I'm working with two levels. But drilldown does not work any on web-side. And also there are coloring issues on PowerBI desktop on drilldown function. So sad that there are no update for about 19 months.
I remember that there were issues with Power BI/Map Box on older versions of chrome and Edge (believe it or not). I was of the opinion that had been fixed though. There doesn't seem to be much happening on the update front with MapBox. Despite that, it still remains the best of the mapping visuals available to Power BI. IMHO. However, you may like to have a look at the Icon Map visual by James Dales, it's running a very close second to MapBox.
Is there a way to allow slicers to automatically drill through in a mapbox map? I'm using different overlays, and I find that I need to manually drillthrough in the map too see the results of the filter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Edgar, I don't believe it's possible. The best outcome I can obtain is to use the next level button to get to the lowest level and applied higher-level filters will display the selected lower levels.
Awesome, I made it for the Brazilian map, however not working for level 3 in my case the auto-zoom not focused on polygons, I guess it is related to there is a limitation to show all Brazilian cities polygons around 5 thousand, so do you have some examples using level 3? thanks for the advice.
Yes, I have gone to 3 levels but, like yourself, I found issues with the display of the lower layers. I find Mapbox has a problem rendering boundaries when the auto-zoom goes below a certain level. Sometimes you can display the lower levels by manually zooming out and then back in. I think the problem lies with the zoom levels when the layer is created in "Studio.". MapBox suggest ways of changing the zoom levels but, I've never been successful with them.
I want to add polygon in map with values and then filter it. Suppose I have data for NSW and Victoria Payment . Then on map i draw polygons(with different dataset like parking meters) on map with payment values and I want to filter ,such that if i use NSW i see only data + polygon for NSW
Hi Khushboo, You only require to upload a shapefile with parking meter polygons and a Parking Meter ID. The data relating to the polygons will be in your Power BI data tables. I hope this helps.
Hi Rin, I'm not familiar with US postcodes. However, assuming you have a shapefile of US Postcode boundaries then, the process is the same. Let me know if you have any difficulties and I can step you through the process.
@@stevedoherty6649 Hi Steve, yes so basically I'm trying to make a choropleth map based on the zip code. I can successfully do the similar thing for the states and the cities, but for the zip code, it does not work and I've tried the steps of both your video and the official instruction. Maybe it is because the shapefile for the zip code is too large (over 150 MB)? Here is my shapefile: studio.mapbox.com/tilesets/xchen0326.4wxth9x4/ Thank you!
@@linyerin Simplifying the shapefile may improve the speed of rendering in Power BI. You can simplify the file here mapshaper.org/, reduce the map complexity to 20% to see if there is any improvement. The other issue is the sheer number of postcodes being rendered when you are drilling down may be exceeding the Power BI row limit. To Test this, identify a State, City drill down path where there are a relatively low number of postcodes (i'd suggest
@@leper6253 Hi, I reduced the complexity to 15 MB but the map still does not show up, so I want to try the drill-down stuff. I'm new to Power BI, so may I ask how to make it work? I did some youtube search, and most of the videos talked about hierarchy. Are these two the same thing?
Perfect !
I know mapbox visual but it's some kind of hard to use. There are many many properties. Thanks a lot for description
You are welcome.
Thanks so much for me. This is very helpful and it saved me lots of time. I am very grateful indeed.
Thank you for the video!
...from Brazil!
Thank you. That was very well explained and helpful.
Great video, thanks :) Just wondering, how does the visual know which shapes in Layer 2 falls within each of the States on Leve1 1?
