A turbo would be nice but turbo engines are not reliable. This 1.5L engine uses lighter pistons , low tension rings and requires a very light oil specification which is 0w-16. Add a turbo to that and you'll end up with excessive oil consumption and a dead engine in no time. This is the plague of the decade. I am glad there are still naturally aspirated engines available out there and with a reliable manual transmission. I am definitely getting one of these before they are no more made. I am going with the Suzuki Grand Vitara because I find it better looking and more robust inside and out, and cheaper.
The piston and connecting rods are different part numbers on Turbo. That means they are using strengthened components. This is not your typical home-boi turbo swap .

The GV unfortunately needs to work on the finer details of future technology if it wants to have a bigger market advantage on new technolo 14:30 gy cars.
@lungelosikobi6980 when i look at a crossover I just want to sleep. I don't understand why people buy these. Get a proper SUV. Sedans at this price usually have more space and safety anyways

No hybrid here
@@ronz91 not much practical though, the added cost would take years to compensate for the fuel you can save with the petrol+electric hybrid.
😂😂Mr Oldfield is a race car driver to the bone, he didn't approve of the standard tyre
My biggest problem with these cars is that I don't fit at all. they are not made for tall people.
love your videos. wish the engine was a bit bigger. i guess rav4 is the way.
Can you please compare the Toyota urban cruiser with a Toyota starlet cross
Is thé the same size as the Creta or Venue?
I love both these cars, but I feel its actually overpriced. Why would one go for these if you can get an automatic Toyota Cross Xi for R350k. The cross is a bigger car and more powerful. What am I missing?
Toyota did the face better than the Suzuki IMO. That 4-Speed is terrible. Drove the UC from PTA to PLK and it was noisy and consumes a lot of fuel. While it jumps off the line it soon runs out of steam and whines.. and as for the Urban Cruiser infotainment, WTF?
Is it better than mitsubishi expander
Grand vitara is less photogenic but in real life it looks way better than the toyota
Toyota urban cursier is the best car for resale value
True. That's another thing to consider
No automatic cabin lights when opening the front door and locking of the doors on take off in the Urban Cruiser. I recently got the latest spec.
There is- look above the rear passenger doors and click them
The plumblink reference is funny 🤣🤣🤣
It’s a yes from me 🎉 I jus enjoy watching this Japanese engineering collaboration
Ah, eish, I don't know. 1.5L, naturally aspirated in such a large(ish) car... I have a Ciaz, same engine, and I have to time my overtakes carefully. I love Suzuji cars, but I just don't know about this one.
Will we be seeing a Toyota hillux GR review👀
For such a high specced car, I cant believe RDS is nowhere to be seen in the car, or any of the other Suzuki offerings. Why?
The Urban Cruiser is the Toyota equivalent of the Suzuki Brezza, not the Grand Vitara, which is a different model. Unfortunately the new Brezza won't be coming to SA, or so I'm told.
True.
Urban Cruiser = Brezza
Urban Cruiser Hyryder = Grand Vitara
Wait maruti suzuki sells their cars in south africa also ?!!!😮
Lol yes we have Suzuki here too
Suzuki does look better
Grand vitara all the way. 😎
Great SUV for south african family only thing just a big suv 1.4 77 kilowatts a bit sluggish meh. Wish it had a little turbo at least then it would be perfect.
Thats not happening as these are made in India and they dont have the 1.4L Boosterjet there and to import them is a bomb.
@@mindfreeze0838 its pity because then like the old vitara boosterjet engine this would be an awesome .
Nice
The Toyota looks nicer but the Suzuki seems like a better car
Suzota at it again. Win
Coming from a Ford Ecosport titanium, I am disappointed.
The ford has lots of nice frills compared to the GV. I miss the 1 litre 3 turbo boost and 6th dear and reverse, heated seats, automatic rain wipers, 2 usb plugs in the front, and most import in a country where car hijacking is high, I cannot understand why there is not auto locking of the doors after a few metres?
What I like, the ground height clearance of 210, and the comfortable seats and most import the big boot space. The GV unfortunately needs to work on the finer details of future technology if it wants to have a bigger market advantage on new technolo 14:30 gy cars.
Crossovers are so depressing. We need sedans back
please share more, depressing how?😅 I just want to know more about this thought
@lungelosikobi6980 when i look at a crossover I just want to sleep. I don't understand why people buy these. Get a proper SUV. Sedans at this price usually have more space and safety anyways
I prefer sedans, but now buy crossovers / suv's as this seems to be the trend of all vehicle brands. Sedans seem to be classed as old school and may have much lower trade in values compared to SUV's and Crossovers. 😮
@cjacobsza yeah they do have lower trade in value unfortunately
Maybe we can get sedans back again when we get our roads back again!
Hands on the steering wheel pls
Toyota disappoints on specs. That screen should not be in at that price point. At least start with a nice 8 inch screen.
Would have to use the compare tool to get more fine details as to the differences and the prices. I'll take the Suzuki if it's more value for money (ie: more tech).
Chery and Haval >
Both cars have Suzuki's hardware, that's worth to mention
Gostei do Suzuki, mas eu ainda prefiro o Toyota por várias razões
Logic? Both are Suzuki's. Don't let fanboyism cloud your logic.
No boot light in the Urban Cruiser again thats disappointing
In Europe, is the Gran Vitara called the S Cross? It's confusing 😮 because the 4th Gen Vitara last the Grand name and is now a watered down pathetic Crossover.
The 4 speed Gearbox is horrible
Terrible and outdated drivetrain. In 2023 these cars have 77kw/138Nm? What a joke. I drive the Vitara Turbo GLX with a 1.4T and a 6 speed gearbox. Excellent drive that 1.4T is and I easily average less than 5L/100km on short and long distance trips
Grant Vitara for me...
Me too,in the process of buying the glx, maybe slow but reliable
Still no proper middle seat in the second row.
Lack of back support and lack of foot space.
Not many 5 seater cars caters for a family of 5.
Annoying!!
Service plan is 4 yrs / 60 000 kms, not 3 yrs!
Wrong.. 6yr 90k
77kw for over R350k 😂 these cars are a farce as family cars.
Vitara best car
GV Strong hybrid!
Just fit a Rotrexc entrifugal supercharger.
The Suzuki better
Unpopular opinion: Toyota is the Nintendo od the car world. Heavily overpriced for what you get. We can all debate reliability etc but times have changed compared to the 90's and 2000's where Toyota reliability was king. There are plenty brands that have great reliability. So that really doesn't stand out for me anymore as a reason to buy a Toyota.
man your music is too loud
Urban Cruiser
Urban cruiser is the rebadged version of suzuki brezza and grand vitara and Toyota hyrider is together devaloped by suzuki and Toyota and made in Toyota factory
