Gummies are legal where I am. Good you cut it in half. Never having one I took a whole one way before bed and it hit me while we were out. I went to the bathroom in a restaurant, came out, and wasn't sure where I was. I'm very familiar with the restaurant. Anyway, I cut them in fours. It's not all that it's cracked up to be. Basically, I cycle through really bad insomnia and less so. Practice good sleep hygiene. Hubby comes upstairs, gets in bed and closes his eyes. I come upstairs 2 hours earlier and I'm on my phone and still on it and now trying to wind down and he's been snoring for an hour already. WRT "Beliefs", acceptance of a view as the most plausible and an actual belief is two different things. We should not form opinions on things we know nothing about. Non scientist atheists should not get into discussions on why evolution is the most plausible. BTW. I have never heard an explanation of evolution that I believe. But I have an understanding that works. So I can discuss it. I don't believe the big bang/cosmic expansion theories. But I have an objective explanation of the observations. So I can disagree. Did the universe have a beginning? I'm just going to say that I don't know and nobody knows.
I see your point about the difference between accepting something as plausible and holding it as a belief, it's an important distinction. However, the idea that non-scientists shouldn’t discuss evolution because they aren’t experts seems a bit restrictive. While expertise certainly adds depth to a discussion, it shouldn’t prevent anyone from engaging in informed dialogue. Many people can understand and discuss complex topics with a reasonable level of understanding, especially with accessible resources. As for your stance on evolution and the Big Bang, it’s fair to say you don’t fully accept those theories, but it’s also important to recognize that they’re supported by a large body of evidence, even if not all of it resonates with everyone. Understanding these theories without fully believing them is one thing, but dismissing them outright without a deep examination of why they’re widely accepted might limit the conversation. Your stance on the beginning of the universe is a fair one. Acknowledging that we don’t know everything and that some questions are still open is a sign of intellectual honesty and humility, which is crucial when dealing with such complex topics.✌
@UncleBuZ I didn't mean an actual working scientist. Rather someone who has significant knowledge of the scientific topic. It's not the evidence I reject. It's the interpretation of the observations. I don't think the age or size of the universe is scientific. Because, regardless of how long we can prove the universe has been, that would be a minimum age. We won't know if there was something before. Regardless of how powerful our telescope and how far we can see. We won't know if there's something beyond that limit. So both the size and age of the universe is unscientific. So if a theist were to bring up the "Everything that has a beginning has a cause" argument, I would stop that path immediately.
@@ecocentrichomestead6783 I understand your perspective. It's true that the interpretation of scientific observations can vary, and it’s important to critically evaluate how evidence is framed. As for the age and size of the universe, while it's accurate that we can’t fully know what came before or beyond what we can observe, that doesn't necessarily make the scientific conclusions unscientific. Science, by nature, deals with what can be observed, measured, and tested. The fact that we can’t access everything doesn’t invalidate the methods used to deduce the universe’s age or size based on the evidence we have. It's always a matter of working with the best information available, knowing that our understanding may evolve as new evidence or beetter tools emerge.
WRT Moral standards, they change over time. If we take God out of the picture, we are just another evolving species, learning over time. Judging past actions must be in the context of the knowledge/moral standards of the time.
Your statement is logically sound. Moral standards do evolve over time, shaped by cultural, social, and environmental factors. Judging past actions within the context of the knowledge and moral norms of their time is reasonable, as it acknowledges the progression of human understanding. Removing God from the equation frames morality as a product of human evolution and societal learning, which aligns with a secular perspective. However, recognizing historical context doesn’t mean excusing past wrongs, it simply helps us understand them while using modern moral reasoning to reflect and progress.
@UncleBuZ I agree with the however. We acknowledge that things were done in the past, in hindsight, was a bad idea. Destroying a statue of a former famous person because he owned slaves, is a bad idea.
@@ecocentrichomestead6783 I see your point, and I agree to some extent. It's crucial to acknowledge the flaws in history, but erasing or destroying symbols doesn't always lead to a better understanding of the past. Rather than removing statues, perhaps it’s more productive to provide context, educating people about the full history behind these figures. Acknowledging their wrongs while also recognizing their place in history allows for a more nuanced conversation about how far we've come and where we still need to go.
Isn’t exactly "strange" but more of a common issue with cameras and live feeds, especially when automatic settings are used. The video feed appears fuzzy, with the background blurry but the subject relatively in focus, which is likely due to the camera using a shallow depth of field or struggling with autofocus, especially in poor lighting or with movement. Additionally, the shifting color tones, warming up and then cooling down, suggest an issue with Auto White Balance (AWB), where the camera constantly readjusts the color temperature based on changing lighting conditions or reflective surfaces in the scene. This could also be exacerbated by inconsistent lighting, such as a mix of natural and artificial light, or overly aggressive camera software trying to optimize the image. A fix, the camera settings should be adjusted: locking the white balance, switching to manual or fixed focus, and ensuring consistent, even lighting in the environment. If the fuzziness is due to low-resolution streaming or compression, increasing the upload quality might help as well. ✌
You should talk to Destiny or someone like that to get the counter argument. As this sounds a lot like both sides, false equivalence stuff. Plus we have a case study on what works eg MAGA. This whole they go low we go high means losing. This argument operates from an ideal and not a reality.
Atheist and agnostic as you are will never ever get away from God believing people so I don’t understand why bother debating trying to turn. People did not believing in God it’s futile.
I guess I'll check back in 4 years when y'all are done bitching about Trump. I come here for atheist and deconstruction information, not politics. And yes I know, Trump voters would be bitching just as much if he lost. TDS runs rampant on both sides.
That elephant and rider analogy is a really bad analogy to me. I don't understand it at all. Why does it have to be a person riding an elephant? Why can't it be a cowboy riding a horse? Why does the elephant get stuck with the emotion side? Elephants are highly intelligent and the human rider is definitely more of an emotional creature than the elephant. When emotions run high they take off like a wild mustang, not slow and plodding like an elephant. It just doesn't make sense.
I don't understand this notion of "wanting to believe" something. I'm interested in what is true. I have moral ideas that I suppose could be called beliefs, but even those need to be justified by data of what is actually true.
Better or worse? Having correct information and not having correct information. Being decent to other people and being racist, homophobic, sexist. This is right and wrong.

Yes it is true that Trump said that. The source may be incorrect. I remember seeing him say that on TV ages ago.
what is going on with the color in her video? very strange. -- also loved "bark less, wag more"
Isn’t exactly "strange" but more of a common issue with cameras and live feeds, especially when automatic settings are used. ✌
The elephant is a horrible analogy 😢
What would work better?
Soooo you said a Lot to say what ? All I heard was “ our tribes more in touch with reality “
You should talk to Destiny or someone like that to get the counter argument. As this sounds a lot like both sides, false equivalence stuff. Plus we have a case study on what works eg MAGA. This whole they go low we go high means losing. This argument operates from an ideal and not a reality.
Trump 2024.
MASTODON or BLUESKY. Just do it.
bluesky is truly a breath of fresh air right now
How do you take a gummy wrong 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Atheist and agnostic as you are will never ever get away from God believing people so I don’t understand why bother debating trying to turn. People did not believing in God it’s futile.
You can believe in yourself, you can believe in someone else, but believing in Gods is jus delusional.
Sheathing Andrews? 😘
There he goes again, virtue signaling af.
I guess I'll check back in 4 years when y'all are done bitching about Trump. I come here for atheist and deconstruction information, not politics.
And yes I know, Trump voters would be bitching just as much if he lost. TDS runs rampant on both sides.
*Fascistbook
@TheThinkingAtheist Im a huge cannabis user for my anxiety. Get your med mary jane license. But NO edibles until you are used to it. Lol
Better or worse? Having correct information and not having correct information. Being decent to other people and being racist, homophobic, sexist. This is right and wrong.
