I'm just starting out, as well. I don't even have a website. So, I enjoy watching your journey. Thanks for sharing and being vulnerable. Whne you make and then look back at these videos, you will be even prouder of youself. Keep going!!!
Hi Robert! I too am an aspiring voiceover artist and I have absolutely loved keeping up your journey so far (I know I'm like 5 months behind as I type this out, but I'm catching up I promise haha). Truth be told, I've been holding off on pulling the trigger to make the necessary moves to kickstart things for me for a little over a year and your series has helped me start 2025 out strong. Similar to you, I have also been seeking out a career change. I've been a graphic designer for almost 10 years now and the job market has not been kind to me since Covid hit. Your videos have given me the initial push I need to really get the ball rolling with this voiceover stuff. As for your question regarding dressing up at these expos/cons, I have been attending cons for 9 years now and I can honestly say there's really only 2 rules when it comes to dressing up/cosplaying. 1) Make sure that YOU are comfortable wearing whatever character you want to dress up as. Don't do something that you're gonna feel weird/self-conscious in. 2) Make sure whatever you dress in meets the expo's/con's dress code. It is honestly as simple as that. Keep up the great work man! The progress you've made is impressive and I wish nothing but the best for you and your family!
@@CasualKaiju right on, man!! When I started this channel, the idea was to leave a fun trail of what it’s like to start something new. I never really considered it being any sort of motivation and that really means the world to me. Thanks for sharing that and congrats on taking those steps! Go crush it in 2025 and be sure to share your successes as well! You got this!
This is Good, Robert! Great to hear you're still learning and have a keener focus of getting into the business. Also great to see the Fan Expo in Denver! For me, I'd go as a Ghostbuster or maybe Mace Windu! I picked up a lightsaber during the pandemic, my kids told me HAD to be purple! Go figure! I reviewed it on the channel. Having gone to ComicCon in London, the vibe is amazing and I love the fact the community has no ill-intent to those that attend either on the fringe or fully involved! I find it incredible! I reckon you should go as a character from Tron Legacy! You'd nail it!
@@TrueNorf oooh Tron is a great idea. I’ve always loved the aesthetic of Tron, even going back to the original movie. Side note: the Light Cycle ride at Disney Orlando is absolutely incredible. You also just made me realize I forgot to include a clip of a collection of awesome light sabres from the show. Bummer. But yeah it was such a cool experience finally going to one of these events. Thanks for the feedback, Norf! Always good to hear from you. 👍🏼
You are making great progress and you website looks good! Good job on the logo very creative. I also feel I'm not ready and lots of improvements to go. How do you find Joe Zieja program?
@@Taiica thank you! And Joe’s program has been “okay” so far. It’s really just hours and hours of videos. I think I did so much initial research on my own that I found id heard most of what he shares but there were still some great pieces of info. I’m ready for one-on-one coaching though.
Thanks for sharing Robert! What were you hoping to gain from attending the fan expo? Hopefully it was local to you and you didn't have a ton of travel expense involved.
@@robert_starling I have a cousin that works these events and travels with them. She was initially going to have voice actors in her own booth that I would have had a chance to meet directly. But there was also the possibility of meeting agents since they tend to be there with the actors. The venue was only a 1 hr drive for me so no big deal.
Aspiring (not professional) voice actor here so please take this with a grain of salt. I watched a video by Shelby Young on what to do if you lose your voice/to take care of it with quick good suggestions. -Love the content btw ❤ I had my first convention last year and had all the same feels.
So I’m not the only one! Haha. It was definitely an eye opening but truly fun experience. I can 100% see the appeal now. Thanks for the recommendation on Shelby Young. I’ll be looking that up soon.
