After a decade of hearing the 2006 remaster it's pretty wild to hear the original 2002 mix. Has a very "raw" sound that reminds me of early demos bands occasionally release. I know this is super subjective, but I almost always prefer this kind of raw, dirty mix over clean studio mixes - puts me in more of a live show mood lol Also wow, I forgot this album kicks ass!
I actually enjoyed what I’ve heard so far of this album more than I thought I would. Regardless, even though this isn’t my go to band, one thing I respect about this album is how ahead of its time it was. If this came out today, it would fit right into the metal landscape.
The thing I prefer about this album is how raw it feels, but I love that they made the songs in the blue one last more in outros and interludes (Rational Gaze, Closed Eye Visuals, Obsidian) and the only track that I would replace would be Nebulous, they just made it way sludgier on the blue one and I love that
один из сильнейших у мешугги,я долго их не понимал,а сейчас слушаю только мишугу,зацепило ппц как..настоящий полиритмик метал!!Слушай и другие альбомы catch 33 например и др
The original guitar sounds too high and empty, without depth and forcefulness, but the original drums sounds amazing, much more human and natural. Bass and guitar - remaster. Drums - original
Meshuggah invented djent-first time I heard anything like it and everything since I’d compare to them. It ruined djent music for me because no one compares to Meshuggah
The drums on this are *vastly* superior to the remix. What were they thinking with the remix; it's like sound replacing a black sabbath album with most sterile drums you can find.
@@noclue9238 oh man you know nothing about metal if you think meshuggah is death metal, their obvious roots is metallica, it's prog thrash, nothing to do with death metal

100%!!!!!!
Damn that would be perfect
everything on orange is best
that album cover is a perfectly realistic expression of what listening to this for the first time feels like
Their best album, this was their peak
Yes.
I got this when it came out when I was 13. Life was never the same after lol
just saw them play live here in San Francisco a couple nights ago.. fucking changed my life
I was only a fan for a little while, but I saw them in 06 in Austin, I think with Mnemic, one of the best shows I've ever been to.

YESSS!!!!
Filtered vitamin substance!
So much innovation in this album. Love this band.
I'm really vibing with the confused cartoon fox I spotted on the upper right hand of the album cover
Such a masterpiece. I love this sound.
Maybe a bit strange image, but the guitar tone is so dry it f e e l s like you've tripped and rubbing your face against a concrete wall as falling
@AlexpPresley701 sounds like scrapping your face against concrete? Your 100% high but ey....it kinda does lol

I think you can hear Thomas Haake's ghost notes and you get more of Thordendal's lead stuff.
I like both albums, personally. I think they kick ass.
I love both because it just gives me a reason to listen to it twice.
Well, the remix's drums are shockingly bad, so I'm not surprised if anyone prefers the original. I know I do.
Bought my first real 7 string
I can't unhear 20 years of original sounding cd compared to rerelease mix, just can't do it....plus I like orange better anyway....
the vocals on this mix are so much better than the blue one, sounds like theres more range to it. but everything else is so much better on re-release
Yes the vocals are too far back on the blue, and they have a stereo-doubler thing going on which makes them sound less dynamic.
2 different beasts
I think the snare sounds better here
Drums are definitely better on this release as well, which makes sense considering drums were MIDI on the rerelease.
@@BittersweetDuality I kind of hate how modern metal production all sounds the same.

Absolutely
Orange > Blue
It's yellow/amber, but you're not wrong Orange is a better amp than any named Blue
The guitars sound great on the reissue but the vocals sound hollow. They don't hit me like these. This is my favorite Jens has ever sounded.

Classic. Re-release is good over speakers but the of mix on headphones is>>>>>>>>
Meshuggah and Blut Aus Nord are the only bands that generates me goosebumps before listening any of their albums

First time I realize how amazing is Perpetual Black Second
The original guitar sounds too high and empty, without depth and forcefulness, but the original drums sounds amazing, much more human and natural. Bass and guitar - remaster. Drums - original
The guitars on the remix are completely sterile, you can actually hear the attack on the original. I prefer everything about the original.
