@Ramzieh Sotheby's, which is super high end and deals in very pricey items, takes a 25% cut from the seller. I don't know of any place that has higher fees than them.

There’s an episode where a guy wanted to sell a coin for $10,000. Rick didn’t scam him buying it for so low, when he knew it was worth 80,000. Guy walked out with 30,000 more than he wanted.

I’m fairly certain a lot of these big deals were never going to happen. I think there’s a good balance of staged vs not staged on this show, but even if it is staged, the seller gets free publicity and the shop gets free content

@@NickMaruca That's not true at all. Most firearm auction houses won't charge a buyer/seller premium at near that high of a percentage. That Colt is worth every penny of $300,000 and will only go up in value.

In most cases people come to Rick to sell their goods, in this case rick walked into his store with an insulting offer.
Other than Rick trying to lowball him, I think what’s hilarious is that Rick’s talking to a seller that’s there to sell firearms to make money on a stable pace, not give them all away for a fair and easy price. Not to mention the seller’s only giving the firearms to buyers interested in keeping them.

It was NOT a low offer. Similar Gatlings (probably this one was sold at different times) were sold for between 222K and 282K years after this episode was aired. Minus the auction fees and other fees you'd be lucky if you cleared 150K. That being said I believe Rick never intended to buy it anyway. It was just for the show. Great advertisement for the owner though 👍
The most an auction house charges is 15-20%. Your guess at what the fees are ranges from 32% to nearly 50%

It’s actually quite common in high end auction houses. They do a lot of advertising and marketing 6 months to a year out to attract as many high bidders as possible.

So, the point stands: 30% is excessive. 10% is much closer to the norm for most auction houses.

Most of you are actually ridiculous, no one is gonna buy it walking in the door so it needs to be put in auction, auctions charge roughly 30%, so 30% from his asking price is a little over $100,000 so Rick’s offer is most likely what the guy will get for it anyway

The seller wouldn't not go low... Rick is known to be a low buyer.. If you ask 400k rick will offer you around 240k then he would increase the offer to 250k.. Thats it
If the price market is 1m.. He would offer you 500k first the increase the offer to 550 to 600k... Sometimes rick is unfair but he needs money, not all items he can sell it right Away some will take about a year or more
