My second transcription of the great Johnny Costa! I wanted to clarify to those who think that I use software to transcribe- I transcribe entirely by ear with no help from software, mainly because with the complexity of these arrangements, software is unhelpful.
There are two chances to win the PDF today, only answer one of these questions:

Mr. Roger's Neighborhood
2. Debbie Costa Ellwood
Yeah, he was the musical director for "Mr Roger's Neighborhood" (as @ernetslewisjr/2003 already said) but I know (1) before his time with Fred Rogers he was musical director for a few ither lesser know shows and then he played piano (as house pianist) for a small station called WDTV - and (2) Debbie Elwood is my guess of daughter he composed for 🤷🏻♂
Mister Roger's Neighborhood
Johnny Costa is one of my favorite piano players, completely underrated, still totally worthy of the name "White Tatum". He was the musical director for Mr Rogers Neighborhood and he wrote a piece for his daughter Debbie, I have a lot of his albums and if I'm correct the piece is titled "For Debbie" (not to be mistaken with "Waltz for Debbie by Bill Evans") and this piece was included in the "Flying Fingers" album.
After listening to this, I feel like we're definitely NOT in Mr. Roger's Neighborhood anymore!
Bro I just started transcribing this last week privately the way he moves the voicings around so much along the melody is so interesting, also been a huge fan of costa for years , I found it really hard to transcribe some of his crazier runs like the ones in Won’t You Be My Neighbor with 2 hands going opposite directions. on this same album too. But at least 4 of his albums are not available on UA-cam all are on vinyl locked away in peoples shelves or old record stores I noticed they also took down the other recording of “It’s Such A Good Feeling” on the live tv show with Mr Rogers and Jane also I know this is your second transcription of Costa Which is truly Incredible feat. There is almost no other true transcriptions done of this beautiful soulful music Johnny left us with
Another mega-monster pianist I never even knew existed. Damn; this is one of those "can't be human" players.
And as for transcribing it, man, and I mean this as a compliment; you must love pain 😉, this thing is wild.
Costa, by far, was one of the game-changers in jazz piano-also a technique guru.
Thank you for allowing me to musically see what took place during this performance.
For you to transcribe this by ear is almost super human as is the guy who is playing it. Well done Timothy 👏👏
Johnny costa is the most underappreciated jazz pianist; change my mind.

Make videos about your transcription process. What do you hear? Chord qualities? Individual notes? Do you do it relatively quickly or is it painstakingly tedious? What is this sorcery if it ain’t software?
