After having a line 6 dl4 I feel like it can be similar to the brigadier. More exact and rigid but clear. The El cap more of a reverbish tone behind it. Smoother kind of melts
I have Dig; El Cap; and Brig on my live board and I find myself using Brig more than the other two combined. Depends on the music you are playing I suppose: we do lots of hits from 70's-90's.
I don't understand why people buy the expensive Brigadier while there are soooo many pretty sounding *real* BBD delays on the market to choose from...??
@@coldwar1977 because Strymon pedals take line level as well as guitar level. So you can use them with synths or as outbound gear without having to step down and then up again.
I already own the El Capistan. After watching this demonstration I don't think I'm gonna buy the Brigadier just because i think the Capistan can do everything the Brigadier can do and more. Thanks for the video.
They sound very different. I think Brigadier is a little more subtle and more what I’m looking for a delay on stage. They’re both excellent pedals and hopefully I’ll be able to get both! 😉
@ballo2323 The Brigadier doesent has a dedicated loop function but the el cap has something in the veins of a loop function (pleas check out my El Capistan -dirty lofi- video)
wow great videos... i watched the whole series "El Cap vs Brig" its excelent videos - very proffesional and informative... i almost always prefer El Cap... i prefer El Cap Tape Age because even on MAX it retains musicality and mood... the Brig Bucket Loss on MAX sound to me like distorted mess, harsh and unpleasant... but i understand some may prefer Brig for being more exact while El Cap may sound smeared or too wooly for some genres... Again the WOW&FLUTTER on El Cap is very musical and unobtrusive it kind of blends with the music... The Brig MOD is different effect all together... its way too "mechanical" in your face "LFOish", and it just overpowers everything... i dont see much use for Brig MOD for my music... its more of a VIBRATO...
@TheJasonTomczak You are right about the Brigadier but the El Capistan has something in the veins of a looper, more like super looooong repeats but you can set the lenght of the repeats by hitting a stomp and do PDS-8000 style looping while still beeing able to perfectly capture your phrase...
I am almost 100% sure that neither of these pedals have a loop function. That is more of a multi ffects unit deal, but these are more strictly delay machines.
Brigadier offers warm clearer delays, while the El Cap provides smoother delays. I love both but prefer the Brigadier

Wow. I don't understand why the el cap is so much more popular. The Brigadier is so much more pleasant and warm sounding to me. Very natural.

especially for a TB-303 the El Cap is good

when I had my Brig I preferred the El Cap to it, but it sounds great in your videos
Great demo, and great chords!
Which one is brighter before degradation control?

do you know if both pedals have loop function?
is it possible for you to compare the filter (brigadier) against the low end contour (El Cap)?
noooooo, i mean the secondary functions, which coincidentally are the same knob for the secondary function
el capistan is great by all standards for a delay. l mean they're both great boxes.. but the sound of tape dly has magic in itself.
Version one of these had mono input and click switches
which one would you say is more versatile
both ;)
I really like both, but I thought the modulation on the Brigadier had no real range. It went from nothing to intense way too fast.
he just did..

well el capistan does
El capistan is much better!!
