You mention that you didn’t recommend that type of paint.. what kind of paint would be the best for ATV plastics? They no longer make plastics for my particular atv and want to paint them but know cracking will be a major issue. There has to be some type of paint that’s fairly flexible and adhere good. Thanks!
i do custom speakers door panels and small parts on cars and i just use the overall clears and medium reducer BUT since i found out about this brand im gonna do some product changing this stuff will save me so much time and money and i can get it all in one place
I always add flex additive in the clear coat. It creates a bit more orange peel in the finish but well worth it. Since most basecoats are not hardened they are flexible therefore no flex additive is needed in the base. I'm shocked you never added a flex agent.
Great video. A couple questions sparked my brain as to painting plastics. I want to paint my hood coul and was wondering on the adhesion promoter…do you spray the adhesion promoter, then prime, paint, clear? And do you add the adhesion promoter on each step hence to the primer, to the paint and to the clear? Thanks
Hey Marco, quick question. On a lot of the painting videos I watch, yours and others, it seems like or looks like the clear is always sprayed at a much higher pressure? What is the theory or reason behind that?
Other painters spray at 25-29psi for clear, I do not most of the time. But in general yes, clear is sprayed at higher psi being you need more air to atomize the clear coat into a fine mist which creates a smooth orange Peel free finish.

I painted one of my 4 wheelers like a couple years ago the guy I bought it from had it all sanded down and ready to paint so I just made sure to go over it with one and painted it matte black no extra stuff it doesn’t look the best but it stays on there only 1 very small crack I found in 2 years but I wanna try this now
Hey! Doing the same thing, my atv is a renegade 500 and it is a run down yellow since it’s from 2014 and sat in the guys shed or a few years when we bought it. We spray painted it black to match my graphics kit, everyone on Reddit is saying that it will come off but if you don’t have problems hopefully I won’t either. Thanks.

Yea everything is pre mixed, to be used as a mid coat over black , then after 2 coats of the,chameleon 2 nice coats of speedokote high solids clear we have many options for this , cheapest being the smr 1100 euro clear , it is the highest solids cheapest clear on the market

Still coming ! I did some final testing last night , wanted to make sure I was puting out a quality product. Should be on market mid way thro this year :) and I'm giving a hell of a deal on it to. House of colors sells it for 350 a pint !! , I'm looking to sell pints at 80-100 bucks and they will mix 1-1 so that will make 2 pints of chameleon paint !

You have to use an adhesion promoter, and a really good flex able primer sealer also prep has to be good

Adhesion promoter is mainly for plastics. I sprayed paint directly onto it

As long as you use adhesive promoters you should be good !

What compressor and spray gun did you use?
80 gallon 6.5hp puma air compressor. Spray guns vary, I used a Sata jet 3000 on these

Just use paints with flex additives . They still will not last forever but will make them last longer
They make a flex additive. Use it! This dude didn't and it makes no sense to paint ATV plastics without it.

Don't paint atv plastics. One good lick with a stick or something hard and paints done for gonna look even worse then it did before they where painted
I never advise painting plastics. That's for sure. I warned him upfront on all the possible failures of it
