0:47 that's not accurate, the general said ""If our German neighbors decide to visit us again, we will give them a more warm welcome" (i.e. a better welcome than the 1870 Franco-Prussian war)
The m1897 75mm was revolutionary and excellent field gun. A shortage of HE shells hampered it early war, and it's caliber was too small for heavy fortifications late war, but as an infantry support and suppression weapon it was excellent.
well they did end up picking up a fair number of 1911 Schneider 105s once War One started, because 105mm high explosive is much more frightening to a man in a trench than 75mm, but the this gun did get a mixed drink containing champagne named after it. Schneider of course had got a connections based contract just prior to the Franco-Prussian War in 1871 for smoothbore bronze guns similar to American Civil War Napoleons, and the decisive edge the Prussians had in armament in that war was their breach-loading Krupp rifled artillery, though in the 1870s, the metallurgy did sometimes still cause the occasional gun to burst at the breach. The French had a current rifle with about double the range, the critical ingredient being rubber from the colony of Indo-China. Prussian riflemen also often fired from the hip as firing from the shoulder with a nadelgewehr - by that point a thirty year old small arm - would spray an infantryman's face with grease from the breach.

They should keep this magnificent cannon until WW1.
They did
also this canon is the basis for the 75 mm of sherman, chosen sibce its reliability to launch bith armor piercibg round and high explosives
Just today I saw the whole movie, and it was interesting!!
0:46 That did not end very well
