    I just got mine and did the same test today walking my dog through the woods. What I noticed, and I see this with your video too, is that it seems to head *towards* the trees briefly and then move away at the right moment, in other words, it seems to anchor its direction on the fixed object in its path and then avoid it. If that's correct, it's interesting, meaning the drone is using the fixed obstacles as way points, if you will, between the moving target and itself. I guess that makes sense from a strategy perspective. I have several shots of the drone approaching a tree and then sliding left or right at the last minute. That said, I'm not sure why it wouldn't steer a more efficient course, unless the processing is just too intensive at this time. Thanks for the video.

    • @dieselwilliams
      @dieselwilliams  Рік тому +1

      First thank you for watching. Yes I know what you mean. I am guessing it is trying to select the most open bath at the time. As some have commented it would be great if they had a follow the RC through the GPS connection so that it would still find and follow you if the visual connection is lost. Maybe in the new future we will see this.

    • @dieselwilliams

      I tested active track along the top of Hero Trail in Bright, VIC. It was the wrong time of day, as I had really bad glare (and no filter). But, the M3Pro does lose you pretty quickly if you are at any moderate pace. Even if you manually follow to override any delay with active track. Also, any sharp turns and if you’re going that bit too quick, you will lose active track.

    • @dieselwilliams
      @dieselwilliams  Рік тому

      Yes just did shoot one on a trail a little more open then that one and you can go a lot faster.

    The tracking is amazing. I have thought though that if there was a tag on could wear that essentially broadcasts to the drone live the route to go exactly where you yourself go would be absolutely cool because then it wouldn't need to compute all the tracking and just fly the route whilst tracking the subject on the gimbal.

    • @dieselwilliams

    I have used the active tracking feature on my mini 3 pro several times I have videos on my channel. But it has been absolutely flawless. I noticed the only time that it lost visual of you was when it was behind the tree as you made a sharp left turn. But the area that you were in was a very difficult test and I would have to give it an A plus for that it did absolutely amazing in those tight spaces. I couldn’t have flown it manually through that environment and I have been flying for a long time lol but it did really well great video I will subscribe to your channel.

    I find that hard to believe. I have the same drone and my would lose tracking not to mention couldn’t avoid and fly like that for sure. Need to see another camera capturing you and the drone following you. Skydio may be able to do that but DJI def cannot do. ?

      Nope. Don’t own any other drones and definitely did not have a friend running behind me and climbing trees to get the elevation 😉 Maybe play with your settings and may sure you have good lighting.

    I had mine hovering over water getting ready to fly it along the creek and it ended up drifting sideways into leaves (some very gusty winds). Briefly hung up in the tree and I thought it was done for but it recovered and got away.
    Not a test I'd recommend.

    Would it still avoid trees if you were going faster than 3mph?

    • @dieselwilliams
      @dieselwilliams  Рік тому

      It sure does on the open trails you get over there up to around 27mph. This is an example of trails that your bike only just fits through the trees. If you try doing it even at that speed in manual flight you would crash. Or have a go and send me a link I would love to see it mate.

    So the most important question of them all, WHERE did you put your controller so it wouldn't press against the buttons and flying sticks??? Did you find a lockout mode to disable the screen and buttons and flying sticks?

    • @dieselwilliams
      @dieselwilliams  2 роки тому

      😂 great question.
      I had a controller Lanyard under the front of my shirt. It worked great that day but on my last video when riding over the dam wall my shirt pushed the button down moving the drone closer to a fence.
      So yes yet to find a good solution for this. I guess I will look for a solid handle bar holder if I can find one.

      @@dieselwilliams lol i see. I've come up with an idea. I'm waiting for my mini 3 pro to arrive. Once it gets here I'll measure the controller and design a internally ribbed box that will isolate the controller from the walls inside the box while it is inside. Then I can put the controller inside and into my backpack when riding mountain bike. I'll be printing the box with my 3d printer. Can share the design with you once I've come up with the final version if you are interested. Cheers!

      @@johnmtb5888 just make sure you can get to it easy. I have seen on UA-cam before a design handle bar holder for the Mini 3 controller but they said it did not feel very strong. Maybe there are better ones out there now.

      @@johnmtb5888 I think if I get a Mount I would only be using it in low speed situations anyways. I have a small Heavy duty case for it whilst I am riding. Plus again it’s insured through DJI anyways 😉

    If you ride full-speed on a treeless trail, can the drone keep up closely?

    • @dieselwilliams
      @dieselwilliams  9 місяців тому

      I believe it will keep up to speeds of like 40KMPH . The active track does have a minimum distance it will stay away from the target.

    Diesel, Thanks for the video. I'm curious... where is the Remote controller (RC)? Did you place it in your backpack while flying? How do you keep the joysticks from being active or hit while the RC is in the backpack? As soon as I place the RC in my backpack, the drone crashes once something touches the joysticks. Can't find anyone discussing this part of using the tracking while biking alone. Appreciate any feedback you can share with me!

      Thanks for the view! No was using a lanyard on that ride and had the controller under my shirt 😂. Only one time the drone moved because my shirt moved the controller arm. I am currently testing 3 different kinds of handle bar holders so will do a video on it once I get the time.

      It does have rear sensors but yes it does not work as well because it does not know what direction you intend to go. On a straight trail it will work long enough to get a quick shot.
