    The first time I heard the demo from NI ,I fell in love with the tone of the brass, just as you said. No doubt at some point I will get this library.

    Best channel on UA-cam. You have seriously saved me years of mistakes because I over think things. Now I just need to save my money for more orchestral libraries because EWQL won't cut it on it's own.

      +uglyguido You should really check out their new CC - Composers Cloud. They give access to their full libraries, granted only the gold version, but it's lightyears above your average library.

    What up Daniel. Congrats on your recent (well Aug update) on your Metal Gear V and movie projects. Your "short" tracks are always amazing and inspiring! Keep up the great work.

    So your starting a beginner series, something that would be VERY enlightening, is a breakdown of the chord structures you use in a lot of your music. Knowing that would be fantastic and would greatly enhance time spent trying to compose something inspirational like you are always doing.

    Great vid sir! Just recently bought this. I'm late and you've probably found this out on your own by now but one of the things I noticed about the standalone Staccato patches is that you can speed up the duration of the sample. If you're trying to play some very fast melodic lines you can adjust that varispeed which is a very nice feature. Otherwise each individual note wasn't as defined. I found i could leave it on 'Natural' for slower staccato patches.

    Thanks for all your videos Daniel. I learned a lot! Would it be possible to get the .als file that you use when you started a new score? The one with just the pre-build session and not the recorded midi? It would be so great. I have most of your plug ins so I think it's gonna work just fine =D Thanks again from a french dude!

  • @chriswellz5993
    @chriswellz5993 8 років тому

    Fucking awesome. YOU SIR deserve your 97th thumbs-up and a new subscriber! Thanks for illustrating this library in context. Nothing wrong with playing it by itself but, hearing it in this way sold me. From producer to producer, I hope you're getting placements in film scores. You're pretty badass dude. They should have worked a little more on that tightness knob. Doesn't seem to have any good use. All they had to do was record the players "Blowing" faster instead of a gradual blow (lol). Which is probably why the standard is still Vienna. You can't do incredibly fast solos with this library but Vienna!? Dear God! The control is mind blowing. Too bad it cost as much as an island to get.
    *I DO HAVE A QUESTION THOUGH!* Between Hollywood brass and Cinebrass, which one would you say has the most "straight" as you would put? That "Epic holy shit Man of Steel Hans Zimmer pure awesomeness" brass? lol

    Great overview! Watched the whole way through. Specially like the way you put each section into musical part use (as with the tuba and horns). Great harmonies! Dark and beautiful. ...Am curious what do you prefer for strings? And what do you think of the NI Symphony Series String Ensemble.

    • @DJLA

    How would you compare this brass library to the brass especially in Albion 3 Icici or Albion 1? I am thinking about buying the albion collection but this library sounds like heaven !

    • @DJLA
      @DJLA  8 років тому

      +Ashton Gleckman Each library has its own tone, you really need to have a listen to some demos and see which sound you want the most.

    yeah, I imagine if a parameter can be mapped to a mod wheel, it can be attached to velocity. Or at least I hope so. The staccato dynamics is actually pretty important now that you show us

  • @rasputin1917
    @rasputin1917 8 років тому

    I know it is about a year late but some of the problems you get with unpredictable blasts etc changing parameters in the GUI, may come from a dodgy key from your Mac keyboard. ie, your "option" button getting stuck sometimes, or the "command" button getting stuck, unbeknown to you. This may affect the GUI with unpredictable results in the parameter settings.

    i don't own komplete, so this is quite pricey for me (comparing to my other options), i get the others don't have the rich low end this one has but still, which one comes closest to be an all around brass library for a beginner? or should i wait for 8dio century brass?

    • @antonmclouglin6319
      @antonmclouglin6319 8 років тому

      I came on this video to ask the same question, it gets on my nerves, I want dynamics/velocity to be be controlled by how hard i hit the keyboard, not by the mod wheel.

    I cannot believe there is no solo Bass Trombone in the collection. That is a major oversight, or Black Hole, I believe. It would have been so much more useful than an Alto Trombone, which I actually play.

    Sorry If I missed it - but are there rips in this library? I'm struggling to find a library other than CSB that does them well!

  • @RamonRodgers

    So it looks like they didn't have a setting for a natural pan. And I don't see that they added divisi features that they have for SS-Strings Ensemble. So I'll have to work that out. By the way, are you planning to do an eval of NI SS-String Ensemble? Do you know if the phrases from Action Strings and Emotive strings are included, or do they just want us to do it ourselves through articulation?

  • @danielmanahan692

    Daniel I notice nothing seems to be quantized with many samples coming before the beat. Is this because of the lag some samples have? if so, why not quantize them but put in a negative track delay? will that sound too sterile and you like the freedom of the samples more random?

    • @DJLA
      @DJLA  8 років тому +6

      +Daniel Manahan I have always done that for most libraries. Somethings I tighten up, some I leave loose. Just sounds good to me that way.

  • @jbbarne
    @jbbarne 8 років тому

    I believe what you are trying to say @ 6:25 is when the player uses their tongue for the articulation. You can't just blow intro a brass instrument, or it will end up with no crisp articulation.

  • @orchestralmadhouse2810
    @orchestralmadhouse2810 8 років тому

    The problem with most of these brass libraries is that they have no crossfade except the VSL engine. If you're using a crescendo articulation and want to change note at the top of the swell, you can't. The only way is to have a crossfade slider crossfading from one articulation to another or key switching but then the switch would not be smooth.

    Can you please repeat at the beginning of each video: "Native Instruments, we all beg you to remove that stupid interface-drag-and-drop behavior in Kontakt!" How many more swearwords are needed after accidentally missing a small control knob or slide on the panel and dragging an instrument to a different position, so that they finally fix this stupidity? x_x

    Well, I am definitely sold on buying this, with the string ensemble though, while it sounds great, doesn't sound very epic of large. What do you recommend for a good string ensemble to go with this collection?

    • @tweerp868
      @tweerp868 8 років тому

      Go with Cinesamples Cinestrings Core, 8Dio Adagio Series or 8Dio Majestica Strings. My personal preferences because I think they sound the best. Hope i helped. If you need any other help tell me, Im always happy to help :D.

    • @lancevermeer5535
      @lancevermeer5535 8 років тому

      Thanks for the recommendations. I currently own the Komplete Kontakt library, and it has proven to be very useful, except the orchestra was very lackluster, so I'm buffing up the weaker areas. One biggie is the choir, I'm looking around and Requiem pro is definitely my favorite so far. Anything that comes close to what is used by Yuka Kitamura in the dark souls series is my ideal sound. Do you use any choirs, and if so what do your recommend?
