This would be a great class to take. Love the ideas, no doubt happy cats. Unexpected Bonus feedback from the crows in the backround, they approve.

This would be nice to do but I am not a wood worker. I am really bad at reading a tape measure. I would rather pay to get a good stable cat tower then try and do it myself and have it all fail. I know I don't have that ability.

Only one way to learn! If you're bad at it get one that has fractions on it already. You can do it.
Woodworking is fun, and a great stress reliever.

What you don’t happen to have a wood shop in your garage?

For your carpet, you could have done the join in the middle of the post, then you could just butt the two edges together.

Great ideas for making the various components. Can’t wait to see them with cats on them 😊

Very cool! I'm planning on making one too. The circular beds looks fun to do, also want to try making the big exercise wheels...
No offense but you totally sound like Kevin Costner at times 😄 He's cool

Great explanations - I'm skipping the casters, as our cats are heavier and leap up and down...even locking casters will be taxed. We also need to weight the base to avoid tipping..could attach an anti-tip rope to wall or bracket to floor but painted drywall and hard wood floors need to be kept whole.

I’d probably just do a thicker base. Instead of one or two 3/4” sheets doubled up, do 3-4 and that should definitely keep it from tipping

Nice but I'd probably do 2 things differently.
1 i wouldn't use casters so having carpet on the bottom as to not scratch the floor.
2 i would use hannger bolts to the tree can be dismantled easier.
    Beside that good build.

What carpet did you use? Do you have a link?

Just a regular carpet from Home Depot. Don’t remember the color or brand.

Are you using treated 4x4?? Hope not.

Yes and I’ve researched it. It’s fine. Compared to other lumbers, pressure-treated wood is probably not the most eco-friendly choice. Although this lumber contains no arsenic, it still contains other chemicals such as copper and nonmetallic biocides. Though these chemicals pose no problems for humans, animals or plants when used in a residential setting, these chemicals can leach or drain away in the long-term. ACQ lumber leaches but is low in toxicity compared to CCA. More research needs to be done on the exact impact of small amounts of copper in the environment. Since 2003, treated wood is a lot safer.

With the curved bed, since you have so many cross pieces, why not just put the carpet on directly rather than trying to bend wood? The weight of a cat isn't enough to cause deflection.

Well you inspired me so that I am literally currently sitting in front of my own cat tree build :D Now I guarantee it's not gonna be nearly as well crafted as yours, but we'll see what we can do!
