  • The importance of unmanned systems in modern battlefields and defense operations is increasing day by day. This development, led by unmanned aerial vehicles, gains a new dimension with the addition of unmanned ground vehicles. This development, which started with the use of light class unmanned ground vehicles, accelerates with the addition of heavy class ground vehicles. These vehicles are used in dangerous missions where manpower is at risk and increase the effectiveness of military operations.
    Otokar, one of Turkey's leading defense industry companies, developed Turkey's first unique unmanned ground vehicle in the heavy class with its work. ALPAR, a heavy-class tracked unmanned ground vehicle, was announced for the first time last year. In the meantime, ALPAR's driving controls and algorithms have been improved. ALPAR has been given autonomous patrol and vehicle tracking functions, and 2D and 3D mapping features. Mobility tests of ALPAR, which has a serial hybrid power infrastructure, in road and off-road environments continue. The Remote Control Unit, through which the vehicle is controlled, is also being developed to facilitate user control, make it more effective and increase situational awareness.
    While these studies continue, ALPAR will be exhibited abroad for the first time at Eurosatory 2024, one of Europe's largest and one of the world's leading defense industry fairs. This promotion will be a big step for ALPAR to be introduced in the international arena and gain an important place in the defense industry.
    The ALPAR project was developed by Otokar with local and national resources. Equipped with advanced technological equipment, ALPAR draws attention with its high mobility, strong armor protection and advanced weapon systems. The project was initiated with the aim of demonstrating Turkey's competencies in the field of defense and reducing foreign dependency in this field.
    Otokar contributed to Turkey's defense industry ecosystem by collaborating with domestic suppliers during the development process of ALPAR. ALPAR is successfully tested in various difficult terrain conditions and operational scenarios.
    ALPAR shows high performance in all kinds of terrain conditions, thanks to its powerful engine that can carry heavy loads and its advanced suspension system. Remote control and autonomous operation capabilities enable ALPAR to perform dangerous tasks without risking human life.
    With its various weapon systems and missile platforms, ALPAR has an effective defense and attack capability against different threats. Equipped with various sensors, radar systems and communication devices, ALPAR operates with electronic systems that increase situational awareness and maximize operational effectiveness.
    ALPAR will be able to perform reconnaissance missions behind enemy lines and in dangerous areas.
    It will increase the effectiveness of logistics operations by being used to transport heavy loads and ammunition. Equipped with advanced weapon systems, the vehicle can be used directly in conflict zones. The vehicle, which has high deterrence, will enable the creation of safe corridors. Thanks to the unmanned operation capability, it will be possible for soldiers to carry out their duties without entering dangerous areas. The vehicle will maximize operational efficiency by demonstrating high durability and performance in long-term and challenging missions. It will provide cost-effective solutions by reducing maintenance and operation costs in the long term.
    ALPAR, which will be exhibited abroad for the first time at the Eurosatory 2024 fair, will make a significant contribution to Otokar's goals of increasing its competitiveness in the international market and representing the Turkish defense industry in the global arena. Otokar attaches great importance to this promotion, confident that ALPAR will attract attention with its innovative features and superior performance.
