The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II has said there was no dispute over the ownership of thousands of Benin artefacts taken from the palace of the Oba of Benin in 1897 during the British invasion of the kingdom, which are now scattered across Europe, the United States and other parts of the world.
The monarch stated this when the Chairman, DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, paid a courtesy visit to the palace to celebrate with him on his birthday and his fifth coronation anniversary, where he commended the efforts of the Oba to bring back the artworks.

When l see how people greet Kings in the South South, South East, The Middle Belt and the North l can't help but bow! Majority of Kings in the South West have brought disrespect to the throne with their engagement with people. No one says don't interact with the people or your old friends but when you ascend the throne you are no longer on the same level. You can't be pumping fist with people and people pathing you on the back, shaking hands etc. It's wrong! Completely wrong! Your position where you are demands utmost respect from everyone. Hence, just don't leave your Palace for all manner of occasions. I don't see Kings in the North, South South, South East, Middle Belt attending owembe parties! Give your throne the respect it deserves!
Dr Dokpesi is not even anywhere close to the King not to talk of sitting next to him. That's how it should be. You don't get close to the King unless it's absolutely necessary and you are called forward.
