Really cool display. The more I have seen out of this PC the more impressed I am. And this is from the 80's. About the same time I was playing Carmen Sandiego on a CGA monitor.
I redeemed the Steamkey: this looks like a fun game to spend some hours with -- it's TOWNSMEN: A KINGDOM REBUILT. A medieval town-building sim with a pleasing art style. Cheers, Gary!
Fun fact: I was thinking about searching a video about top 100 beast sharp x68000 games then I'll have to do it later and then suddenly out of nowhere UA-cam suddenly recommend me this video on my youtube home! (Is youtube reading our minds?! Now that's some technology!)
So many cool games in this video, and they look great! A lot of ports that look familiar from PCE & MD, but also a lot of games I've never seen before -- shmups, racers, even a couple of platformers that look rather charming. Time to do some exploring... Now that you've made videos for MSX 1/2 & x68000, probably the two most interesting on the Japanese home computer front -- what's #3? FM Towns? NEC PC's? I love the idea of finding action-game gems on these long lost JP PC's....
It really has an incredible library; not only did it feature best-in-class arcade ports, it also featured greatly enhanced ports from other home consoles; not only that, but it also played host to ports from the IBM-PC world - *and* in addition to this, it's own extensive library of exclusive games... A great question on where to go next ... some research needs to be done!
The sort of successor to the MSX. Shame a lot of these games are dead with it. I'd buy Nemesis 90 Kai for sure. I think I'm going to have to get Castlevania Chronicles from the JPN PSN for PS3.
@@bigedwerd PCs costed a lot more back then. A decent PC went for about $2500. In the early 90s, my parents bought a used 286, which was almost obsolete by then, and it still costed about $800. I’ve got the receipt to prove it. You can find scans of old computer catalogs on the internet which should give a better idea of what prices were like back then.
Whaaat? What is creepy about "177"? I mean, it's just a foot race game! Nothing creepy about that! (Seriously, I joke. For those who don't know -- do NOT look up "177". This game actually caused a moral panic in Japan...)
It’s a shame the West never got this computer. It would’ve been awesome to have an arcade board for a PC that could play near-arcade perfect ports of just about everything from the late 80s/early 90s. The Japanese always seemed to keep the best stuff to themselves.
Just found out this system existed. Hard to believe a lucky few had access to that gaming power in the late 80s. I wasn't playing anything remotely close until mid 90s when I got a SNES. Even then it looks like the 68000 had better ports of a lot of console games. Biggest drawback I see is the lack of a hdd. This means some games would have to be on 7+ 5.25" diskettes. Meaning a lot of "please insert disk 4" messages to interrupt the action. Would be cool to see new games developed for this now that retro gaming has made such a comeback recently.
The vast majority of the system's game library will run off of 2MB of installed RAM. The more workstation oriented software (non-games) could vary, and the system could cap out at 12MB of total RAM with the appropriate expansions.
Hello Gary great video bro, great video, can you make a video about games for PC's that don't have graphics card or PS2 games ported on PC? It's just a suggestion, keep it up with theese great compilations about old and cool video games👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

An interesting video, nice to see you give titles to the games, some UA-camrs don't.

As always, amazing video.
Thank you 😊

Whoaaa these games look amazing! Why didn't I own a Japanese only computer in the mid 90s 😂
Possibly because this computer cost like $3,000 ;)
@@sheets75 oof that's insane
Computers didn’t dip below $1k until the late 90s. $3k wasn’t unreasonable to spend on a computer back then.
@@downsouth420 I believe you, but it's hard to imagine.

Looks like a powerful little thing! Impressive.
A list of 100 games with an extra (creepy) game ending the list to my shock...

The music in these games is very nice

If you got money you can buy one on ebay but its not cheap. About $2500 for a complete system. Games are expensive also.
Akazukin Cha Cha Cha in not on the Sharp X68000 games list on Wikipedia nor on on moby games. Was it not official?
A Homebrew game

Thanks to the X68000 Coin-Op Arcades trully came home
Nice graphics
I wonder how much RAM are needed to run all these games?!

Hey, thanks! Those are interesting ideas for videos - I've seen a few "games for low-spec PCs" around, so I'll consider it in the future!
Excelente video 👌
Great great !!!
Tfw you weren’t a rich japanese kid in the 80s
aw, somebody already used the steam key
I wonder what it was
The gameplay/graphics are ok....but the sound design! Wow! Every game sounds great.
I like game all games old 1985😍
Where's the Pac-Man games, they're ported from the Sharp X68000.
아르고스의 전사가 없네
Strip fighter😭
Que genial
not genocide 2
It's genocide.
Did you know that the creator of Star Cruiser is actually the first trans game developer ever?
Some very poor games but some good ports and Amiga has some very skilled coders
You realize this video has absolutely nothing to do with the Amiga, right? This video revolves around the Sharp X68000 home computer.
