- Scott Baio is defending himself over remarks he made about the death of former co-star Erin Moran. Speaking on a radio show Monday, Baio, who believed his "Joanie Loves Chachi" co-star died of a heroin overdose, criticized the actress. "You do drugs or drink, you're going to die," he said. What Baio didn't know at the time was that Moran actually died of stage 4 throat cancer. He is now defending himself in an interview with Inside Edition. #InsideEdition
It's just sad that she ended up like this after all the joy she has brought to so many people.
Life is hard because we're all stupid some of the time, Erin, Scott, me, you. Even if you're a good person, give it enough decades and those stupid times catch up with you. Johnny Cash's "Hurt" is about that.

It's not so much that he jumped the gun but how he was so quick to judge her.
I dunno, he knew her. She was on drugs for years. That is what killed her. The cancer was caused by years of hard drug abuse,smoking,and hard living. That is not even up for debate. She made millions and ended up in an RV park.

I live in the uk. And the cancer research uk centre say that 1 in every 2 people will be diagnosed with some form of cancer at some stage in their lifetime. Half of everyone in Great Britain will get cancer at some point in their life.
I work in a hospitall. Cancer is striking young old rich and poor all walks of life.

Absolutely. I think because he was a costar and an old flame of hers as well as a friend it makes him an easy target. This is why I don't even trust the news anymore. The really truth comes out after a few days much like what caused Erins death. Scott did jump the gun but honestly who hasn't. Those who haven't have my permission to cast the first stone. I don't condone what he said because it was a little harsh but honestly if she had died from a drug overdose as opposed to cancer I think he still would be getting bashed. People can't sugarcoat things like alcohol and drug addiction. Erin did have a problem with it in the past so if course the media is going to jump. My aunt died suddenly and we thought it was just heart failure or a heart attack but honestly we found out a few days later that it was cancer and none of us knew. Long story short, Scott was wrong for what he said because it turned out to not be true but at least he is admitting he was wrong.

It's not that simple or straight forward. Erin had a myriad of personal issues. Ron Howard can't just take chances on someone that is unstable out of sympathy and compromise a movie production. You just have no clue how things work.

I said what the news was reporting immediately following and for the 24 hours that followed...that she had likely died of a drug overdose. Once the truth was revealed, and if she and her husband had only conceded to tell the truth in the beginning, she would have gotten the well wishes from friends and fans all over the world. Sadly, she jumped from the frying pan into the fire. I will remember her for her bright eyes, engaging smile, and enthusiasm as Joanie, especially when she loved Chiachi.

When it comes to someone’s passing, no matter what any disease or addiction or how a person died, that the best answer to always give is “My thoughts, my prayers and my condolences go out to her family, I’m truly sorry for there loss.” I’ve gone to so many funerals of family members, friends and some co-workers and to even people who I didn’t like that who have passed away, I never say anything bad about the person who has died. I’ve learned that it always makes you the better person and by having a good clean image is to always say something nice about that person. I had to teach myself this many years ago. Let God do the real judging.

I think Scott Bao was voicing what probably 99% of the public was thinking. However I think he held a bit more responsibility for a slightly more informed or at least measured response given his personal and quite public connection with her through Happy Days and their own show together. Everyone else from the Happy Days camp were giving positive remarks. I think he would have been best served to have done the same.
