What a great video of beautiful Puebla! It’s one of the best cities in Mexico. I highly recommend visiting the town of Chipilo near Cholula (30 minutes from the city of Puebla), it’s a city founded by Italian immigrants that has retained the culture and language. They are known for their dairy products but also their pastas, pizzas, gelato, wine, polenta and Aperol Spritz (great for the summer months)! It’s a foodie paradise, a piece of Italy in Puebla! Weekends are the best since the restaurants are full of life! Sundays are my favourite days to go because they play bocce ball and they “scream” at each other in Veneto (dialect from northern Italy). Other great places to visit are Atlixco which is beautiful and has amazing climate and the cecina from the market is to die for. The Chautla hacienda is beautiful too. And nearby Val’Quirico (a medieval looking town) also great for weekends, especially Saturdays and the capital city of Tlaxcala which is so gorgeous and so close to Puebla ($15 pesos was the bus ticket if I’m not mistaken?). So much to do nearby the city of Puebla!
Hi! Wow thank you so much for all of these thoughtful recommendations! We appreciate you. I wish we could make a little documentary in Chipilo by taking to the locals about their heritage but our Spanish is just not up to it. It’s very interesting that they have held on to their culture and continue to speak in the same dialect. Very nice. We are actually heading north to Zacatlan de Manzanas and hopefully Cuetzalan as well! Thanks again.
@@TheCountryCollectors that would be incredible. The locals are very nice and many will speak English, especially the younger ones. They will help you out discover more about their history and the language is even on the public signage and on the central piazza where the municipality and town theatre are located, next to the Italian church. Behind it is the Monte Grappa which is a little hill where they fought off rebels during the revolution. They have maintained a lot of their culture, and stick out since Puebla is mainly indigenous but adds to the diversity. There’s many other Italian “towns” which were formed as agricultural colonies all over Mexico and they keep in touch (in Veracruz there are two main ones for example in the towns of Gutierrez Zamora near Papantla which has been around since the 1850’s before Italy was even a country, and the one in Huatusco/Zentla called Colonia Manuel González which has bocce tournaments with Chipilo haha and Huatusco has many Italian restaurants and monuments too…the whole central/mountainous part of Veracruz has Italian roots because of this migration…my family is part of this but they went to work in the mines of Michoacán haha so different history! You find little towns like this all over Mexico, French towns, German towns, Japanese towns, etc…but Chipilo has been my favourite since they’ve retained a lot of their culture but also influenced much of the culinary culture in Puebla…probably the Italian restaurant you guys ate at was from a chipileño owner? The Italian Coffee Company (Mexican Starbucks) was started in Chipilo and you can still visit the old cafe in the central part of town…the whole central corridor is a culinary corridor! Highly recommended. It’s small, smells like cows (sign of good food) and the people are so nice and you can hear them speaking in their language from northern Italy which is so cool! If you guys are still in Puebla after Zacatlán, I do highly recommend it! The cheese is to die for here but the pizzas at Al Canton dell’Italian and the food at La Fontana…honestly…it’s a great place to just have breakfast, lunch and dinner and as many gelato breaks as possible haha
Gosh it’s all absolutely fascinating! Thank you so much again for this info! Yes if we come back down this way we will for sure check it out. Thank you!!

Good morning. I hope you guys are doing well. I haven't been able to keep up on all of your videos but my eyes have really opened up to the beauty in Mexico. We are going to Huatulco for six week this winter and are really looking forward to it. I am wondering what your favorite beverages have been that the locals drink? I like beer occasionally but I like to try stuff that regular folks enjoy. Any suggestions?
Hi! Oh wow that is great! Here beer is king. It is what most locals drink. Mezcal in Oaxaca and tequila too. They drink a lot of Ricos raspados which are shaved ice beverages and in Oaxaca we would drink tejate, a prehispanic drink made from corn.
@@TheCountryCollectors Cool. Thanks so much for the reply. I will be watching more of your installments the closer we get to our vacation. This is Paul.... and Gloria in Oaxaca. This was a great video with lots of information, recommendations & prices. We'll be coming up for a week in October for my University reunion in Cholula, but after this video I think we'll stay in Puebla this year. Many of the alumni from the University live in Puebla, Cholula, & Atlixco. We will duplicate your tour so it should be easy. We will do what you did. You'll make it more compact, so we can see more. Afew of the things you recommended we've already done, but it was quite a few years ago.
Hi Paul and Gloria! Thank you so much! Oh that’s great. We’ve enjoyed both places a lot. What a beautiful area here in Puebla. Did you ever make it north to Zacatlan de Manzanas or Cuetzalan?
Answering your question, I never made it to those magic towns. I was in Puebla/Cholula 50+ years ago and I washed a student. I had just gotten back from Vietnam in 1969 and my life was very different then. Of course, Mexico was very different then too. Someday we may make it, but for now we're huddled at home in Oaxaca.

Thank you!!
We really can't wait to visit Puebla
Hope you have a wonderful time!
Good morning!!! A beautiful day in Puebla!! I didn’t know there was snow in Mexico. Lalalala bamba???? Lol yummy food. What a sandwich!! Adam your jokes???? !! Nice earrings Heidi!! You’ve met such nice people along the way!! You guys work so hard!! Another great day !! Thank you 😍
I think there’s a place you can go skiing here too!! Mexico is always surprising us!
Why the constant of many people is to believe that in Mexico there is no such thing?
yes, it snows in México specially in the half north forests in mountains in winter

With only 2 days in Puebla you didn't get to experience the fantastic weather. Best climate in the world.
Oh we spent over 3 weeks total in the state - probably 10 days in the city I just meant the video was shot over 2 days!
I enjoy the humor, please never stop!! Bless you guys!! Part of my Sunday morning !!
Haha 😂 we won’t!! We want to make you smile!
I will check out as many of the local beverages as my liver will allow.....
Keep up the awesome videos and thanks again. Be safe and have a great time down there!
Beautiful city! Those tunnels are incredible! Really cool that you tried so many local traditional foods/drink. I'm so down with zocalos... Awesome just by themselves but that you may run into some dance troupe or some crazy artist or musicians there practicing or performing is so cool. Zocalo is an awesome word, too! Just sounds cool. Zocalo. Ey yo! Zocalo!
Haha now that little tune is going to be stuck in my head now! Every time we go to a new one that’s what I’m going to sing! I love it!
Zocalo means socket; a construction socket or a base to build on to on.
I am not a huge candy eater but the lime and coconut candy looked interesting. I would as Adam says, Jump into that!
lol yes they are definitely worth a try, that one was the best we had!
I don't just watch for the travel tips, the banter between you too is hilarious :D Thank you!
Haha glad you enjoy it!!
@6:05 MY eyes nearly popped out of my head looking at that sandwich!
Crazy huge!!
So cool, what a beautiful city!!
Luved the tunnels and the history lesson inside…… great eats and wicked treats!!!!!!

Love the history you shared - thanks for always doing extensive research! Beautiful place & food worth 🤤 over. Happy Sunday Funday!
Happy Sunday Funday Kelly!! Oh man the food is too good here! Thanks 🙏 for always being here with us!
Hi Country Collectors, I'm from Puebla City, from Analco Barrio, You should've been there, I grew up in the early '60s, right in front of the church built in the XVI century! We love you, thanks for being in México 🇲🇽🇺🇸 de❤️😉
