One theme that I've noticed is what i call the 'Jenny Hill theme'. It appears 3 times that I've noticed, 1st when they do the foxtrot in ashtons favourite son, she sings "he's the man i treasure... He'll be with me, until we're dead! Jenny hill no more will be my name..." Etc. This reappears in the transituon music when will is going to ashton and talking to jenny hill. Third time it appears is in Start Over, where they sing "edwards not a saviour, edwards not a saint. How can he be good for us, hes not the thing he says he ain't. We can change our fate you bet we can. We dont need this interloping man." That rhythm is the same in each of those parts

My high school is doing this musical in March. I’m playing keyboard 1 in the pit and I’m trying to make sure it is perfect. Thank you for making this video! It helped so much!

Conductor for our production of BF. This might be more of an arrangement question. Why no trombone? Just curious. Also is the Keyboard II book a necessity if you don't have a full pit orchestra? A lot of it appears to double the other players. Thanks for the video. Wonderful music.

Having a trombone in the orchestration for this show would've been very cumbersome. I've spoken with the orchestrator (Larry Hochman) about similar matters, and being a trombonist (and aspiring arranger) myself, I can see the trombone being too cumbersome for most of this music. When that sound is desired, the horn is used to pretty strong effect though! Hope this helped a little (:

Maybe I shouldn't have used "cumbersome" as the descriptor twice
