Wisconsin fan here! Thanks for breaking this news to me! I didn’t know Fickell did this. The offense didn’t seem like it was a great fit for this team and would take several more seasons to get the right personnel to run the spread Longo wanted. I think it’s back to a pro style power set for the Badgers.
No problem! Yeah, it for sure wasn’t working and I still have question about backup QBs and stuff like that but ultimately, gotta run with the results and the results just weren’t good enough. Hope they hire a very good OC!
Locke has been generationally bad. His disaster on Saturday should have been the final straw to at least try the freshman. If this is just a case of the old guard being the scenes saying to run the ball more then we’re in deep trouble.
Agree! We are going to do a video tonight about future options and how the team will finish out the year tonight. We will post it as soon as we get it done.
Well you know, Nebraska got rid of their OC brought in an air raid guy imagine that. Wisconsin's coming up so they got to keep up and swap out there OC as well. Should be fun. Who's going bowling? GBR
Bold move or big mistake??? Longo was bad in every sense of the word and only slightly more bad has been Locke. Get rid of Locke next and they may have a chance to beat the Gophers.
The Big Mistake move that Wisconsin made, was to fire Paul Chryst. Look where Wisconsin was, and where they are now. Barry Alvarez cannot be to happy with the moves they have made. Going from playing power smash mouth football to the Air Raid, was not the right move.
@@badgerbill336 Look at Chryst's record... It spoke for itself!!!! He had an undefeated season in there with the most Big ten West titles than any other school in the West. Lots of All Americans and had a winning record vs Iowa. I am a Hawkeye fan here, and we couldn't thank you enough for Wisconsin doing what they did. Chryst never lost like Wisky did this year vs Iowa.
@@scottstratton9426 the last few years of Chryst were awful. He became extremely conservative offensively, and went about a full year without a recruiting department. He should have never been a head coach. Like Phil Parker in the D at Iowa, Chryst should have been a career OC. He was the perfect example of the Dilbert Principle- he was promoted to his level of incompetence
@@williamwojcieszek4320 Chryst compiled a 67-26 record as head coach from 2005-2022 and wrapped up his time in Madison with a 86-45 overall head coaching record.
@ and his last 3 seasons he went 13-11 in the Big 10 West including getting boatraced at home by Illinois. Wisconsin needed to move on from Chryst. He’s not suitable to be a head coach, especially not in this day and age of NIL and the transfer portal. He’s an X’s and O’s guy - he should have stopped as an OC.

The main goal at this point is to keep the bowl streak alive. I'm guessing that comes to an end next year with the brutal schedule.

Something tells me Longo didn’t want to change QBs and that brought this to a breaking point for Fickell
I just want them to run a Shanahan style offense, I think it'd work with our identity and personnel.
If Joe moorhead fired at Akron at end of year get him! He's a great OC!

@@brettk9316 Nooooo. Joe Morehead is a coach who has one foot in a program and one foot looking for other jobs. He is not a loyal guy.
Interesting

I think it came down to that Fickle wanted him to start Mabrey and Longo refused. So he got fired.
