- My very first try at making home pizza from scratch using the new Big Horn Outdoors pellet-burning wood fire Pizza oven. At $148 at the time of this video, it is a no-brainer if you are a pizza lover.
Thank you!! I will be ordering the 16 inch oven soon. Looks so yum!
Thanks for watching!
Few things.. excellent video.. i had a great time watching it.. very detailed... nice pizzas.. those looked amazing.. and Sir.. you have a beautiful view from ur patio!!
Thanks for watching my friend!
I was wondering myself where the location was lol very nice!
Great video, beautiful view, too. Thanks for the time and effort in walking thru the steps!
I love your backyard and the view!
Looks good , thanks for your review. I will now purchase this as I cannot afford an Ooni. Lovely pizza , and lovely views from your garden !
Thanks for the review! I was looking at the Ooni Fyra until I found this unit.
Wow! That pizza looks great! I can’t wait to get my oven now.
Nice walkthrough (and a tasty-looking pizza)! My first attempt with the Big Horn didn't go as well - I didn't bother to weigh the pellets and the fire went out too fast! Anyway, looking forward to Round 2 now that I've seen this video. Cheers!
Bob:"I'm not good at making pizza, so..."
Me: "I disagree, what time can I pick up my order?" lol
Ha ha. I learned EVERYTHING on UA-cam. Now I have to learn how to stretch the dough. Believe it or not, that was the hardest part. That's why all the pizzas are misshapened in this video.
Holy cow! That view! oh, the pizza oven is cool too...
Nice video, thanks a lot for including some mistakes. I ordered my oven on eBay because of this video. Got my for $85. I want to tell you one thing, you have your pellet grill upside down inside of the pellet burning drawer. When looking at the closed tray, one should not see pellets. That is to provide air circulation to the pellet bed. I have since converted my to propane gas and it will reach temperatures of over 1000 degrees. The burner assembly just slides into the ash tray, so NO cutting or modifications are needed to oven. I can preheat my oven in about 15 to 20 minutes to a stone surface temperature of about 850 degrees when the setting is on low. Sure beats all the ash and clean-up. I get to spend more time with friends and guests instead of maintaining a pellet fire. I really don't taste the difference in the pizza for the wood smoke only touches the pizza for 90 to 120 seconds, much too short to infuse a deep smoke flavor. This is a great pizza oven. Unlike Ooni and Roccbox, the heat and fire are ducted up and over the pizza so that a fire shield which some people add is not required to keep the pizza from burning at the hot end of the oven. Thanks again for this video.
Ha ha. Thanks! I will check out my pellet grill next time I fire it up. Will also check out the propane setup. Where did you get it? Thanks for your comment!
Was it easy to convert it to propane?
@@Ladunn8 I got a 65,000 btu propane burner on Amazon along with the regulator. The mounting plate was fashioned out of 20 gauge stainless steel sheet metal and exactly replaces the ash tray. A diverter flame plate was inserted into the pellet tray opening to divert the gas flame into the fire duct and not up the pellet tube. Does not alter the oven and can be converted easily back to pellets. Works very well and gets hotter than my brother's Ooni Karu. I like that it is so hot that I don't have to cook with the front door on.
@@SilverShadow2LWB Thanks!
@@SilverShadow2LWB Did you fabricate some of that yourself? Or is there a specific kit you were able to find that actually was manufactured for this grill? I have one on the way and that sounds amazing. I'd love to be able to have the choice between fuel sources on it.
Love mine. I've cooked a lot in aside from pizza. Steak you name it. But use cast iron for those only pizza and breads on the stone.
that is the best gourmet pizza ever!!, great video and simply explained, thank you!
Thank you!
Just got mine a week ago! This is a great pizza oven that is very well made. Not to mention the price is a 1/3 of its competitors. I’ve cooked a total of 9 pizzas and couldn’t be happier. My only regret is not buying 2 of them
Yes. I love mine too. I was able to make great tasting pizza right from the beginning. This will be great for backyard pizza parties in the future. Thanks for watching!
Ok… if that’s your regret you still have a chance.. they have not disappeared from the market 🤣
I have a 21 lb turkey in the oven right now but this looks WAAAAY better! Buying one right now!
Ha ha. Turkey sounds pretty good too!
Thanks for review!
Great review from unboxing to eating
Just bought one myself and will follow your advice for pizza weekend this wknd
You will love it! Thanks for watching.
Looks like a dream come true!
Thanks for the review, your pizzas look great 👍
Thanks!
Pizza looks good
I can't wait I get mine on Monday thank you for the video
U won't be disappointed
I heard the introductory price was $99. That was a steal. Even at $148, it is/was a great deal. Congrats!
@@chadsadventures what should I put under it so my iron table won't get hot
@@rmwtsou I don't care I'm glad I got one
I just ordered one and am not digging what I see on a lot of these video's . Can't imagine that burnt pepperoni taste very good.
I am using mine for the first time now. This helped immensely. This is the honey badger of bighorn oven videos!
This is live comments Everything he said is working. My stack is smoking after the 450 grams. Creator, u don’t understand how the metal handle works that opens and closes the hopper and chute. Read the instructions for that. It hooks in kinda. But otherwise. Awesome video!
First pizza. Disaster. Make them small in this oven. Use lots of flour. Lots on all surfaces. Good luck. I blackened my stone with all the toppings that fell off trying to get it in the oven. Ugh. Good luck all. 2nd and 3rd pizzas were smaller and delish. Rotate often. Keep feeding the fire as well
Great review
Nice job with this review! Makes me want to get one!! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your review, I have several grills and wanted to add a pizza oven to my collection. After watching your video I know the one I will purchase. Thanks!
Can't go wrong if the price is the same.
@@rmwtsou just ordered from amazon. should be here next week. Can't wait. Thanks again for a great review!
@@inusmine I am sure you will like it. Congrats!
those pizzas look pretty tasty
That looks delicious! Great video.
Thanks for your videos, too, which inspired me to buy this oven.
Thank you very useful review.
Seems like a really good deal for the price what are your thoughts is it worth I'd say about a hundred sixty that's what it's at right now I'm willing to spend it if it's really worth? Does the pizza come out really good
That's a worthy endeavor.
Got to learn how to stretch pizza dough next.
Where did you get that metal spatula? trying to find one like it.
Looks good!
Very nice. Looks good.
Good review
That pizza looks fire 🔥 bro 🤤
What about the temperature of stone after 20 minutes?
Sounds like Silvester Stallone from rocky
Nice job I just bought one and I will use combo pellets an some charcoal
I like mine I have a few videos up of it also I got when. Was first out for 99 love it...great video bud
$99 was a steal. Even at $148, it is/was a great price. Thanks for watching!
@@rmwtsou hey buddy I have a update it's starting to rust at only 4 months it's not stainless steel it's a cheap metal ...there lyin
@@chadsadventures Stainless steel is attracted to magnets. Aluminum alloys won't.
great video great info would you buy it again know how it works? thank you
Sure would! Thanks for watching!
What's the average cost to use this just for one person for a quick pizza or two in the night? Is it practical for a single person's dinner, or no?
Less than $10. Yes, it is good for 1 - 2 people.
excellent video review. thank you for posting. subscribed to your channel sir
Thanks for watching my friend!
I just ordered my oven. If I don't have a blow torch, would it be ok to use a Weber lighter cube to get the pellets lit?
I don't see why that would be a problem.
@@rmwtsou Thanks! I figured since I already had the cubes for lighting a charcoal chimney, then it might also serve well for the pellet hopper. But wasn't sure if there was any contraindication with the Big Horn. I'm glad to have your video to help when I try the oven for the first time!
Is that pellet stove fuel ? Or stove chow made for health food eating ? Or the same stuff ppl use in a home pellet stove ?
Just food grade hardwood pellets for BBQ.
Wow
Can you also use this to smoky bibs?
You can use it to heat up ribs but to smoke them? I don't think so.
great video!! new sub
Thanks for watching!
I think the pellet tray is upside down.
No. It is supposed to be angled when placed in. Thanks.
good video except for the camera work. I think I need some Dramamine.
How wide of a pizza peel do you recommend for this oven?
Just a 12". No wider than the oven's opening.
@@rmwtsou Thank you, you sweet pizza making legend.
@@maksimgus Ha ha, thanks for watching my friend!
Does the oven put alot of heat out onto the table underneath?
No, it does not. But that's why I put some bricks between the table and the unit.
Your pellet tray is Installed improperly in the video. The tapered part should be sloping down into the tray so pellets are not coming out of the air vent
Ok. Thanks! I will change it next time.
Have you tried using hardwood or Charcoal as fuel?
No. Pellets work better and are cheap, clean-burning with no smoke or soot.
@@rmwtsou The reason I ask is that it seems like a pellet hog. For instance, if I plan to make say 10 pizzas I feel it might take a great number of pellets maybe 40lb. But I'm not sure it just seems that way.
@@gusc1120 For 10 pizzas, it might take 5 - 7 pounds of pellets. It will not take 40 pounds -- unless you just waste time between each pizza.
@@rmwtsou Nice! Thank you for the info. I bought the oven now because of your review and information. One last question. Do you have a link of the pellets you use? Thank you!
@@gusc1120 I just go to Home Depot or Walmart and buy the cheapest hardwood pellets I can find. It makes no difference the type of pellets used. More expensive is not better.
$89. on ebay!
Wow, great!
Anyone know a cover that would fit his pizza oven?
Answering my own question but for those who got this pizza oven, the uuni 3 cover fits it perfectly
Can you also use real wood instead of pellets?
No. That will defeat its purpose and make a mess.
broooo nooooo
Why would you spend the money on a pizza oven, make your own dough semi correct (you degassed it way too much), but you canned “pizza sauce”?
Because canned pizza sauce is better than anything I can make.
Looks like a piece of junk someone made $80 on (yes $4 cost is what I’m guessing). I bet it looks like $85 after 1-2 cooks. After 3 I bet it’s in the trash....No knock on you brother, it’s I just don’t like your oven. You seem like a real nice guy...
Sounding like a straight up derrrr
