    Best fretboard material I’ve found was a couple of boards of purple heart I picked up from my local building materials recycling store for very cheap! The only mistake I made was not buying all the boards they had! Big mistake!!
    I favor the longer boxes to accommodate a whammy bar! I still haven’t come across one long enough I can use, that Cohiba would do it, I think !! Gorgeous box!

      Thank you. I've used purple heart for a neck, haven't tried it as a fretboard. I also like the whammy bar idea.

    how do you determine scale with a long box...im new at building

      It's really up to you. I have templates and lay then on a ruler and put them on the box to see how long the neck would. My default is 25" scale but that's personal preference.

    Do you resaw those boards down with a band saw?

      No, I check to make sure they are a consistent thickness and cut the width on a table saw.
