrate. For me, as I moved 200km away from my birthplace, it helped to join some sports clubs and my dogs helped immensely. I met good people, who became friends, also at work.
Lets make one thing very clear. Very few migrants go to Switzerland because of the very cold climate in winter. Imagine 1 million people moving into Switzerland. There housing and healthcare systems would be overwhelmed like the United States.

Notiice the clean streets? Evident how the people have pride in their environment. I witnessed this in Lugano when I saw a civil servent vacuuming the walkway around the lake.
Unfortunately it’s getting worse with people throwing out their stuff and making a mess. We just have very busy and great cleaning guys, who work their butts off, to keep everything clean!
Watch how rapidly that will change with their open borders. The cultures that are flooding in European countries don't care about those countries culture
@@angela_tarantulas There are.a ton of people who do videos of traveling throughout Switzerland, and I never see litter on the roadsides. Are those guys who go out and clean the areas in a paid position to do that, or is it a voluntary thing they do? Thank you!! 🥰~~🌸

We just passed through Zurich 2 weeks ago, for us South Africans, Switzerland is extremely expensive, even down to basics like McDonalds or Burger King.
