I love your videos. My 10 yr old daughter wants a sugar glider really bad. I am thinking of getting her one but I'm doing a lot of research with my daughter to learn how to care for them. Your videos have helped us the most. So thank you.
currently watching this on my laptop while in a 2 person pop up tent with my glider wrapped in fleece down my shirt lmao good to know im doing something right
Victoria Snyder- she needs a companion. Gliders grieve like we do when our friends pass away, and they don't do well alone. So, yes, she needs a new buddy and for a ton of reasons. Fleece pouches are what she should sleep in; I hope you don't have a heat rock- they are not necessary. A lot of people, unfortunately this includes some vets, don't have accurate information about proper sugar glider care. The time you spend with her is awesome! But that isn't the same as someone her size to snuggle with at night. Sounds like you're a great suggie mama :) keep up the good work on looking for ways to make her happier! ^_^
Hi Lisa, thanks SO MUCH for your videos ! I find them super helpful and even though I've had my sugars for nearly two years now I still feel at times we are taking baby steps with Miss Holly who has needed extra comforting and reassurance from mummy that she really is safe and loved and has nothing to fear. Her smaller twin sister was outgoing and willing to bond from the get-go but I was greatly intimidated by Holly's LOUD crabbing and biting and this sometimes set our bonding back. Holly will snooze all day in a pouch hung around my neck now but Ivy prefers sleeve riding as I go about my daily chores inside. Thanks again Lisa ! Your babies are beautiful !
Wow, thank you so much for posting this video. I just got a 2 year old female yesterday who does not crab so much but she does sometimes. She has eaten from a spoon I was holding yesterday, and today she licked yogurt off of my finger. I really hope that we will be as bonded with me as you are with your sugar gliders.
I want to say thank you...I been watching your videos on bonding n I got a glider n he is 3 years old already when I got him n I been trying to bond with him I have had him for a month n things are moving slowly...but I watched n have been trying your tips and things are much better now....he is in his pouch and down my shirt sleeping as I'm writing this...lol...him and I still got a lot of bonding to do n I'm not gonna give up lol...just wanted to say thank u for makin these videos it is definitely helping me n givin me hope that we will bond fully...thank u thank u lol
I wish you make a video with the history of your first glider, How did you bond with her in the first time just to get more ideas😅 .I just got my first sugar glider Ariel we already have 1week together and I try to expend all day with her inside my sport bra it's not difficult to handle, she is pretty easy going. Well I enjoy watching your videos while I'm with her ,they are really help full 👌🏽.
Just wanted to say I really appreciate your videos! I'm investigating three different choices of pet for when I get my own apartment and this information is very helpful in my consideration. I like to be informed before hand to prevent later rehoming.
Awesome my giggles is now snuggled up and asleep!!! It took me months just to pet him a small amount he’s never allowed me to hold him this long!! ☺️☺️
You are a great teacher :) :) I have had a couple of babies about 3 weeks. We have been doing tent time for bonding. I have not been able to put them in a bonding pouch. One glider is starting to sit on me but the other will jump on me a second and then jump off and jump around tent. So I would need a pouch. Or is tent time still better for bonding? I cannot take them to work unfortunately.
i keep my sugar glider in my pocket, inside my shirt on my shoulder or i tuck in my shirt and he goes to the bottom, but he can stay their the hole day without coming out. but i think any kind of movement wakes him up, still looking for a good spot to keep him
Okay, not sure if you still read the comments but if anyone does, I have 2 gliders and they aren’t afraid to come to me when i put my hand in the cage and they’ll climb on me but then once they are out the cage they get super skiddish and try to run the the floor immediately. I wear a pouch and try to hold them often I’m just not sure what to do
I'm not sure if you still read these but I have the opposite problem with bonding pouches. I adopted two bonded gliders from a family that stayed in a tiny "starter cage" for 3 years and they are bonding pouch OBSESSED. Their cage only had a pouch, their wheel, and food/water. After a few days of being in their cage I moved to a much larger cage with toys, hammocks, and tunnels. I couldn't stand them being in there and I think I moved them to their cage too soon. It's been a few weeks and neither of my two want anything to do with me. The smaller one (Zoey) is a HUGE crabber and refuses anything to with me unless I have peace offerings (usually yoggies or fruit), then she runs away. They HATE coming out of their pouch unless it's about 2 am and they need to go play and eat and they are SURE that no one is around. The bigger one (Wash) seems to be coming around and he will poke out of the pouch and investigate me but neither will give me the chance to even try to scoop them up in fleece. I wear them in the pouch during the day and one of them will crab 80% of the time. Do you have any "next step" advice?
So in a few days. I'll be getting a pair of sugar gliders. A male and a female. Brother and sister. And they are coming from a mutual friend because they aren't able to spend as much time with them as they would like to. They are roughly 4-5 years old. (As I've been told). And I wanted to know the best ways to bond with them. Being new to them. I have watched your video and it really helps. But I don't know if it's the same as it would be if they are babies, having already been interacting with humans. If you could help me out that would be great. Oh. And changing their diet? They are already on a water, chicken, apples, and worms diet, and I was wondering if I can change them completely. Or if I have to slowly introduce the diet, the diet being what you use. But slightly different.
She'll I need some advice m so nervous every I just got my suger glider an I have him now 4 days. Wen wen ever I go near the cage he crabs I tryed to put him in the bonding pouch I removed the pouch an then put him in the bonding pouch he crabbed every time I moved. Do you think I should keep on trying or still leave him be I went to stick my hand in cage an I think he went to snip at me. This video was great. I don't feel so bad now that I watched this video
This is a weird question. But my sugar glider likes little raisins. Could I give Penny a prune for a treat but only let her have it for a short time?? I really like your videos. You are very helpful. I have 1 sugar glider Penny. She's not bonded completely. I am trying to do that like you expanded. I what to eventually have several.
Hi there! I love your videos, they're super helpful. I had a question. I just ordered pouches that are easy to grab into, like in your video, and plan on using it for the bonding process. My question though is, my gliders are a bit nippy (only had them for three days) and I'm wondering when I should start to pick them up without the fleece, and if so, how to do it. thank you!
Hello. I saw that you posted this a while back. I lost the last of my colony last year and am ready for more babies. I am about to rehome a 4 year old female that a girlfriend of mine has and no longer "has time for". Her bonded mate, who was 13 years, just passed and according to my friend, "she didnt take to the two gliders they attempted to bond her to". I am a bit nervous but after watching your video think that we may be okay. I love her very much and want to do what's best for her. She is used to being handled but not used to me as her mama or my home. The last colony I had I got all together as babies (between 3-4 months) so rehoming an older glider is not something I am familiar with. Not that 4 years is old but as gliders go she is considered "beyond bonding age". My more logical side says given time and lots of love, she will adjust just fine. What is your process when you bring a new glider home? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Your posts are the most helpful I have found!
Your videos are awesome. Quick question, are all your boys neutered? Did you get them intact or already neutered? I am getting a little boy and would love to hear any experience (if any), you have had with neutered vs. intact boys or just neutering in general. I have read a lot about it but personal experience beats just information.
Hello. Well I have had my Letty for a few weeks now. She is doing much better since she first got here but she is still timid and scared at times. I remember you mentioning that your Gizmo was a crabber and a lunger....how long did it take for him to calm down? Any special tricks you remember that were helpful? I just recently got her a baby sister named Daisy. Letty is 4, Daisy is 3. I am picking Daisy up in 3 days. Any tips on doing introductions between my girls?
i have a question, how can i make my sugar glider comfortable when i turn on the lights, he freezes and looks for a place to hide like inside my shirt (dark place)
Hello I'm having my suggie babies for few months now. About 3 months. They came when they were 2 months. But they don't like to be inside my T-shirt. They are coming to me but still they're trying to roam around when they are taken out from the cage. I want them to train them to sleep on my palm and don't want them to run away from me when they're out. So any tips for that? Thank you.
Love your videos thanks for taking the time to make them my niece gave me one she had two but one died how long do I have that I need to get another one ? Also can more than one person bond with the sugar glider?
Hi. I'm strongly considering getting a glider in the near future (I've wanted one for years!). I currently have a 4.5 year old holland lop bunny. I adopted him about 6 months ago and was hoping a sugar glider and him (if introduced correctly) could become friends and have been trying to find someone who may have some input on this.. my bunny is really sweet and social, jumps up and sits with me on the couch, follows me around the house and im told hes friendly towards other animals once he knows theres no threat. Any thoughts I n how the two animals will mix?
I would really discourage this. I don't know what kind of parasites or germs bunnies carry that could be transferred to a glider. Best bet is to get 2 gliders so they can snuggle and play together. I would LOVE to have a bunny hopping around the house! You really gotta consider what would happen if they would fight with each other. A glider vs. a glider would be evenly matched. However, a dog, cat, bunny, etc would have major advantage over a sugar glider and an unmatched fight should an argument start. Better to be safe than sorry.Good luck! :)
could you do a video or give me some tips on an older prewoned glider I am getting from my cousin? im a new glider owner. should I just follow the tips from your older untamed glider video?
Yup! Sometimes older gliders can take longer to adjust than joeys and that's ok. On the other hand, if they have been handled by the owner you are getting them from, it shouldn't be AS terrifying. They will still need time to adjust, and bond. Changing homes is stressful for most gliders.
I just rescued two male untamed gliders that are not nutuered what is the best way to bond with them and what is the best diet I've done tones of research and some say a dry pellet with vitamins and some fruits. Any information is helpful I'm a new mommy that wants the best for hey kids.
I've had my sugar glider since April and he's always been very sweet. I was quickly able to have him in my shirt all day while at work. But recently whenever I try to take him out of my shirt he gets really angry. It used to be Just him making a sorta hissing noise to show he's irritated but now he's starting to actually nibble at me...have I done something wrong?
Hi Lisa I'm getting a sugar glider from a different owner now will I have to leave them in the cage to get used to me and start the process all over of getting used to there new family
I was thinking of re homing some gliders from some people that are moving and wont be able to care for them anymore. There are 3 gliders and 2 of them are 4 years old and the other one is 2 years old. How hard do you think it would be to get them bonded to me considering they aren't babies anymore?
Ok so I got a female Joey a couple of weeks ago she was very bonded to the breeder. However she lunges at me a bites where there is blood on my fingers and hands. I sit by her cage talk softly to her and all she does is crab and when I get to hold her when she lets me she bites and lunges at my face I've even tried treats the honey on the finger Everything! What am I doing wrong please help....Even in bathroom time she does the same please give me some advice to what to do she'll be getting two other joeys cage mates in a month I try to keep her on me or in my bra pouch but she crawls out and jumps everywhere!
I`ve done everything that i could think of but still my sugar glider seems to be afraid of me -cupping them in my hands for few minutes every chance that i could everyday -stroking their heads gently -putting them in a bonding pouch and carry them every where i go -putting my t-shirt in their cage soo that they could recognize my scent -hand feeding them still they are terrified of me please help me
Putra Tashmil you have to take it slow with them work at their pace just be patient and they wikk come to you feed treats only through the cage bars and make a popping noise and see if they will come to the cage if you have any further questions just reply to the comment
I'm getting two gliders in two days and they were already bonded together as sisters will they prefer the pouch do you think? I think they are about 5 years old or younger.
HI! I was just wondering what you suggest for gliders who were handled from OOP by the breeder and are now in their new home. They were skittish at first and usually ran away when I reached in to change the water or move a blanket that I forgot to do earler in the day while they were asleep or I was at work but now they are so bold they jump right on me and bite. I could hardly get the one off of my hand before she bit me about seven times. No blood but little welts and a scrape from one bite. I'm not really messing with them too much because I just got them. I sit on my bed and watch them jump around and I will occasionally talk to them if they look over at me. But aside from reaching in to do some minimal cleaning I haven't messed with them. When do I know when I can start the bonding process? Since yours needed to get used to being touched and mine have been toiched crom day one how should I start off? Sorry this is so long. I'm just really worried. And a first time glider owner. Please help!
Thanks for your videos, they have been so helpful! One quick question, I would really love to hear your experience. (or can you point to a vid where you've covered this?) How does it work if they are in your shirt specifically or you are working on keeping them on you during daytime bonding to help them become bra babies and they have to poop or pee?
why is my baby ok with me when is in his cage but if i try touching him he freaks out if his sleeping in his bonding pouch i can touch him other than that I can not
I have a question; If you go on vacation and leave your sugar gliders at home with a pet sitter, is that okay? Or do they need to bond with you really often?
Hello! My name is Kat and I'm deciding where or not to get a sugar glider and I looked up some videos and I found you. Your videos are the better videos that are more convincing than all the other videos on here. I haven't watch all your videos (yet) but I watched a couple of them. I was curious, what room temperature is best for these cute critters? And do you know if they cause allergies?
Thank you. I have a video that answers your question about house temp, but a general rule of thumb is "if you're comfy, they are comfy". As for allergens... Very few people that I know of have thought they had an allergy to gliders; even then I don't think it was ever proven true or anything. My personal opinion is they are low on the allergen list. As long as their fleece is changed often and poo tray cleaned, they will have very little smell. (Until they pee or poo, then change your shirt- lol)
May I have your email in case I have any other questions? I would also like to know where you adopted your babies. I live in Miami, FL and I'm trying to find any breeders down here should I just buy one from a petstore? How do I know if they're healthy? D: My boyfriend and I are currently doing our research before we adopt one so it might take a while before it all goes down. We want to be well informed and ready.
mammab1203@gmail.com I do not suggest getting any animal from a pet store, you don't know anything about it. Once you e-mail me, I'll send you some info on a few breeders.
Vid had my gliders for about 1 1/2 months. I only get to spend about 1 hour a day during week and 4 -6 hours on weekend with them. They are starting to get used to me but they are bitty g me hard still after licking me. They run away a little from hand then they bite and nibble. They are putting their 2 front hands on my and suffice g licking biting. I just want to do it right. One crabs still only for a little bit and one doesn't at all. Any tips?
Do not jerk your hand away when you get bitten, instead hiss at them. Just a quick, firm "fsst" when they bite. If that doesn't work, it's ok to blow a little tuft of air at them.
Breanna, shouldn't be too bad to get them bonded. If they are closely bonded with their current owner, they might get a little depressed. However, that just means more attention from you will be needed :)
hi! i want to ask you can we make adult SG bond with us because i brought adult SG from my friend and i did not know whether we still can bond with or not. hope you can answer as soon as possible. tq
My wife's sugar glider lunges and bites at her? Even giving a treat she lunges still fingers instead she's only 2 or 3 months old she even did the sounds like you made for biting but it didn't work.
Hi Lisa. So I have a question. I am a stay at home mom and I am getting a 6 month old glider Saturday from a friend. it has been by itself since it was 8 weeks old. I asked a question on Facebook on a glider page and I am getting grief on it being by itself and that I should really get another one. As of right now I'm not able to do that. will it be OK by itself? thank you
it is best for the glider if he/she is not alone. It is not uncommon for a glider to get depressed because its lonely. however, often, they do ok until a buddy can be found.
It depends on her personality. My Penelope did great by herself getting used to me before I introduced her into my colony... However, Lilly was a booger about it! If it weren't for Lilly's sister, Daisy, she would probably still be a hateful little thing. In Lilly's case, having her sister made bonding MUCH easier. Penelope, on the other hand, has always been a social butterfly lol also, how she reacts to you will depend on how she's been handled thus far. Is she used to being handled? Or is she used to being left alone? It is a process and takes time with all gliders.
I know you said cup them so they wont go off but how do I cup them while preventing bites? I have a 4 month old glider who I bought just last month and he is very VERY MEAN and if had the chance will take a good bite out of mi hand. He already bit me once and drew blood and my finger was sore for about 3 days. I really dont wish to go through that again, I know I have to but this guy can really take a bite. How can I prevent that while bonding since saldly I have to start the whole process as if I just got him. -_-'
He did try and also sniff my fingers which is when he took the bite and hurt it. I trusted he would just smell it but he bit it and I havnt interacted as much with him after that.
Hey i would like to know if any bugs and worms are okay for my sugar gliber and do they stop eating when they are full or they will just keep eating until its finish ??
It is hard to wait, but you should wait a few days/nights before doing much of anything with your glider. This allows then to get used to one thing at a time in their new home. Sights and sounds, then you.
I have always wanted a sugar glider for as long as I can remember. There is a lady that is selling them for $80-male and $120 for female but said in a message she would sell them for $50 each. I asked her why she wanted to get rid of them and she said she has too many and doesn't have enough time to bond with them! She says she has an older one of 9 months and little ones 4-5 months. Should I believe her? What should I look for? How do I know how old they are? Is there anything I need to know about a 4-5 month old one versus a baby sugar glider? What is the age when sugar gliders are adopted out as a baby? Like what is a good age to adopt a baby? Is male or female nicer? I've done my research, I know what is all involved, I really want to adopt hers but not sure if I am going to be dupped into a mean glider or sick one. Why would someone sell them so cheap?
why is my baby ok with me when is in his cage but if i try touching him he freaks out if his sleeping in his bonding pouch i can touch him other than that I can not

That's a glider thing. They're nocturnal, so their eyes are built for darkness; lights will bug them. Best option would be to use a dimmer light.

Can you do a diy on your cube pouch?
Hello I'm having my suggie babies for few months now. About 3 months. They came when they were 2 months. But they don't like to be inside my T-shirt. They are coming to me but still they're trying to roam around when they are taken out from the cage. I want them to train them to sleep on my palm and don't want them to run away from me when they're out. So any tips for that? Thank you.
Wear a large pocket t shirt inside out with your glider in the pocket!!
How do u deal with there waste would u mind making a video on that
Hi Lisa I'm getting a sugar glider from a different owner now will I have to leave them in the cage to get used to me and start the process all over of getting used to there new family
I`ve done everything that i could think of but still my sugar glider seems to be afraid of me
-cupping them in my hands for few minutes every chance that i could everyday
-stroking their heads gently
-putting them in a bonding pouch and carry them every where i go
-putting my t-shirt in their cage soo that they could recognize my scent
-hand feeding them
still they are terrified of me
please help me
Putra Tashmil you have to take it slow with them work at their pace just be patient and they wikk come to you feed treats only through the cage bars and make a popping noise and see if they will come to the cage if you have any further questions just reply to the comment
I want to be that sugar glider 😍
can you do one on tips of bonding with baby like what you did
Yes I make them... Haven't sold any before tho
I'm getting two gliders in two days and they were already bonded together as sisters will they prefer the pouch do you think? I think they are about 5 years old or younger.
i love your videos
Please help!
hi I have 2 sugar glider, 1 girl and 1 boy, I try to bond with them for a month but they rejected me, I really feel so bad -_-
Where did you get the cube and how did you make it?
hi i was wondering is it best to have two or more sugar gliders or will one be ok to have i have read every where u need a pair
Enjoy them
i have had him for about 2 months now
it has been 3 weeks since we got our glider and she does not let us touch her
Thanks for your videos, they have been so helpful! One quick question, I would really love to hear your experience. (or can you point to a vid where you've covered this?) How does it work if they are in your shirt specifically or you are working on keeping them on you during daytime bonding to help them become bra babies and they have to poop or pee?
Thanks good info!!!!
my new glider is one year old, is it possible that my new glider will bond with me and can i train it?
why is my baby ok with me when is in his cage but if i try touching him he freaks out if his sleeping in his bonding pouch i can touch him other than that I can not
How old are your gliders
I have a question;
If you go on vacation and leave your sugar gliders at home with a pet sitter, is that okay? Or do they need to bond with you really often?
Hi Lisa,
Can you explain what you mean by "bathroom time"? Thanks! :O)
Very few people that I know of have thought they had an allergy to gliders; even then
I don't think it was ever proven true or anything.
My boyfriend and I are currently doing our research before we adopt one so it might take a while before it all goes down.
I have had my sugar glider for about a month do you think it’s to late for me to get him to Bond
hi! i want to ask you can we make adult SG bond with us because i brought adult SG from my friend and i did not know whether we still can bond with or not. hope you can answer as soon as possible. tq
My wife's sugar glider lunges and bites at her? Even giving a treat she lunges still fingers instead she's only 2 or 3 months old she even did the sounds like you made for biting but it didn't work.
I think girls don't like the bonding pouch because my girl gliders hates them but my two boy gliders love them
My girl likes her bonding pouch.
it depends on the glider
+Lisa Luu ok thank you. I will see what I can do to get her a buddy when I can. will this make the bonding process harder with her not having a buddy?
It depends on her personality. My Penelope did great by herself getting used to me before I introduced her into my colony... However, Lilly was a booger about it! If it weren't for Lilly's sister, Daisy, she would probably still be a hateful little thing. In Lilly's case, having her sister made bonding MUCH easier. Penelope, on the other hand, has always been a social butterfly lol also, how she reacts to you will depend on how she's been handled thus far. Is she used to being handled? Or is she used to being left alone? It is a process and takes time with all gliders.
I believe she has been left alone. The girl I'm getting her from says she's a bitter
Hurm day 3 and Im still afraid to touch him and he keep crabbing.. 😔
Faez Hesargh takes time he will get there and it’s amazing. When they start trusting you.
Can you do a video on unneuter male
im having alot of trouble with the bonding process with my suggies please help what is your email address
Do you sell pouches? If so how much
:)
Regular pouches are approx $5 and the ones with the upside down hearts on the sides are $7. Plus s&h
Lisa Luu What about the cube owl one, do you sell any like that?
haha wife beater lol jk, I just think that's funny :) great vid!
Hey I was told that the 1st 2 days they should be left in cage. Does the 1st night count. I want to bond with them
It is hard to wait, but you should wait a few days/nights before doing much of anything with your glider. This allows then to get used to one thing at a time in their new home. Sights and sounds, then you.
im not english where do i get my bonding stone to bond the sugar glider ?
also how do i make it fly ?
Duck tape and a lot of glue.
Alex Sander you can't make it fly
So your saying its better to have to sugars then one?
Yes. They are colony animals, so they are happier and healthier with a friend.
I'm 10 and I know that that type of bra is called a strapless bra.
what and why do they crab?
Because they are a prey animal that are afaid of you and that is a way they scare you off
If that doesn't work they will bite
Why would someone sell them so cheap?
hi
Do u have a email?
Very difficult to hear you :(
Why do you put them in your breast??????????
why is my baby ok with me when is in his cage but if i try touching him he freaks out if his sleeping in his bonding pouch i can touch him other than that I can not
