Thanks for sharing; I'm from a similar era, and I wish we could bring back old fashioned phone booths, for anyone who might need them, especially in emergencies, and then folks wouldn't need a cell phone. The phone companies/networks are making so much $$$$$ if everyone has to pay for a cell phone. I love my landline!!!!
Yes, all correct answers. You guys are spot on most of the time. . It is so enjoyable listeneing to you three. I will say that today's technology/social media is an advantage when it comes to word spreading quick in emergency situations. Also, if power goes out. Other than that, depression, anxiety, isolation has shot way up. I am thankful I grew up in a time where life was simpler.
My daughter is 33 she’s never had any social media accounts facebook or anything. She also is not interested unlike her friends and cousins. No selfies nothing. I’m so proud of her!
Today I have to call AT&T because they keep increasing my bill and it’s ridiculous! Wish me luck I get an American and someone actually helps me. 🥴
Good for your daughter! 🙂 And it is very frustrating not being able to understand reps from India or Philippines.

I miss the days when we were free. You would make a call and the person answering the phone would say "they're not here right now, I will tell them you called" and you would return the call the next day. Often I lay my cell phone on the kitchen counter and go for a nice long peaceful drive in my 68 Ford. I mostly hate my cell phone.

It's because technology reduces headcount which is their goal. Companies will find any way they can to have as few employees as possible and this is one of those ways.
Technology is great & it's nice to have smartphones & Internet at your fingertips but it's gotten out of control with social media, trolls, AI, etc. I'm for going back to the old days where everyone had a flip phone, watched 3 major networks, & had time to actually read a book. Seems like technology has taken away our spare time as everyone is hooked on it & getting PTSD & anxiety if they go a day without it. Crazy!
Our kids make us say” Damm how did we get so lucky!?” My kids aren’t phone obsessed either … wanna know why… because My kids Are into Sports! They have a life full of excitement they don’t need to create a fake environment- moral of the story get your kids interesting in sports celebrating themselves!

Grew up watching the sitcom. Good stuff. I remember the character Charles wearing a varsity jacket and holding a Basketball. Can't find any proof of that supports this memory though...
I relate to leaving the phone behind on purpose now. It's an out of control leash. The feeling of no wireless signals blasting around you is a new kind of peace.

I can totally understand why Scott could hate social media. I read his twitter page and get pissed at the comments! Speaking on new technology…. What drives me crazy is nowadays to use anything u have to download an app!!!!! You have to have a username and password for EVERYTHING!!!!! I have an alarm clock slash phone charger I got as a gift. It’s been almost a year and I still don’t have it working because of the info I need for my google home page 🤦🏼♀️. You can’t get a tv and plug it in and watch either… u have to be a genius to set them up 😂. We just bought a new house and had to download apps and create accounts just to use our stove and DISHWASHER 😩

Tech has its good and bad. If you want to reach acompany that's hard to get through to, just call them first thing when they open. Usually you can get right through.
The music industry is now saturated because the gatekeepers have been removed. However, streaming pays very little, so to make a lot of money, one needs to tour the country and charge a fee.

Try hitting the spanish button you get a rep right away tell the rep you hit the wrong number all of the reps speak english then they help you.

I scream "Representative" over and over. It's worse when you finally get someone and they barely or understand speak English.
They need to add some humor into it such as when you call your bank, "Due to your Insufficient funds in your account we had to lay off a few customer service agents. Please hold."

SOLUTION: by accident i discovered you can hear a real voice immediately, avoid wait times, avoid pressing the (1, 2... ). just press the round red botton, if youre like me you will hear "F-K!!!"
It's AI. Maybe it's cheaper to do it this way than hire a live person.

Technology has gotten out of hand. People don't bother learning how to spell because of 'spell checker'. We don't remember telephone numbers because they're stored inside our phones, came with directions. The phone and other computers are doing the thinking and people have given over to them. The world has become a planet of morons.
