Tim was in my opinion the John Madden of baseball. I always enjoyed the expertise and history Tim would share and explain in his broadcasting days. It’s what got me to learn a bit more of the game of baseball and of course, it’s why I enjoy it today. Rest in peace Tim
It was a great good bye that Tim saw the Cardinals in that World Series. I am sure he had memories throughout the series. With his passing, he is definitely an underrated analyst.
That was me. He'd often start the game with a slight lean, baseball diamond somewhere in the background over his shoulder, jacket off, with a beckoning look to come on down and get comfortable. Let's enjoy this game together. RIP, Tim.
I learned a lot from this brilliant man just being a broadcast, Tim is a very good at commenting and explaining the game so well for any one to understand..I will miss him very much surely! Thank you!!
Those are the years that Joe Buck and Tim McCarver both broadcast 1996: Yankees over Braves 1998: Yankees over Padres 2000: Yankees over Mets 2001: Diamondbacks over Yankees 2002: Angels over Giants 2003: Marlins over Yankees 2004: Red Sox over Cardinals 2005: White Sox over Astros 2006: Cardinals over Tigers 2007: Red Sox over Rockies 2008: Phillies over Rays 2009: Yankees over Phillies 2010: Giants over Rangers 2011: Cardinals over Rangers 2012: Giants over Tigers 2013: Red Sox over Cardinals
Every broadcast I ever listened to that Tim McCarver was in the booth I learned something. And what a Catcher!!! He was instrumental in beating my NY Yankees in the '64 World Series and he was only 22 years if I'm not mistaken. And anyone who caught two of the greatest pitchers ever, Steve Carlton & Bob Gibson, makes him a genuine baseball great. RIP Tim McCarver 🇺🇲⚾️
I learned a lot from Tim and I mean really a lot just from his broadcast with Joe buck..I felt like these two together were like the voices of baseball playoffs and I'm glad to live to hear them broadcast live...thank you so much
Both Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are both vastly underrated and underappreciated. You'll see when they put his replacement it the booth just how good he was. As far as Joe Buck, he's the closest thing we have to a modern day Pat Summerall in my book.
I guess we must be looking for different qualities in our broadcast. I want a professional who can relay what the players/managers are thinking as far as their thought process and someone who calls the game who isn't in there because he/she has a catchphrase coughDickVitalecough. Both Joe Buck and Tim McCarver were the sound of modern day October baseball. McCarver will be missed.
Hey, I like listening to Al Michaels do a game. It sounds like you got it in for Joe Buck for not being Jack Buck. Just saying....! Verne Lundquist is another one of my absolute favorites as well.
Tim McCarver is The Absolute Best Baseball color man the game has ever had. It will be very tough for Fox network to find someone to replace Tim and give the same professionalism, knowledge, and honesty that Tim provides. Thanks Tim, from a fan that lives in the New York area, who got the chance to listen to you do Met and Yankee games. Happy retirement! Be well, Be blessed!
I always appreciated Tim's knowledge, although I know a lot of people maybe did not, especially people with a younger attitude, who don't appreciate the past and how it helps them learn about the present and the future. Thanks Mr. McCarver, for what you taught us, for your great sense of humor and for the rest of all you did! ❤
mccarver could always deliver the drama. his statements could send chills or make you think over and over about something . think maybe about someone who isn't a very avid baseball or who likes the playoffs on fox and watches. mccarver is the perfect analyst to explain and warm them up to the game. very tough to replace..... you'll see.
Tim McCarver's voice just made you know it was a big game... his voice will forever be ingrained in my head as a 10 year old Red Sox fan in 2004 staying up too late to watch history.
So very lucky I was able to enjoy baseball with you, even if it was for just a bit of time. Thank you Timmy God bless your soul, and may you enjoy the kingdom of heaven. 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Very emotional. The greatest World Series analyst is gone. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Tim, I have enjoyed listening to you over the years. You shared a touching video after the final game of the World Series, and yes, your experience and insight have taught me and surely many others more about baseball. Enjoy your retirement and good luck!
William Milligan Joe Buck is not as bad as I know a lot of people think he is, but I will say I do think McCarver was better matched with the ABC crew in the '80's with Al Michaels and Jim Palmer than he was with Buck. It was just more natural, the three just had better chemistry, there was nothing forced about it--you always knew there was no other place those three wanted to be.
I've noticed over the years the same thing. Big market teams, especially east coast teams, get 'blown.' The smaller market teams get referred to as if they're a AAA club. Good call.
Tim was a thinking man's player who carried it over to his broadcasting career. He could make the most boring of games seem interesting. His knowledge of the subtle nuances of the game made me feel smarter every time I watched a Mets game. Thank you Mr. McCarver, you will be missed.
Tim was a class act and by the way a very good Major League Catcher (hit a Grand Slam on July 4th 1976 just happen to always remember that). Oh course many folks (younger) may not remember that Tim being a Cardinal from way back knew Joe's Father Jack Buck very well so he literally has known Joe Buck since he was born. I think that is pretty cool. God's Speed Tim McCarver may you rest in peace God Bless
Unlike some people, I personally enjoyed listening to Tim McCarver, and didn't have much of an issue with his commentating. He didn't exactly SOUND like the most literate person when it came to analysis, but he knew enough to give an insight. He also seems like a nice guy who is sincere, and I don't think anyone who seems nice deserves that kind of hatred. So while I'm interested to hear his replacement, it will be strange not hearing his voice along with Buck's during the World Series.
He was on the Phillies inthe 1980, Phillies world series team, and he was also on the Philadelphia tv broadcasting post game show that went on a While. He was broadcasting when he was still in uniform. I think that's where he got the taste of broadcasting. He did really well with Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn. He said that him and Steve Carlton would be buried 60 feet and 6 inches away from each other. They won a world series in stl together in 1969, then they both get traded to Philly and start in 72 bad, but Carlton goes like 27-3 on a 53 win team. They call up Schmidt trade for rose and win a world series in Philly together. Rip I will miss the insight. Only true baseball fans can understand the little things you said. As in all sports
Baseball have never been as enjoyable since Tim retired! Tim and Joe were my favorites! Joe Buck is absolutely the best today no matter what sport he commentates! Love him with Troy Akeman!
And that was a DISASTER. Even FOX, the network that has long tolerated Joe Buck for 20+ years (even at some points where I, a Buck defender, could not defend him) evidently knew that the booth of Verducci and ESPECIALLY Reynolds was a top-to-bottom shitshow and pulled the plug 2 years in.
Anton Films Reynolds was mediocre Smoltz is so much better. I get where they were coming from, as Reynolds was one of the best analysts in the game when he was a studio analyst at ESPN, and he had been doing Fox’s studio show for 2 years prior to the promotion, and had also been on the MLBN for the previous 5 years. However it turned out that his skill set just worked so much better in the studio than the booth. I like Verducci he still does some games for them, although he’s not on the #1 crew anymore.
+Aaron Springborn You're delusional if you actually think Joe Buck is the best broadcaster of all time. There needs to be a correction: he's the WORST broadcaster of all time! You should have your hearing checked, Aaron.
Ohhh man rest in peace Tim. You’ll greatly be missed 😢
You are a real man, Deion! You are a real man!
Tim was in my opinion the John Madden of baseball. I always enjoyed the expertise and history Tim would share and explain in his broadcasting days. It’s what got me to learn a bit more of the game of baseball and of course, it’s why I enjoy it today. Rest in peace Tim
John Madden NFL, Tim McCarver MLB, & Hubie Brown NBA. The three best color commentators in their sports.
@@Blacklist324 too bad Tim kept turning down those managerial offers. He would've made a good skip.
Rip Tim ! You were one of the best baseball announcers! 🙏⚾️😃❤️
Goodbye Tim! Many great moments called, so many memories. Rest in Peace
Great guy.watched him with Ralph kinder calling mets games WOR TV. In New York city .rest in peace.
It was a great good bye that Tim saw the Cardinals in that World Series. I am sure he had memories throughout the series. With his passing, he is definitely an underrated analyst.
I would watch Tim McCarver broadcast a game, even if I didn’t like the teams. He always made it interesting and very knowledgeable..
That was me. He'd often start the game with a slight lean, baseball diamond somewhere in the background over his shoulder, jacket off, with a beckoning look to come on down and get comfortable. Let's enjoy this game together. RIP, Tim.
My entire life, I have listened to Tim call games. He will be missed greatly
Tim McCarver now works part time on Fox Sports Midwest for The Cardinals
RIP, Tim McCarver. This man was my entire childhood 😭
I learned a lot from this brilliant man just being a broadcast, Tim is a very good at commenting and explaining the game so well for any one to understand..I will miss him very much surely! Thank you!!
I was still hoping he would make one more appearance calling a game. Somewhere. Anywhere. RIP, Tim, and thank you.

RIP Tim! One of the greatest voices in sports history!
R.I.P. Tim thank you for all the great met moments you brought all us fans. You were my old mans favorite. 💔
God I love Tim McCarver...the man just knew and loved and respected the game so much...and made Mets games worth watching when we were awful
Me too man.

He's not bad. I'd take him over Ian Eagle. That's just me. Where do you fall on Brent Musberger & Herby?
Buck is underrated. McCarver is annoying.
Tracy Wolfson and Allie LaForce may be CBS Sports' most popular tandem, but they're no Joe and Tim!
Tim McCarver was one of my favorite baseball announcers! =)
I love this man. I'm still in tears.
Tim is a Guinness and I actually learned a lot just from his broadcast...gonna miss him so much
rest in peace tim. you will be dearly missed. 😞💔🙏🏻
I can't think of who they can get to replace this guy. #legend

Tim was a no BS guy...a really good and knowledgeable catcher and hitter...and imho, a great announcer.
i grow up listening to mcarver in the 90s
Tim McCarver was one of the best to ever call the game, great pairing with Joe Buck!
William Milligan Joe Buck is not as bad as I know a lot of people think he is, but I will say I do think McCarver was better matched with the ABC crew in the '80's with Al Michaels and Jim Palmer than he was with Buck. Best wishes, Tim!
Rest In Peace Tim! "May The Perpetual Light Shine Upon You" Kirkwood, Missouri STL
Always loved him.
Rip Tim. Best announcer
YOU'RE A REAL MAN DEION, I WILL SAY THAT.
Joe Buck and now Tony Romo are my favs

The World Series hasnt been the same without Tim. Please come back just for one game.
Best of luck Tim. Keep up the good work Joe!
Billy Moody he’s the worst
RIP! Say hi to Vin for all of us!
He was the first announcer that never shut up and ever since it's pretty much everybody.
He was on the Phillies inthe 1980, Phillies world series team, and he was also on the Philadelphia tv broadcasting post game show that went on a While. Joe buck should be the superbowl commentator
Baseball have never been as enjoyable since Tim retired! Tim and Joe were my favorites! Joe Buck is absolutely the best today no matter what sport he commentates! Love him with Troy Akeman!
His replacements will be Tom Verducci, who moves up from FOX's #3 broadcast team, and Harold Reynolds, who moves up from FOX's pregame show.
This one hurt. legend.
Thank you Tim and RIP!! Red Sox nation will miss you.
Joe Buck was suppose to say "no homo" after that speech
Rest in peace, Tim.
goodbye Mr. McCarver you will be missed :( p.s. we will all miss you so much :( !!!!
I cried when I saw this
Tears of joy?
Joe Buck: You are the best broadcaster of all time. You are the guy I look up to.
+Aaron Springborn You're delusional if you actually think Joe Buck is the best broadcaster of all time. There needs to be a correction: he's the WORST broadcaster of all time! You should have your hearing checked, Aaron.
