- Today we take a look at the 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan! Today's video goes in depth with the Grand Caravan! This is a simple version compared to the Chrysler Pacifica for about half the price. Tons of storage space and room for 7 people. The hidden storage under the seats is very nice to have and offers a lot of room. It drives nice and offers what you would need for a people hauler. Visibility for a large vehicle like this is great with all of the glass and it has the power to get it up and moving!

The way it’s high enough off the ground to avoid annoying road obstacles but low enough that you don’t feel separated from
the streets. The tactile feel of the stitching in the steering wheel. How turns aren’t mechanical but an extension of your natural arm movement. How the AC even at it’s most powerful provides a strong yet caressing breeze. How the world melts away except all that is necessary and a cabin that wraps you in ambient warmth. The sweet embrace of car that loves and protects me. The peace of mind that the goal will be reached and the realization of the phrase “it’s the journey not the destination” all makes sense. This is my vacation. That’s what it’s like to drive a minivan.

7:15 Those spaces store the seats so you can have more flat cargo room. The second row of seats fold down similar to the third row.
I'm not sure how that would work because of the way the seats are attached to the floor. They are just there, in the Pacifica it looks like it's more designed to do that, these compartments seem too small for that.
That’s only for the stow and go seat, I don’t think this bench type can fit there
I drive these models for my work at FedEx. I keep it in eco mode and you'd be surprised at how little fuel is used Ina full day of delivering

I heard rumors of the Caravan completely shutting down next May in favor of the Voyager. Has this been confirmed in the states?
Yes it has but in Canada the Voyager is not coming to Canada it's being replaced as a Chrysler Grand Caravan

First of all this is not a leather wrapped steering wheel, but urethane. One thing about these vans is FCA has cheapened their interior significantly. The display in between the two gauges didn’t require switching back-and-forth like it does now. There is no hands-free unless you’re willing to pay another seven or $800 for the package; this means giving up the captains chairs in the second row. The van still rides nice and it does have a heating and air in the front and back, but the seats definitely feel down market and there is no console to keep phones and other highway paraphernalia organized and within reach. The power outlets are kind of a pain to get to as they are practically on the floor at the center stack. Another gripe I had with this van was having to duck my head to get inside. This is the main reason I traded it in for a ram 1500. Another issue with these vans is that they depreciate fast. Do not buy one of these brand new. You can get them with low mileage two years old for half the price

It has one, I filmed this so long ago I don't remember where it was, could be near the cupholders under the second row.
I have a 2015 caravan SE. It seems like they are downgrading these vans. Mine has the storage compartment between the front seats. Also, mine has the captain seats on the second row, it allows me to fold completely flat. The only upgrades I see is the LED headlights, which I can easily put on mine, and the 9 inch screen for the second row, which I also can put on mine. That's just ridiculous how they are allowing one of the best selling vans for dodge to sink. Not to say that costumers are losing interest because they never do anything to keep their own costumers or to attract new ones.
I feel like they are putting more of the tech and all the fantasy features in the Chrysler Pacifica and leaving this one as more of a base or entry level. They can't add to this and drive up the price without the Pacifica getting even more expensive!
I have a 2014 with only 80000 miles in 2021 and this video makes me appreciate my console however all the crappy hard plastic on the dash gets scratched up permanently and looks like crap after the vehicle is a few years old. Even with a steering cover the steering wheel is already stuffed up. I appreciate the power driver seat and the matching painted door handles and mirror that are not on this one. This one did not come with captains chairs in the front row and they didn't look like they folded down in the floor because of that bar in the way and it being a one piece first row seat. That switch that controls the vent windows in the very back has been recalled and has a different color illumination showing if the recall has been replaced or not most minivans have a V6 I don't know what this guy is talking about I have not heard of a 4-cylinder minivan in years unless Kia has a 4-cylinder Sedona or something most minivans in general are now 3 and 1/2L V6s. The road noise is terrible when the vehicle gets a few years old Dodge didn't put any installation in the vehicle and you can hear the wind hitting that sheet metal and windshield like a tin can going down the road. After the struts get to be more than three years old the van begins to ride like a 13 year old van every bump you go over you can hear the struts. After 60 thousand miles the airbag light will come on for no reason. Instead of fixing this problem Dodge decided to discontinue the minivans in 2020 so they don't have to make a recall for the airbag system. Due to this poor quality I will not be purchasing another Chrysler product as my next minivan not even the Pacifica. This body style has been around since 2008 in 2010 or 11 they decided to change the shape of the headlight and taillight and cut down on their insulation and ride quality
Yeah this isn't the nicest car overall. The new Chrysler Pacifica is really nice tho! I can see why they discontinued the Dodge version

Usually the car would have to be on or at least have the accessories on! I haven't checked out the 2020 Dodge Caravan, but I would assume it's carried over!

Hi do the middle row seats fold into the floor
They don't fold into the floor on the Grand Caravan! That's only in the Pacifica! The second row can be taken completely out, but they don't fit into those compartments.

howtobebasic 2 may be old and outdated, but u can get one heck of a deal on one of these. It’s a pretty good car for families that need a minivan but can’t afford an odyssey or a sienna, can easily get one of these for 20-25k

It's called brand recognition and the reason its outdated is because fiat-chrysler made a Five-Year Plan in 2015. after that Five-Year Plan they would discontinue the Dodge Journey and the Grand Caravan that's why it's outdated because it's been discontinued

This car is fine, can last you a long time if you maintain it correctly and can put up with 10 days of consecutive driving for 4 hours or more per day.

The only reason they haven't updated this thing is probably that Chrysler has planned the Chrysler Pacifica, and since they pretty much own Dodge, they probably wanted to have no competition within their cars so they would buy the Pacifica instead of the Grand Caravan.

This van model has remained the same from 2011-2019. Yes it is a 2019. Dodge has not remodeled the Grand Caravan in 9 years. It is being discontinued in 2020, so they do not want to sink money into it.

I'm still running my 2006 and only the AC has failed (missed the recall).
I also have a 2019 SXT premium plus... But it's being converted for wheelchair accessibility. Got it new for $29 400 + tax.

My mom had the 2014 dodge grand caravan and it lasted until late august 2019. The tires became very bald because like 4 nails got into the tires but she wanted to replace this car for 2 years. She bought a brand new 2019 ford escape today and she is loving it. Dodges are known for their amazing storage but the materials are cheap and her 2014 dodge had the blacktop package but everything in the front looks identical
Zachary Shaul I wouldn't say "bad" materials. It's a cheaper vehicle. The infotainment system is old and comically bad: the middle row and rear seats are thin; and the frame does poorly in small overlap collision tests (due to an older design, not to materials). The materials used in the Grand caravan are very similar to that used in the Toyota minivans (hard plastics everywhere).
I see it this way. Regardless of the brand and price, minivans are similar in one way. The tie rods and transmissions are weak and tend to wear out early; the sliding doors become a nightmare after a few years; and they contribute to climate change by burning a metric ass ton of fuel. I buy the cheapest one xD.

I had got this as a rental car. We canceled our vacation due to how choppy the ride was. It was worse in the back. My kids had hard time back there.

Never ever buy this van. I rented this van and it was the worst of all cars I have ever driven. The steering wheel feels like a metal, the seats are so hard and the ride quality is worst at best. You drive for about 30 minutes it hurts your body. My family and my friends who ride in my van hated it.
