- Being a player on the Web.com Tour means facing competition similar to the PGA Tour, but with the budget of a college kid. An atmosphere like this can create some great bonds, which is why we tagged along with Jonathan Randolph during a tournament in Utah. He guided us through a standard day on the tour which involved a game of catch, fly fishing, plus some golf.

I don’t think people realize how hard it is to get to even this level
Hack To Scratch Golf no real golfers realize this
of course we do.
Only people who have ever played golf understand. Lol
Bout as hard as it would be to get to the minor leagues in baseball I would imagine, very tough.
There are thousands of golfers worldwide doing this. These guys are just the very best of club golfers
Well.... no more sleeping on the floor for Jonathan! He made over $500,000 since January.
Bar Shakespeare good for him, seems like a nice guy
Glad tidings indeed but allow taxes... the government wants half of that, expenses, I would imagine some debt. Staying is the hard part.
@@hugh-johnfleming289 The government wont take half of that.
Sev3r333 I’m pretty sure 40% is standard for income tax. Then if you include state taxes it averages to 50%
@@MrAbcdefgbarney lets say he makes 500k-1 million this year, he would pay 22.6% in taxes
“Heads up, Beaver incoming!”
Aaaaand that’s how all of Tiger’s troubles began.
A giraffe wouldn't beat you but a tiger wood
This should be top comment for sure
What I really want to see is a story about professional fishermen golfing.
You win with that comment.
LMAO
Thought this dude was Patrick Reed for a sec
Dude's too likeable to be Patrick Reed
@@mattlittlej that's what I was gonna say.. I like this Jon guy, hope he makes it. Reed pretty much made his bed after his Master's win, acting like he was the next Woods or Nicklaus saying how great it was to be "back in the winner's circle". People don't like arrogance, but they REALLY don't like it when you act like you're a superstar after getting lucky.
@@bobcobb158 not to mention the whole cheating thing
Crazy to see now that Joel is on the tour, these guys go through alot to get to the top
There's a bear down here...........He's usually cool LOL
Welcome to Utah.
"He doesn't rub you the wrong way"
"STOP" - Jonathan
haha I bet that was about to go a different direction
Joel dahmens a solid PGAer now
thank you for these Vice, love finding put about the world of golf beyond the PGA
the golfing part was sick
This is pretty much the same across all minor pro sports, as far as I can tell. I remember the same atmosphere around all the minor league hockey tryouts and camps I went to. Everyone's in the same boat just grinding and hoping for an opportunity.
"I think I hit that thing 290 or 250" thats a large gap lmao
Depends on off the tee or in rough, wind, shot shape, and slope.
Tee vs Deck
Lol most guys say 240-250-260...
omg fly fishing, friends, and golf!? i would be happy to stay in the minor and not go to the tour
Lowcountry Adventures i believe the pga tour is the same way as well for many players, lots of friendship. Some of them even take vacations together.
POSSIBLY making 60k a year vs. 600k to well over a million a year and you would want to stay on the lesser tour if you had the choice?
Lowcountry Adventures v
You're kidding right?!! Average net worth of pga tour players is $10m
But money
Anyone notice how he casually stuffed 4 hats into that bag
Keep doing more golf vids, there really cool
Joel Dahmen did actually make it to the tour, he was on the Fore Play Scramble vs.
yeah he’s from my hometown!
I'd hate having to deal with them tbh. everyone fist bumping each other and shit.. when deep down everyone hates you.
Do you think they have a good camaraderie??
one of my high school friends plays on the web.com tour. He's unreal at golf. He beat Brandt Snedeker in a playoff to win a tournament when he was 22 and got his card for a couple years. Then he broke his ribs and hasn't been back since. He has the same career best pro round as tiger with a 61, but hasn't even made a million dollars in 15 years of professional golf. He'll finish top 20 in a tournament and take home a smaller paycheck than if he sold used cars for a living. Some months he'll play 2-3 tournaments and miss every cut. He's 37, has a family, and it's starting to wear on him. Every year he says he's retiring.
This isn’t true
I'll be right on tour with you guys as soon as I knock off 30 strokes from my hot game.
Per 9?
🏌"I hit that thing like 290 or 250"👀....
LOL
Tee vs Deck
😂😂
Golf is life, like I've said before the Grind, The friends, but I want to show it from a different side--I know you see this all the time (White Guys playing golf) I've been a Caddie for more than 15+ years in the ChicagoLand area at C&C recently went to Cali and caddied so I know a thing about this Sport. I want to show the "Black side" of Golf, I'm not trying to divide us but I know people or I hope people want to see Black guys or kids that play Golf, or see what we think of the game. I want to show that trough Film, now I don't shoot low YET but I know I have great stories to tell--I just need help in this process.. I'm now trying to empower myself in away that I can show the world but, it's going to take sometime in the next 3yrs look out for me...
Lamp Deziluchi get it done man, your stories won't divide, it may get more diversity on the course and who doesn't love a sport that will bring us all together! I can't imagine a better place to make friends, with nice landscape and a beer or two in hand.
Lamp Deziluchi where did u caddy in Chicago land area, I'm at westmoreland
O.f.c.c..
I'd watch it! I totally get what you're saying. It's a side to the story the world should see!
You got my support from TX man! I love spreading the “gospel” of golf to people of all backgrounds!
Love these videos, you get to know what really happens behind the glitz and $$$$$ of main stream sport, keep it up
Reading the comments always weirds me out, this is an overall positive video and he even made the PGA tour, can’t understand people hating on lifestyle and the fact they go fishing....
Jealousy, perhaps ?
I feel like Patrick Reed is this guys evil twin
Damn I didn’t realize Joel dahmen was on this episode lmao
Looks like a pretty sweet life to me
Most of these guys are broke ....
really?
It's because you watched a 6 minute video where they took 3 golf shots. Have you ever been an athlete Will Orr? If so, on a borderline professional level? Don't answer; I know the answer based on your comment.
@@CwBDaveis.716 I gotta agree with Dillon my guy. Will pretty much just summed up the gist of the video or at least the intent. You should be upset at the portrayal of what you think the life of a borderline professional level athlete that the video made out and not some random youtube comment. I mean, did you even watch the thing. It was a professional athlete describing how they live a pretty sweet life. I just can't stop typing by how taken aback I am by your stupidity.
I play baseball and golf and this man has a a2k which is a $359 baseball glove for just catching
I thought the dude from Callaway handing out headcovers was Jim Furyk when I first saw him.... Haha when he said there is a beaver swuming down stream I was hoping to see Lexi Thompson floating by....
i like that he earned his card - not a sad scene
I wouldn't mind this
Joel Dahmen making an appearance
Jonathan R. (main guy in this vid) seems like the kid who tries making friends first day of school but everyone don't know what to think of him (I'm sure it's not like that though lol).
why don't they just play the Waterbury open to get to the tour. First place at Waterbury gives you an invite to the pro tour.
I was hoping to see shooter smoking a cigar in the background somewhere...
5:09 captions "he's never gonna let me here the end of that"
How does someone get a job writing captions if they don't know the difference between "here" and "hear"??
I here ya there, man.
"Hey guys, come meet my friends at Golf Camp!"
You could make this a weekly tv show!
What I would give to try this for a few years. I'm getting a little older now so probably no chance. What a lifestyle it must be. I would have loved to give it a go
This would be awesome for a young guy right out of college. To just travel around playing golf with the potential of earning a PGA Tour card would be great.
Great to see him play in the us open
The more I watch videos like these, the more I am convinced that golf is not meant to be played for a living.
Web.com tour certainly isn't a horrible way to make your money. Lot of dudes make $100k a year, and it's so laid back. It is truly where you can enjoy the game of golf and balance the other things in life. Once you make the PGA tour, it seems like the pressure quadruples!
Six minutes is way too short man. You could do a whole docu series on minor league golf.
I think I just saw Bobby from Cougar Town...
intresting absolutely cant wait to have my chance out there
Love that course.
if i hear camaraderie one more time 😂
All the Very best GOLFERS are LONERS. It's the nature of the sport.
John Clark Bubba Watson?
Can you please explain? I'm interested as to why you say that :)
DVNKNG Practising so much, not much time for socialising, everything is golf basically
Well said.
I wish I could work my way to the Web.com Tour but I have no money and stuck in the military.
This guy made $15000 in January this year and lives on a budget of a college kid?
He's going to retire pretty well off I'd say, haha.
+Jean Nel they're cheap as fuck, plus they have to pay for travel, and caddie/coaching fees
Doesn't matter how much you make in a given month you never know when the next check is coming...
These guys only need to make a cut and then they already get about between $2000-5000 and times that by 3 times a month... Most average pro golfers do make a lot of cuts these days and that is way above average income for anyone anywhere
So when you looked up the 15k did you notice that was the first time he received a check in 3 months? That he missed 3 consecutive cuts after the previous payday? The point is you never know when your swing will give out on you and you cant spend lavishly when the future is uncertain. Plenty of examples in golf, even former household names
damn makes me want to go in the minor leagues. looks like a a lot of golf and fishing lol(i know its hard work)
What's the average handicap of web.com vs. PGA?
Pretty much the same. Pro golfers don’t have handicap and most turn pro with like a +5 handicap index.
S/O to Jonathan for balling out at the US Open
No laying up was here!
Try challenger level tennis
prefessional baseball players play golf in their free time, professional golf players fish
He claims to be living cheap yet he has a 360 dollar baseball glove
I have one too even though I'm poor as dirt. I just got it from my parents in high school, could be the case for him as well
All this effort researching, travelling with equipment, filming so much footage, editing and doing all the graphics etc....all that for a 6 min video?
patrick reed 2
No I mean I get SSI
"He is usually cool"🤣
Cool video, most people think all golfers are living the life of luxury.
Well the ones who they show on TV make a decent wage for a few people combined. Minor League of any sport a few people combined make a decent wage.
He's like another version of Patrick reed just a bit fatter
I thought it was Reed to start XD
Chachi Time wonder if he's a cheater too
still real fucking good
3:43 .....Rizzle
0:36 Didnt he win The Masters this year?
no Patrick aka Fatrick aka Capt. America Reed
Good on him.
Putting Is the equalizer
I'm so old I remember when this was the nike tour lol
This isn't the new Nike Tour (Korn Ferry now), it's the one below that call Swing Thought. Used to be called Hooters.
I know it's rough out there, but fishing for their dinner?
Thy Wish they are loaded. Winner gets half a million on the web
Looks like a lot of fun
why no locker rooms?? WTF..
Rich boi living..
Awesome video 👍
This is great
That’s the life. Wish I could play to that level. Only thing missing are the ladies.
There's a bear down here. He's usually cool.....
except for last time.
Just as long as I can run faster than you its all good. By the way, nice waders.
life on tour: 1/3 of vid is fishing...
the dudes that win arent out fly fishing or playing catch...just sayin
but the dude in the video literally got his pga card at the end of this season...
JOEL DAHMEN lol
I have $400 dollar clubs but a fucking 4 dollar swing
I basically ussd to be a cadie onna amateur
What about the golf
how much money do these guys make?
If I was on one of these minor tours I would dedicate my entire life to making it on the PGA Tour. I would not be fishing, and messing around. I know these guys take it serious, but for me every waking hour would be devoted to making it. So after a round when they go fishing or something, I would be working out, doing what I can to prepare myself both mentally and physically for the rigors of professional golf.
jakethemuss3 then you would be bored and sick of the game after a short time, you need time to switch off and enjoy life. The top players all do it
Alright hardass
Sounds like a great way to burn out and get sick of the sport, especially if things aren't going well
Lmao it's funny because golf isn't really like that. All of these guys are already insanely skilled. It's mental game that will carry them to the tour, not practice hours.
Point taken; but life balance is important.
1:30 did he just put ketchup on eggs...?
Hunter Samson yeah.. it's pretty good you should try it
There’s a bear down here, but it’s OK he’s cool
Nice
So best life ever, then? Got it, thanks.
Can’t believe guys are still wearing white belts
I thought the Korn Ferry was the minor league?
All these guys are total beauties
No pension...always on the road away from wife kids etc. Not sure if a pay cheque is coming this month or next....a lot of pressure on these guys. They don't get multi million dollar contracts like guys on pga
You lost me when you put ketchup on your eggs.
A black guy as a fishing guide in Utah ... I've done seen it all
hello world. that was a black fly fishing guide. America is the greatest country that there ever was and that you could ever imagine.
what an awesome lifestyle!
& then you win a masters.
Less personality more golf.
Yeah, be a bland human being and play golf. That's what life's all about.
Please, go be a stiff somewhere else.
