- Grab some coffee and your mocs! Got a short one for you this morning. After recording this episode, I had an idea about where I can take this show. I'll be incorporating that idea naturally as we go and I think you'll like it. Don't forget to leave a question in the comments!

Anytime I’m on a list with Ponce is a W. My favorite pair of hands that I marched with belong to Chris Worthington. He was someone Float taught since he was a little kid so by the time he came to BD, everything looked and sounded pure and natural like “yep, that’s the way it’s supposed to be”. Within the last 10 years of people I’ve seen in person it’s a toss up between Cheese and Keelan. Again, there’s a purity to their sound like it’s not “infected” by effort or anything else. Just some clusters of notes happen to be more dense than others but it’s not as if resonance gets lost or the pitch goes harsh at any time.
I wanna hear about what groups inspired you, like what was your first show, maybe high school experiences/ memories. Just stuff about younger marching years. Also, I’d love to hear some of the music you’ve been working on.
This will be good. I just know it.
naw it’s clickbait ;)
Also, Mcm is doing virtual shows, on Flomarching and is just posted there. Along with a lot of other groups.
Oh man I got called out. LOL. I totally spaced about the questions... NO Bakersfield this weekend. Question for next episode. What are your thoughts on marching coming out of the pandemic? Do you think it will go off like normal or with restrictions with fans, corps size and so on? What about the size of the activity itself...will it grow due to it being shut down for a period of time? My guess is that it takes off as everything starts to open up.
Oh yeah and FYI Pete Ellison ran an indoor group called Black Knights. I taught there in 99 with my buddy Chris Burroughs. We rehearsed in the Fry’s parking lot in Burbank. Mike Jackson taught there later (03?). I want to say Tony Nunez and Kevin Shah marched there? They were a nice PIW group in the 2000s.
oh yeah i’m familiar with black nights. huge names came out of there. thank you for educating me 🙏🏼
I wanna hear about indoor show design. Like west coast vs east coast and even the groups here in So Cal. Pulse vs RCC be Broken City and how they all have unique voices. I know it’s a loaded question but I always wanted to hear your take.
that’s a great question. I’m going to highlight this is a main topic for the next episode.
