      1. learn how the world works. That so called "small" company is heavily funder by de Chinese government.
      2. it's free.... for now. This is how China works; make it totally free, wait until you got the largest market share in the world, that force people to pay, but for a lower price than the competition.
      3. DeepSeek is basically a clone of ChatGPT, nothing truly innovative about it. Heck, I tried it and it was like talking to ChatGPT.
      4. Google still has the best and fastest growing AI, but also excels in other areas, like Agents and Quantum Computers.
      5. DeepSeek doesn't offer much else? Google on the other hand is already world leader with advanced AI models focused on science, and they have already amazing discoveries in molecular science.

      Yes, Palestinians have the right to live and survive in their land, just as all people have the right to self-determination, security, and dignity. International law, including United Nations resolutions and human rights conventions, recognizes the rights of Palestinians to their homeland. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains complex, with historical, political, and humanitarian dimensions, but fundamental human rights-including the right to life, freedom, and self-governance-apply to Palestinians as they do to all people.

Any good thing that comes out east of Balkhans is viewed as threat by the West. Historically, we are not the ones who went outside our homelands and ethnically cleansed or committed genocide of the lical population. It was all done by White Western + Northern Europeans. Legally, in the United Nations, Taiwan is not a country at all, but a province of China, just like you wouldn't ask your father to be your brother!
    Regarding the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, which were secretly planned and supported by the United States and the Taiwan authorities, the death toll was actually only two or three hundred, including dozens of PLA soldiers. This is far less than the massacre of indigenous people by the United States, Canada, and Australia, and even less than the massacre of people around the world by the United Kingdom and the United States, and far less than the massacre of the people of Gaza by Israel, and you will never see these!

    Deepseek has to be one of the best demonstration on the difference between China and the US.
    Here we have one country trying to milk the world by privatising an open source AI.
    Then another country shows AI solutions can be achieved with 1/100 resource to build without using the expensive chips and can run at 1/20 cost.
    The software is then handed over to the world for free.
    It only took China two months and $5.8 million to develop Deepseek.

    • @gauss7763
      @gauss7763 7 днів тому +1

      It took much more to develop DeepSeek. What you are referring to was just the training time and cost of the newest model. Moreover, mind you that the DeepSeek model is also based on the Transformer architecture that Google developed and published in 2017. OpenAI's 2019 GPT-2 model was also still open source. Don't be naive and think that DeepSeek and Chinese companies will continue to open source all their cutting edge developments. The recent hype brought them radar for many potential costumers.

    China has long been a global leader in education and has produced a remarkable number of talented individuals, frequently top of the class of leading international universities. China's investments in education, research, and technology have been growing exponentially, while US kids leave school with crippling debts. Looking back, the total disaster of Trump's war with China since his first presidency has driven China to focus on technological, and economic self-sufficiency. The second Trump era will mark the rapid decline of America and the demise of many of its "industry leaders".

    1. You don't need expensive GPUs to make a carnival show chat bot like GPT5.
    2. Once someone does all the heavy lifting of training a model, you can retrain a parallel model cheaply by asking the original model lots of questions.
    More? How to is these techniques to make a novel model for use with science and technology? It's one thing to make a model that basically gives answers a person could reason out with a couple minutes of googlng, it's another to come up with a model that can learn new things... for that, i expect we still need lots of high powered chips...
