@@IrvineTheHunterI mean the elevator key is explicitly told to you if you go to Logan. Just because most people have the master key doesn't mean it's the only way to open his cage. It is weird that the master key works on his cage but not the elevators given it's the same lock. The key is also in a very easily accessible area, all you have to do is go down a staircase. @@libralonix it's really useful if you don't immediately go through Anor Londo. The elevator takes you directly to the first axe pathway in the fortress. It's really nice when you go back to do some things before facing O and S.
Cool vid. Don't forget, though, in order to get Ingie to give you his pyromancy, there are a few more steps. First, after you join the Chaos covenant, you have to first get the parasite egg on your head and let him give you the antidote. Then, make sure your intelligence is AT LEAST 11. He won't offer his pyromancy if you are not at 11 intelligence. Then, keep talking to him, and he will ask you if you have an interest in pyromancy. Answer yes, and there ya go!
So every "secret" area except, 4 & 7 has clues, i.e. you can see into the Anorlondo secret room, via the window pointing at the hallway; also tip on mimics, you can tell which chest is which because one has a chain reaching out to you ready to wrap you up in it's loving embrace.* PS: Also mimics are weak to Lloyd's talismans, using one will put them to sleep. PSS: The Vamos bonfire only exists in the remake, but honestly using the previous bonfire and cutting through Vamos is almost as easy, and well worth the effort for the time saved backtracking.
So for me, I only started the series at the start of last year when all the servers were down, so i had to find most of this stuff without any of the clues! I didn't find either of the catacomb bonfires on my first 2 playthroughs, so for me that area sucked! I still put it off for as long as I have to on new playthroughs!
@@user-us3ic8sx6x Yeh the mimics breathing was one i knew about before, although some of them can still be sneaky and take way too long to breath, been burnt by that one! I'm actually doing my first ever enemy and boss randomiser on Twitch this week, so i will keep an eye out for the Chanellers aura of power! Thanks for the tip!
The chain on the chest also points the opposite directon from a normal chest if it's a mimic. That's how I could tell them apart, until I memorized their locations.
I sont know if you'll see this bro but slaying the giant princess in her chamber turns Anor Londo "dark" amd opens a whole secret story kind of. That story also includes the Gwendolyn fight at the end
I think ash lake is one of the best hidden areas for many reasons. 1 it’s in blighttown and many new players aren’t going to want to explore it cuz. Well. It’s blighttown. And 2 it’s behind 2 hidden walls and a long fucked up path down a tree with fucking crazy frogs! But when you get there it’s ahhhhhh. I wish they did more with the area.
I completely missed it on my first playthrough, and then when i found it on the 2nd run, i was kinda glad i missed it first time round. I do agree, i wish they had done more with it. After getting through the Great Hollow, Ash Lake feels like a bit of a let down
LOL What? Man I know of all of these! Maybe someone new to the game would be surprised by these? I have personally found that parrying Black Knights found early in game increase the chances of their weapons dropping. Particularly the one found in the Undead Burg and the two found at The Undead Asylum. Also it's prudent to never take the direct path from Firelink to The Undead Burg. Use the Master Key go below, go through the Dark Root Garden to Andre. Activate the bonfire in The Undead Parish. Activate the elevator in the Undead Church. The Hellkite Drake is an enemy that is purposely OP and meant to be nigh unbeatable so don't obstruct your path to the Sunlight Covenant by crossing the bridge that triggers his appearance in The Undead Burg. Also don't sleep on the halberd found just outside the Undead Church. It's actually one of the strongest weapons in the game. Second only to the Great Axe which can be found in The Depths or purchased from the crest fallen armored merchant in Sen's Fortress. Granted you need a good investment in strength to use it but in terms of heavy weapons it will never let you down if upgraded and wielded properly. I promise. Also the strongest bow is the little Turk style bow found in New Londo Ruins. It's stats actually surpass the Dragon Slayer Bow found in Anor Londo when fully upgraded. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I'm sorry this video didn't have any new secrets for yourself, as every player (old and new) is different our levels of knowledge of the game vary, even after thousands of hours of playtime we can still miss things. Regarding the black knights, while I understand that in your experience parrying the earlier black knights increases their drop rate, this is not the case and is purely coincidental. All of the black knights have a 20% drop rate, no matter how you attack them, and no matter what section of the game they are in. On this on, you just got very lucky! Your suggestions on routing are logical to a degree, but I would never recommend this to a new player as it essentially spoils the natural progression and lessons the game tries to teach you. I disagree on the Hellkite Wyvern, while yes it is supposed to be an imposing enemy early on, there are multiple ways to handle this enemy and obtain the highest physical damage output weapon of the early game that is a garaunteed drop, yes I'm talking the Drake Sword, it is fantastic for early game and will decimate anything in its path!
@@libralonix i hate that section of the game thee most since ive been doing chaos zweihander everytime extremely early in the game like pre sens fortress lamao

To this day I still hate catacombs in all the games!
In ash lake there usually is messages if you are online so there is that. I found also almost all of them. Only thing i googled was how to get to DLC since it is kinda weird you have to go that spot like 2-3 times to portal to appear
13 was the only one I probably didnt know, it impressed me lol cant even remember when was the last time I saw a chest in this game and was excited about what it has
It was really fun to watch this and realize I'd found almost all of them in my own playthrough! (Except that one wall in Sen's Fortress that needs to be hit rather than rolled through...)
You missed one on the Crystal pathway to Seath the Scaleless: at the opening of the end of the Crystal tunnel with two Crystal Lizards, there is a long invisible upward twisting Crystal pathway to a Blue Titanite Slab that requires many many Prism Stones to make visible - or not - if you think you can follow the spare falling snowflakes marking the passage to the Slab. Of course, it's really not secret, but the Shiny is easy to miss if you're not paying close attention, as it is very far away. There is also an obscured witch summons hidden by bushes at the bottom of the steps of the tower leading to the Moonlight Butterfly in Darkroot Garden. If summoned, her gear is later available at the end of a short pathway when exiting left from the Firelink Shrine Tower into the Valley of the Drakes/entrance into Blighttown.
Thanks for watching, I've covered these two extra secrets in some of my more recent videos, but always appreciate people suggesting new secrets! Keep em coming 😎
I knew all of these, but I play *a lot* of dark souls. I noticed that you say "Illusionary" instead of "Illusory" and I'm glad I wasnt the only one that did this for ages!!!

I am envious that you played these games without googling everything beforehand, or watching speed runners etc. I spoiled most of the "secrets" in this game, the only area I found without knowing it existed, was the poison bit in Lost Isalith where you can meet Seigemeyer.
I'm in a very fortunate position where I get to spend 8 hours a day playing video games, so being able to attempt these "blind" is a luxury most gamers just don't have the time for. Personally, I am so glad i managed to do them this way though, the feeling of accomplishment for literally doing anything was amazing, and the only game i had played even remotely similar before hand was Jedi Fallen Order, so you can imagine how unprepared i was!
That catacomb bonfire makes a big difference too (at least it did for me), the catacombs was a pain in the backside on my first playthrough without it!

@Conpauleonina I can completely appreciate that, my first playthrough of the souls games was when the servers were down, so I'm not a huge fan of the Invasion mechanic. Maybe give it a go offline? O&S are also a huge roadblock for all first players, but with a bit of practice you will let through them, one small tip is focus on one of them at a time, and I found pyromancy very handy against orstein in my SL1 run, absolutely melted him!
I completely missed it on my first playthrough, with the poison swamp limiting how much I explored I didn't even venture to the outskirts of blightown. I will say it was abit of a let down when I did eventually explore it on my 2nd run, the area (especially Ash lake) just felt so empty
One of these areas I didn't know is the second bonfire in the catacombs. I was really surprised because I have all the trophies in the game and I didn't see this hidden bonfire.
I found them all and interestingly also remember them all, even though it is years since I played Dark Souls. Finding Ash Lake, was one of my favorite atmospheric gaming moments. There are also more secrets on the way there.
You would be surprised how many people do miss a lot of these (and many other things). You always need to remember that not everyone plays the game/has the same experience as you, so just because you may have easily found all these, others may not have found them so obvious. Regarding the last secret, it is arguable that this is NOT the main bonfire for the area, and the reason for that is that this bonfire didn't exist in the original version of Dark Souls, and was only added into the remastered version, so for many veteran players, this bonfire is more of a nice add on. As far as it being a secret, many many many players would have attempted to drop down this hole in order to plunder its depths to be only greeted by death, never to return again!
Wow im so glad to say i knew about all of these. Granted i did NOT find them all on my own. Just reading through forums and people mentionin it. Cool list. I love this game and my favorite level is the abyss. What an interesting place lore wise and all these areas are filled with great lore and visual storytelling. If your new to the game still, hit all these areas because they feel so incredibly special. Especially Ash Lake when the music kicks in. Its that moment you say to yourself ,"Ooooh wow! This is SEVERELY important!". Then you get to the baby dragon... 😎👍
That's epic I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! I won't lie I was a little dissapointed in ash lake, I missed it onmg first run all those years ago, but when I replayed the game I found out I'd missed a section, I went back to it, and with the great hollow and Ash Lake just felt a tad pointless and empty. I wil conceded the Aah Lake reveal is beautiful though!
@@libralonix I discovered it grinding for the plat trophyand I agree. It could use more enemies, some more features, and of course a wickedly awesome boss instead of an easy to beat hydra. I'm not sure if it was rushed or if it's one of those Miyazaki quirks. I heard sometimes it's a matter of the visual storytelling over action with him and this is supposed to be a MAJOR lore area that wraps up Havel's plot against Seath, the attempted ending of the gods, and Seath's seizure of the area. Miyazaki might have also put a lack of enemies there (put there by Seath himself 😉), to possibly show that the area might have been important to Seath, but this also led the pale dragon into a dead end so he let it decay into what it is when you discover it. I'll have to look into it myself on that, but I agree with your feeling. I also think it would have been worth it to more people if they had a crazy boss down there as that is some epic music to hype ash lake up for so little. Anyways keep playing out there sunbro and thanks for the great vid again. I am on DSIII right now and am still finding new stuff 6 years later lol!

Good point, it may be worth doing a small how to on this alone!
12 years and almost 1000 hours between many versions... this is the first time I see #11
Id got a good 300 hours in before i discovered #11 myself!
I didn't find this until NG plus.
So every "secret" area except, 4 & 7 has clues, i.e. you can see into the Anorlondo secret room, via the window pointing at the hallway; also tip on mimics, you can tell which chest is which because one has a chain reaching out to you ready to wrap you up in it's loving embrace.*
PS: Also mimics are weak to Lloyd's talismans, using one will put them to sleep.
@irvineTheHunter Thanks for the tip on the Lloyds Talisman, I've added this one to my most recent video!
@@damionmanuel7337i didn't know that, I would usually stare at them to see if they are breathing

To be fair, it is hidden pretty well! But on the plus side, ,now you have a new boss to fight! 😎
I sont know if you'll see this bro but slaying the giant princess in her chamber turns Anor Londo "dark" amd opens a whole secret story kind of. That story also includes the Gwendolyn fight at the end

I knew of all of these except 11 and 13. Crazy, I thought I knew everything about this game. Truly the gift that keeps on giving.
After getting through the Great Hollow, Ash Lake feels like a bit of a let down
This brings me a lot of nostalgia, great video man

I feel you on that one, I completely missed both this and the Vamos bonfire on my first run, making the catacombs a horrible task!
theres also a way to get out of your cell, if you wait long enough a guy will throw down a corpse and youll be able to get out...
Ooooo nice tip, i'll make sure to add it to the next video! 😎👌
Sad part for me someone helped me find sif was a heart warming moment saveing that puppy from the abyss
Sifs whole lore is just an emotional roller coaster!

It was really fun to watch this and realize I'd found almost all of them in my own playthrough! (Except that one wall in Sen's Fortress that needs to be hit rather than rolled through...)
Nicely done! That Sens Fortress wall is a slightly annoying one for not following the normal rules!
I don't think you actually need to summon the witch, I randomly found the gear appear there once I beat the four kings

It is pretty devious how they placed the way to Great Hollow and Ash Lake like wtf. I found it years ago on reddit of all places.
I was really surprised because I have all the trophies in the game and I didn't see this hidden bonfire.

wow! In my first darks souls run ever I've discovered 11 of these 15!! nice video dude
Lets gooooo! Thats awesome, nicely done! Out of curiosity, whats your overall thoughts on DS1 after the first playthrough?
I found them all and interestingly also remember them all, even though it is years since I played Dark Souls.
Finding Ash Lake, was one of my favorite atmospheric gaming moments.
There are also more secrets on the way there.
you only miss those if you rushing the game or playing the game offline, and bonus is literally the main bonfire of the whole catacomb level lol
I have found all of them in my first playthrough playing offline. I can tell that there are much more hidden areas which are hidden much better.
