    I'm the guy that suggested you do the bolt disassembly and cleaning. Thanks for doing this. If your Q-Tips are too big to fit into the firing pin channel, use pipe cleaners. They have a wire in the middle and there is no tip to break off and get stuck in the deep hole. There are several types you can get; some are just soft material, and others have a stiff bristle wrapped around the wire if there is some scrapping action required. If the fit is too loose in the hole just twist 2 or 3 together until you get a tight fit. You can get these in a smoke shop, or a hobby store, or Walmart in the hobby section. They also come in colors if that floats your boat!

      Solid suggestions all across the board and thank you! Yup, I typed pipe cleaners in the video but didn't verbally mention them. They will work great.

    One tip for people, especially new people, get one or several of those magnetic trays from the auto section or auto store are great for keeping pins and screws from wondering off.
    I seem to recall seeing in another video that if you apply pressure rearward on the boltface then those 2 retaining pins should pretty much fall out. Good video.

      @travisp11  2 роки тому +1

      Yup! I have two of them down in my garage and need to bring those little trays up and you are correct about the bolt face, rearward pressure will make those bolts fall out and also easier to go back in on the re assembly.

    the two wee pins holding the bolt face in place are under tension. if you depress the bolt face prior to inverting the unit, those pins WILL fall out on their own (instead of being pried out with the screwdriver).

    I usually just blast out the firing pin channel with carb cleaner, and then usually a Q-tip sometimes you have to pull most of the cotton off the Q-tip

    Apologies for the out of focus scenes and off angle shots, working around the tripod was a bit akward on this one combined with close up shots.

    Good video. I've replaced the OEM extractor and buffer plate with ones from M*CARBO but never disassembled the bolt head, bolt weight & firing pin. I'll do that this weekend B/C after 500+ rounds I'm sure it's dirty.

    Next time u buy q tips try the one's for makeup. One end has a point and the other looks flats. They work better getting in cracks and holes than the normal q tips. I try to buy both now. Also I watch because of opinion C , I just like knowing things 😁👍

    Cleaning the Ruger PC model 19122 9mm bolt carrier group is a pain in the ass. I own the Ruger PC tactical, and love to shoot it, but hate the cleaning part.

      Just the amount of dissassembly required rivals that of my hi point carbine. Its a shame it couldn't be a bit easier and less time consuming.
