@Flame Resistant Troll The first qualifying session at Monaco used the high-mounted wings - they were then banned. All qualifying times were scrapped and the process of qualifying recommenced.
Thanks for this upload. What a window to racing fifty years ago, and how much concerns are still the same - aero, cost, risk. Thankfully, driver loss is now very rare, and may it remain so!
Man.. what a great era for New Zealand F1, Bruce and the champ Denny Hulme in the McLarens & Chris Amon in the Ferrari! Hopefully we can see Liam Lawson and Louis Sharp in F1 together some day soon. And also a constant stream of other kiwis continuing to dominate Indy, WEC, Super Formula, Super GT, FE.....whatever else with a motor.
literally there are videos of people in the 1950's complaining about how the racing wasnt good anymore and that pre-war races were a lot better F,1 fans will never stop being weird lol
GREAT ! Thank you. What a time it was, as the guy at the beginning indicates, in every race back then a fatality was, if not expected, anticipated. And what a poignant comment by the unmatchable Graham at the end.
The best times of formula 1 in my city of Mexico was unfortunate the change of the original layout omitting three of its best curves what was the best of all time currently the same emotion of those times is not experienced..
@@marguskiis7711 No! It isn't. It isn't the Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Team. It is owned by corporations, has no time for innovation, no time for involvement in real motor racing, just the car pilots who steer a car, that is controlled by the techs and mechs in te pits. Brake balance, fuel mixture, tyre pressures, everything is controlled by the pit crews. That is not motor racing. And, from my past frequent visits, there is no one as decent, and nice, as Bruce was.

Bad edition at the time...great footage, script, etc etc but interviews and details run while the race is going on - in fact, you hardly understand they were racing , warming up or just training...i ts not surprise TV udience was not catch at the time...and ends abruptly, credits and so...terrible job..
Shamefully sexist questions to the female interviewees from Barry Gill. Honestly it was a different era but really, instead of asking them would they marry one of the drivers ask them if they would like to drive the cars themselves. Great footage though, but cringeworthy commentary.
Graham Hills comment about the past racing compared to the then now times are just as relevant today as they were back then.
, enalapril Cox vi cool
The more things change, the more they stay the same…😂
I was just about to say the same thing.
3:40 I believe that young girl might have been a Jim Clark fan. Regardless, whoever it was broke the poor girl's heart.
9:05 "not anymore" pretty tells the story :-(
Great footage of the high-mounted rear wings mounted directly on to the suspension that were later banned after the 1969 Monaco Grand Prix.

Why they are specifically banned?
@@momoloco99rh the downforce was too much for the wing supports, which would collapse
some great interviews with the pubic. a awesome snapshot of a moment in time.

Wow people were complaining about the current state of f1 even back then, nothing’s changed
It’s seems like someone’s “good ‘ol days” is another persons “this isn’t as good as in my day” lol

Full face helmets invented by Gurney and debuted in British GP 1968 became pretty popular already at the end of season I see.
Wonderful! Thank You for posting.

The 68 Cooper was a great looking car especially in that colour.

Graham Hill, "I'd like to live to a hundred", then he goes and flies a cheap aircraft! Sad. Great to see my hero, Bruce McLaren, doing so well.

The orange McLaren team is doing great now.
Yep, avoiding the amateur aviation Graham would celebrate his 100 quite soon. Maybe Damon will do it...

Strange to think 4wd F1 car seemed quite an idea in 1968.
Wonderful stuff!
Did Mexican TV air the Mexican GP at any stage between 1963 and 1970?
Yes, I remember that clearly

If you understand it as history, instead of the current standard of society, you might find less recoil in observing.
